We rented a bike for a few days, we had issues opening the seat storage, they require you to leave your passport, they tried to change the price on us and when the battery got stolen the insurance didn't cover it so they decided to make up a price. Horrible. Stay away from this place. I rented yesterday, went straight to the beach (hotel zone) and on the way back, the brakes locked up on me. I couldn't even walk the bike back i to town but had to get a taxi. Then I had to spend the next day driving down there with them and they wouldn't give me my money back for renting a bike I couldn't even use. Beware of their creative pricing structures. They told us they only rented bikes for the rest of the day for $80MX. When we returned the bikes just 8 hours later he told us that we could have had them for the entire day for just $20 more which would have been a yes for us! It was tricky marketing and we asked to take them overnight and he said no, 'what's done is done'! What crap customer service! Not to mention the bikes are horrible, squeaky, off alignment, low air, and they want $2300 if they're lost. Please! They're barely worth the $80 we got em for. read more

Not that professional. We rented bikes from them twice. The first time was ok, although one of the bikes was in poor condition. Second time we rented my chain broke twice and the basket was half broken. They just gave me a bike that they had not checked before. I asked for the money back and they told me that it was my problem for not bringing the bike back when it broke ( I guess they are open24/7?? Sarcasm...). Also, when I was asking for my money back ( not very successfully) there was another couple being charged 100 pesos because they had returned the bike first thing in the morning instead of before closing the shop the night before ( I don't think that is doing good business man...) all of this in my perfect Spaniard Spanish. NEVER EVER EVER USE THIS PLACE!!! We rented 4 motor scooters for the day. They required holding our passports (which is not comfortable) and cash payment. The head guy running the shop had a scowl on his face the entire time. When I told him we didn't carry passports with us he said "then go somewhere else." We couldn't as iBikes was sold out. So we went and got the passports, paid cash, and enjoyed the bikes for the day. When we returned them the next day, the staff was counting all of the equipment and checking the bikes. Cap't Scowl took one of the helmets and hid it under his desk then told us we were 1 helmet short which would cost 80 USD. We are not the people to be taken advantage of and let him know we weren't going to be scammed. He then refused to give our passports back. When we showed him we had returned all the helmets he then said we needed the paperwork (which we were never given) and again refused to give us back our paperwork unless we give cash payment. Such a scam. Fortunately we caused enough of a scene (and I'm a big dude) and he finally gave them back. NEVER USE THIS PLACE.. ITS DANGEROUS! read more

There are apparently 2 locations. The place we rented our bikes from was located in between a OXXO and laundry mat. But I figure prices and bikes would be quite similar. For 4 days we rented our bikes for 400 pesos ($22USD) which is a steal!!! Some places quoted us $25USD a DAY. With that being said there was no issues with our bikes. Some days they were used heavily and others just a couple miles. Rust was the only issue I had with these bikes. I couldn't adjust my seat according to my height but I thought very little of that issue. They request to keep your license for a deposit which I can see be very dangerous to some, but is normal for bike rentals here. Bikes also come with locks. read more

This was the worst experience we have ever had and we rent bikes and scooters in every country we visit. The staff were very rude and we felt they where mocking us in Spanish. They don't check safety of any of their equipment or offer any training or even show you how things work when it comes to scooter rental. They ask for a passport to be left there as security and only accept cash payment. All bikes and scooters are in very poor condition and not checked before rented out. There are many places to rent from in Tulum. I would never recommend this one. read more

We rented bikes for four days for 400 pesos. We had gone to three different places and were quoted so much more. Bikes are not the newest or in the best condition but it got us from a to b. They do require some kind of ID for deposit. I'd definitely recommend. read more

Terrible customer service, one particular employee was rude, did not greet one person, when it was my turn to be waited on, he answered his mobile, then asked for my driver's license, which was fine but when I wanted his credentials (because he had my driver's license) he returned my bike rental money and basically kicked me out. read more

Great people and very good prices. We rented a 125cc bike and it worked great. Helmets, lock, and, most importantly, insurance, was included. The man in charge is Eric Cortes Gerente. Had a truly awful experience at Kelly's bikes. Rented a bike for 24hours and on my cycle to the beach I noticed the steering was unsteady. Almost immediately the handlebars came off of the bike and I swerved into the hardshoulder, luckily avoiding the oncoming traffic. I fell quite badly injuring my knee, elbows and wrist. I returned to the shop in a taxi with the body of the bike and the parts of the bike that had come off and received the worst customer service I've experienced to date. With absolutely no sympathy or apology I was reluctantly given my refund of 100 peso for the bike rental but they accused me of damaging the bike myself. They refused to cover taxi costs saying we should have just called the shop and at the end threatened to call the police on us. On leaving the shop they called at us to call our solicitors. The man we spoke with was the owner of the shop and I would advise to rent bikes from elsewhere to prevent a potentially life threatening situation like this happening again. Over all quite a sad, frustrating and disappointing end to our trip In Tulum. Do not visit Kelly's Bikes unless you want to be provided with a truly unsafe, unsatisfactory and hazardous service. read more

This is the first review Im writing in Yelp. I have not found this shop in any other website. I just want to say that this shop is horrible, i would give them a minus five stars. The treatment was horrible, the bikes were old and in a bad state. Unfortunately, you only discover that when you have been riding them for a while. The bicycles were so bad that we returned them after 4 hours. The guy at the shop was rude, almost laughing at us. After arguing he just returned us 40 pesos. The price for each bike is also abusive, 80 pesos per day. If you dont want your day be ruined by a shitty bike and treatment go to CENTER bikes. The girl there was very nice with us, the bikes are new and very well checked, and they only cost 50 pesos!!! It was our fault not checking it before. DO NOT hire from kelly bikes. This is the first time I ever wrote a really bad review online. But our experience was so incredibly sad with the shop and the guy that works there, I really feel our story must be told. We started the day pretty happy planning to go to grand cenote (about a 4k ride by bike - why that's important? I'll tell u later...). We planned to go to a bike shop our hostel had recommended just to find out that that one closed early on Sunday's. So we went back to Kelly Bike rental which we saw on our way to the other shop. The guy told us bike rental is 80 Pesos for 24hrs. We needed 2 IDs or equivalent as a deposit. Since we had only 1 ID with us and he refused to take a credit card for the second bike as a deposit, I needed to go back to the Hostel to collect the ID. The girls bikes were looking like shit but he sad he would attach a basket when I return with the ID. The bike was not only looking shit it was driving like shit (I've rented bikes in Vietnam for 1USD per day and those were much much better!). However I finally returned with my ID. In the mean time the guy must have have repaired a bike lying on the ground before which apparently had a flat tire. He gave that bike to my boyfriend. However he wasn't able to attach a basket to my bike. So we finally took the bikes and went off to the cenote. We had a wonderful time there (u should definitely check out grand cenote!). When we got back to our bikes my boyfriend discovered that he had a flat tire (again). With a lot of effort he made it back to Tulum totally soaked in sweat (my boyfriend is really fit doing a lot of running and it was pretty chilly (I was wearing a jacket), since it had rained earlier). When we got back to the shop complaining about the flat tire the guy wasn't even apologizing - he laughed at us! How rude is that?! We wanted to return the bikes and get a refund (we had had the bikes for about 4hrs by then). After a lot of arguing he offered to refund us 40 Pesos. Ridiculous! After some more arguing and being really disappointed for the first time in Mexico (being in the country for over 2 weeks already) we left the shop... After a few hundred meters we reached Center Bikes and just asked out of curiosity what a bike rental would cost for a day. 50 Pesos! And the bikes looked great - all of them with baskets and brakes! Needless to say that the really nice girl behind the counter laughed at us offering her the second ID as a deposit for the second bike... So we finally took off with two really nice bikes, which drove us excellently back to the hostel! read more

Very easy bike shop to rent from! We were walk ins and we were able to rent 10 bikes very easily for $6/day. Each person renting must leave their ID in order to rent. Their are a few Kelly Bike shops in Tulum as well. read more

Only had non-fitting or broken helmets, the headlights of our scooter were not working (which we only figured out really early the next morning when it was still dark and the shop still closed) and the lock could be opened with ANY key. We returned the scooter with 25% petrol missing (worth $20) and requested that as discount. They threatened to call the police to force us to pay or fill up. Can only imagine how they behave if you've got a real problem with their bike or something breaks while you rented it... read more
