I will be honest I was not expecting good Mexican food in the area. This place is probably one of the better options in town. The salsa was okay - (not authentic-too sweet). I was happy that they offered fresh authentic salsa upon request. My authentic Mexican food recommendation from this place are the tacos (lengua) and the Pollo Ixtapa dish (chicken and sea food- has onions).

I was really craving Mexican food, and I decided to try a new spot. The food sounded good, and I liked the description of the nachos, so I ordered them and decided to add on a side of Mexican street corn. It was ok. First off, the corn was very overcooked. Small kernels. Very juicy, but not in a good wat. I took about 2 spoonfuls and pretty much tossed the rest. The nachos were not very good. I know this was a delivery and I have to make concessions for some saturation making the chips not as crunchy, but even the chips they gave me on the side were very thin and oily and would never hold up in a nacho setting. The meat (carnitas) was very dry and stringy. The guacamole lacked seasoning as did the rice and beans. And, the salsa had a pulled-from-the-refrigerator flavor. I maybe ate a third of the nachos and then tossed those out as well. I did not eat any of the chips and salsa after the initial taste. I was really bummed as I had hoped for a good meal, but I won't be trying this restaurant again and will try others next time I am in town.

But when you get a bill of $30 for 3 people during the late lunch hour (what a steal!), and for value, this place is a 5 star. Twice, I have dined here, both for a late lunch with my parents after visiting the Catmosphere across the street. Juan C was our server both times and he was very kind to my older parents, thank you for that Juan. Although my dad and I order standard items from the menu, my mom needs simply a plain ground beef burrito with cheese and nothing else. Like nothing...tortilla, beef, cheese, nothing else on the plate please. Basic. Juan delivered and adjusted the price accordingly. For Terre Haute, this Mexican food is pretty OK....not great...but pretty good. Juan the server was authentically nice. In the footprint of a former bank, this place is decoratively a mismatch of many things. A mismatch of colors, bank relics, chair fabrics, flooring, parking lot is odd.... It is what it is. Bathrooms could use a remodel, cashier area seems odd, front entrance area cramped. So with that, Mis Tres Potrillios is a 3, but I would go back. Support the local guy. (new paint
