They take your shoes from you and put used sandals on your feet. She didn't ask me what areas I needed worked on. She said okay Swedish massage 90 minutes. She doesn't know what that is. They only give you a thin sheet to cover with. No bolster under ankles. She climbed on the table and was putting her whole body weight into me even on my neck which had me stressed. She's definitely not professionally trained because the amount of times she rubbed directly on my spine was so painful. A lot of the massage was fast movements, not relaxing at all. She had to leave to get towels, then vigorously rubbed me with them and they were rough and cheap, she exposed the tops of my butt cheeks and was rubbing them, I felt so violated but I'm terrible at speaking up about it. Then she rubbed my legs and while I was finally starting to relax she started slapping my foot and legs and startled me so bad!! She did this with both legs. Then she had me turn over and was mashing her hands all over my face and eyes, her nails kept pinching my skin on my arms, she would dig her thumbs into my neck and it hurt so bad I wanted to cry, she finished by manipulating my feet and grabbing them hard and it was painful and then she slapped my legs several times and said I was done. At one point during the massage someone took a phone call on speaker and I hear a man talking and it startled me because it sounded like they were in the room with me. Then I hear the doorbell going off and I hear a man's voice say "hello?" It sounded like he was in the room! She said excuse me, and she stepped out to deal with what I'm guessing was a delivery guy. The walls don't connect to the ceiling so you hear everything. I was seriously nervous that I was in a happy ending parlor. I will never ever return to this place. They are not professionally trained in massage. Stay far away from this place.

She nice/friendly but I do wish she would have told me little more clearly what was happening. It felt very rushed; she told me the order of services, but wish she'd told me where the shower room was, which massage room, that I'd need to wait a little bit before my massage, and who I was having my service with. She was the only person taking care of the front desk so this was probably a management issue. The steam room was fantastic, it is very nicely tiled, it didn't seem cheaply made as a previous poster said. It warmed up to 113degrees and was gradual which I loved! And the aroma therapy made it so relaxing. It was a very comfortable size for one person. It's silent in there, other than the sound of the steam. I used the rain drop shower (twice), they did have shampoo and conditioner available to use. There's no hair "product" and no combs available for use (so bring your own)! I did call asking if I'd need to bring shampoo/conditioner and was told it was available, but I wish they'd told me there was nothing else, and to bring my own comb. I've been to spas in the past where you can use their comb, they're sanitized in between. My massage was great, I had a 90 minute hot stone massage followed by a body scrub. Both were very relaxing. My masseuse did a very good job and was accommodating; I asked for more/less pressure and also asked for the heating pad to be turned off because I was hot (not because it was hot, because I just run hot). She was very nice. I was so relaxed when I was finished! I can see how people would say the spa is dirty, the walls need some paint and the baseboards could be scrubbed. The floors are concrete so they can look dirty, but I don't think they are dirty. I used 3 towels, they were oldish towels and one of them smelled mildew-y, like it'd been left in the washer too long before being thrown in the dryer. The rugs in the shower room and treatment room could be replaced. Things I'd recommend: -Washcloths in the shower room -Locks on the shower room doors (this really bothered me) -New towels -Combs -Some kind of music piped into the steam room, something "zen" as it is way quiet in there, I took my phone in there and played some zen music. -A selection of sizes for spa shoes (they gave me a small size and I'm a size 10) I wore my own birkenstocks around the spa. -Lockers for your stuff, or cubbies or something. You have to carry everything around with you and give you a basket. Overall I enjoyed my time here. The staff was nice, services were as described on the website and if I lived in the area I'd probably return. My services were all on time. Upon checking out the girl did ask if I wanted to rebook, but once I said I didn't live there she didn't push it. I do think they are priced like a higher end spa. When I go to a spa I expect they accommodate the things I'd need and if I came back I'd bring my own towels, shower sandals, etc and because of that I'd expect the prices to be a little lower. I'd agree it's missing the "comfortable" feel that I've experienced in spas in the past.

The difference between the past and present studio is drastic, and I couldn't be happier with the changes. Beyond Massage is located in a small shopping strip center on Porter in Norman. When you enter the door, you are greeted by a welcoming waiting area, complete with nice furniture, calming music, and dimmed lights. It is obvious that this area has been well planned instead of being an after thought, like so many other massage studios. Even though the studio is small, the waiting area gives it a spa-like feel and prepares you for relaxation. The massages are done in individual rooms that are decorated like a typical massage studio. The music selection is nice, and I love the various oils and scents used for my massage. I appreciate the climate isn't too cold, which has happened to me more times than not when visiting other studios. I always feel comfortable and safe at Beyond Massage. The prices are what makes Beyond Massage such a great place. No need to search for massage deals though discount sites and risk having a bad experience. The regular price for a one hour massage is $45! That is $15 cheaper than the average one hour massage. My therapist of choice is Micah. I highly recommend her. Her many years of experience teaching and giving massages makes her the perfect therapist for me. I love her.
