I would not recommend this facility. First, the staff never answers the phone or returns phone…read morecalls. Even the nurse! For that matter even the emergency number. I had an issue the night I had a procedure. I called their number and left a message with the after hrs nurse because I was having some issues. I never received a call back. Twice my medication wasn't at the office at my appointment time. The 2nd time was to refill my pain pump. I waited in the front lobby about 45 minutes before someone came out and told me my medication went to the surgical center and somebody will have to go get it. Not sure how long it will take. It was about 11:00 and he asked if I could come back at 2:00 and I said okay. That was it. We were going to Austin that weekend and we decided to go early. I called to reschedule on Monday and of course had to leave a message. We are almost to Austin and they call me about 5:30 wanting to know why I didn't come to my appt. I said I called and canceled. She said I may start beeping and might end up in the hospital with withdrawals. What? This is the first I have heard of this. The guy that came out to ask if I could come back at 2 never said a word about that. Talk about a lack of communication!! Next, I am on Medicare and chose a plan that had a 15.00 specialist co-pay. The lady at the front desk kept trying to charge me more than 15.00 and then would argue with me when I told her she was wrong. I had an EEG at the office. She said the co-pay was 35.00. I paid it but called Humana later and they said since it was done in the Dr's office it would be 15.00 as always. I called and left many messages with billing and never got a return call. I left that office over a month ago and never heard anything from them and I'm sure I will never be reimbursed for their mistake. Another issue, they don't call in medications when the are supposed to. I needed a muscle relaxer, it was right before Christmas. I had seen Dr Classen and he said he would call it in. It wasn't! I left messages but it wasn't called in until three weeks later. Then, I got an allergic reaction to something. I didn't know if it was something they put in the pain pump that I just had refilled. It was Friday afternoon and I couldn't get hold of my primary doctor. I was itching all over!! I called Classen's office and went straight to the physicians ext, so I could actually speak to someone, which they tell you not to call that ext unless it's an emergency. Told her what was happening and she said she would call in a steroid pack. I said you will call it in today? She said yes. It was never called in! I had to go to CareNow the next morning because I was broke out all over, even my lips were swollen. I really loved Dr Classen. He is a sweet man that treated me with respect and sat there and listened to me as long as I needed him. He put a pain pump in for me and did a good job..but I asked him before I had it put in what meds were going in. He gave me the name of 4 meds. I wrote them down. When I started talking to him about the meds he said , we didn't put that one in. I said, you told me it was going to be put in. He said, we talked about 'maybe' putting it in. What?? No, we didn't. Also, we talked about putting in more muscle relaxant instead of pain medicine on the refill because I still had the tightness and the pain medication was making me feel sick. He said, okay done deal! What went into my refill? The exact same thing that went in the first time. Again, lack of communication or not making notes?! I'm sorry to Dr Classen, not to the staff, but I had to leave this review.

Disappointing Experience at Texas Pain Institute…read more My experience at Texas Pain Institute was extremely disappointing and frustrating. One of the leads, Miss Angela, was speaking to an elderly patient in a way that came across as assertive, demanding, and lacking basic compassion. For a medical facility--especially one dealing with pain management--this kind of interaction was uncomfortable to witness and completely unacceptable. The new patient paperwork was excessively long, and despite doing my best to complete it, I was told that if it wasn't finished in time, they would not reschedule me for the next day. Instead, the next available appointment was almost a month out, which is unreasonable for patients seeking timely care and already dealing with pain. The only positive experience I had with this business was a representative named Destiny. She truly stood out. Destiny went above and beyond to try to help me get rescheduled, showed genuine care, and had an amazing personality. She did everything in her power to assist me, and I absolutely appreciated her willingness to help when others clearly did not. Unfortunately, aside from Destiny's efforts, this experience left me feeling unvalued and discouraged. I expected professionalism, understanding, and empathy--especially toward elderly and new patients--but that expectation was not met.

I have been in a lot of pain for many years after 2 rollover car accidents. And the pain medication was just not giving me relief. Going into his office even now and its 2021. The front staff is courteous and friendly. The office is clean and a lot of seating. The nurses are awesome they ask a lot of questions to be able to help give Dr. Alford some insight of what he's walking into. The Physician Assistant is awesome he also sits and listens to what your telling him about your health and pain, surgeries and medications. The Dr. Alford comes in and we all sat down and tried to come up with the best plan for me. Everytime I have ever gone in he has always been thorough in what going on with my health. Did anything change? Is everything with the stimulators working ok? How is your pain now that it's in? I've never been dissatisfied with my care. That's why whenever there is something I need done he's the first doctor I would go to for my back. I wouldn't trust anyone else. He is who I would refer my family and friends to. So if you want or need an excellent spine surgeon that listens to what you have to say is going on with your body and how your feeling AND then also looks at the radiology reports. Then Dr. Brent Alford should be your consultation.
