Great time here at the Rock Club…read more Purchased a Groupon and decided to visit on a Friday morning. Called ahead and the front desk staff were very quick in getting back to me to confirm that a belayer was available at that time. They also confirmed the Groupon over the phone. I went ahead and completed the required waiver forms online prior to our visit. Adequate parking was available at that time. The Rock Club (downstairs) shares its space with a with a tennis club, so make sure you follow the ramp down toward the Rock Club entrance and NOT the stairs whih leads to the tennis club. We arrived at around 10am and it was fairly empty. The Rock Club staff explained the process and set us up with climbing shoes. We were then introduced to our belayer who was awesome. Over the next hour, we tried climbs ranging in difficulty. The wall heights range from about 35-40 feet and the peg placement and wall angles vary throughout the climbs, making some more difficult than others. We even had some time to try some bouldering. Our belayer was great at explaining techniques and technical terms. She was very patient and very encouraging...though not "pushy" at all. After we finished, the staff was nice enough to show us around to see what else was available at the facility: childrens area, common areas, training rooms and weight rooms. May go without saying...wear comfy clothes. As a regular gym-goer, but someone who has NOT climbed before, this was a welcomed challenge. Certain muscles, particularly the forearms and core, may not be part of the typical gym regimen...but are very important in climbing...that being said, I was definitely feeling it the next day. Overall we had a great experience at the Rock Club. We will deinifitely look into other classes. Kudos to all the staff members there.

Yonkers Tennis Club in my opinion, is pretty great. It's important to note that this is almost strictly a TENNIS center - don't expect treadmills, a weight room, a pool etc. If you're looking for a comprehensive fitness center, this may not be the right choice for you. Martin, the gentleman who evaluated my skill level is a terrific guy. He pointed out my strengths and weaknesses, and suggested some programs that could help my game. I'm most certainly planning on signing up for the intermediate clinics here. Thanks YTC!

If you play tennis in the area, and you're looking for an indoor club for the winter (and beyond?) you need to check out YTC.

I took my kids out of swim class And stopped going. Almost 3 years later (because it is the only gym in our area) I decided to give it another chance, the signs were smaller and I tried to ignore them, so that my kids would have a place to swim in the winter, but the Israel flag in EVERY room and the constant propaganda everywhere made it impossible. Their mission statement of "We create a space of belonging, where everyone feels respected and appreciated for who they are." Is a lie. This statement does not include, Palestinians or anyone who supports equal rights and liberation. Israel is currently the leading cause of childhood mortality in the world.

I was excited to teach my kids to swim. That only went so far, they were not as excited to learn from mom, lol. The group lessons at the Riverdale Y were great. They worked with them on their comfort level, the instructors were very patient and it did the trick pretty quickly. I highly recommend ‍ There are many programs here at the Y that are great! The pool for lap or recreational swim, the gym and classes for working out, the after school programs, Camp Twelve Trails, music lessons, theatre, other youth and senior programs, and so much more. This is really a great Y. The staff is also very friendly and helpful
