8/19/19 After leaving Nancy's Barbershop&Spa, I headed to Puspa Day Spa to get wax done by professionals as the Nancy Barbershop associate told me to do. I met the owner (Puspa Khanal) and her associate (Bhawana Metformin) sitting and talking. I saw the owner getting some henna body art done. Seeing that the henna body art going on Puspa hands arms and feet, I had nothing but time on my hands. This is the first Indian spa I have ever been to, but it had a nice feel to the place. After some time Puspa showed me the waxing room. The waxing chair has had a lot of use, but was the most relaxing chair/tables I have ever been on. I was asked if I wanted to get my legs waxed too. After thinking about for a few seconds, I went with their offer. For five dallors more I was given the option of getting my armpits waxed too. Normally I shave them, but not today. Both Puspa and Bhawana left the room and I took my clothes off to hang them up. I did not have a towel to cover my manhood, but these ladies see naked people every day, well maybe not a handsome stud like myself, but close. I believe Bhawana was the first to open the door and close it. I heard her cackling like a schoolgirl. The song I'm Too Sexy started playing in my head....no,...not really... I started looking around for something to cover my genitals, when Puspa brought in a hand towel. Guess Bhawana is not use to male nudity. I was asked why I was naked and I thought that was a dumb question, but oh well. I explained I am getting my full legs waxed; as well, as my full arms and armpits. I am not going to get wax on my new clothes. The waxing procedure went by quickly since both Puspa and Bhawana were waxing me at the same time. Very rarely have I been waxed by two people and have found it to be less effective than one person doing it. The whole process I felt was rushed and if I come back for another round, I will request just one lady. Both Puspa and Bhawana did a decent job, but too much leftover wax was found on my body. Again I feel one person doing the waxing would have been better. I spent a good amount of time scratching the wax off of me. The waxing clean up are just as import as the removal of the hair. I have seen small patches of hair that was missed. Mishaps happen and I am sure Madame Puspa can redeem herself. I give this place 4 out of 5 stars. I will be back to try out the massage and waxing again. Puspa Day Spa is a charming place as is Madame Puspa. $80 bucks for full legs, full arms and Armpits is great. read more

I wish I could give this business owner a zero star rating. She is very greedy for money and does not care about the customer. I was referred to a friend who is doing a full body for $2k. I drove an hour and twenty minutes to get there. She gave me a $2400 same package for full body laser removal, with at least 6 sessions that my friend received. Then I offered her $2000 and reminded her of my friend's name who referred us, but she wasn't loyal to the prize we referenced. Even though we offered her $1k upfront and $1k later, she refused. She wanted $2400 this time, but later agreed to pay $2200 and per session using a credit card. Although today's appointment is the first sitting appointment, there were unexpected things that occurred. I called her to reschedule and she said tomorrow's is fine. However, she mentioned that the face is not covered in the full body, so it will be separate. I reminded her about our deal and she said I forgot to mention it last time. She started arguing and demanded cash payments of $2200, which reminded me that it wasn't what we talked about and the deal. Be aware of these kinds of owners. Since laser hair removal is a common procedure, it's possible that they can cause more harm to your body than good. Luckily, she refused and showed her greediness. Otherwise, I would have been messed up or sick by her unprofessional behavior. read more

Just went to this place for waxing and was very upset with their service. They brought in an untrained person to help and didn't ask me if it was ok, if you are training someone it's fine but at least let the customer know what they are getting, on top of that they kept talking in their language the whole time, they also got wax all over my shoes and clothes and did bother to help clean it up. I think for $75 I could have gotten better service and felt more welcome. read more

Puspa (the business owner) always offers great customer service and has performed laser treatment on me. The procedure is quick, affordable, painless and works so well. They're kind and prompt; I always do walk-ins and the longest I've had to wait is about 15 min, but sometimes there is no wait. It is clean, efficient, and the service is excellent. They also trim your eyebrows and finish with a brief temple massage. Love this place! I've tried more expensive brow services before with waxing, including upscale salons and Anastasia even. Do not waste your money for their theatrics in for exorbitant amounts and unflattering brows. Puspa has never gotten it wrong for me. read more

My brows were in need of a clean up and I decided to give a new threading place a try. Usually I get them waxed. They charge $8 for eyebrows. Place wasn't busy and it was clean. I waited a few minutes. Once it was my turn they had pictures of types of eyebrow arch you wanted. I asked for #1 and she threaded away. I recommend that you don't wear any eyeshadow or makeup as you have to hold your skin about your eye to make it easy for her to thread. After she was done threading my eye brows I got a mini facial massage! The sad part is that this place is far away from home but I will come back if I'm in the area. read more

One day, I didn't have time to drive all the way out to Tyson's Corner to get my eyebrows done. I yelped a place nearby. Puspa Day Spa popped up, and back then there were very few reviews. I decided to give it a try because it was only 5 minutes away. I've been here a good handful of times, and consider myself a regular now. I'm usually very satisfied with the eyebrow threading done here. The price is really great and affordable considering to a lot of places charge $12+ just for eyebrows. The eyebrow threading was $7 on my most recent visit, plus $5 for upper lip. Let them know beforehand what'd you like (thicker/thinner, arch, etc.) and they try to accommodate your request as best as they can. After threading, they do a little cleaning up with scissors but are very careful. Bonus: they give you a nice mini eyebrow massage at the end if you do threading! read more

I originally found Puspa spa a few days after their grand-opening, and am happy that I did! I have seen Puspa more than 5 times already, and I have never had any issues. My eyebrows have always turned out beautifully. She doesn't rush you through the appointment, and takes extra time to make sure your eyebrows look their best. She is very pleasant and easy to work with. Puspa is also very flexible with her schedule. Give her a call, and she'll set a time with you! I have been going to Puspa's spa for over a year now....best decision I have ever taken. Puspa has a gentle touch when threading my eyebrows and my delicate, allergy prone skin. Show Puspa the shape of brows you like and she will give you her opinion and voila! Eyebrows on fleek! I got to know Puspa through my eyebrows but one day she offered to give me a facial. At first I was a bit skeptical but I gave it a try and I do not regret it one bit! My skin was dull, I had breakouts and too many blackheads. I asked for a deep pore cleansing facial but Puspa did a customized facial due to my skin being dry on the cheeks and oily on the T zone. Facials are done with Dermalogica products. My facial began with my eyes being covered with moisturizing pads, followed by the skin being cleansed. Puspa then evaluated my skin and customized the masks. On the T zone she used an enzyme peel and on my cheeks a delicate exfoliator. My face was steamed for a few minutes and then the extraction began. The extraction can be a bit painful depending on the amount of blackheads you have. A facial and neck massage almost put me to sleep prior to the mud masks being applied on my skin. After 15 minutes Puspa removed the masks and applied an anti-aging dermalogica serum followed by moisturizer and finally sun block. When I looked at myself I was so pleasantly surprised at how smooth, clean and luminous my skin looked! I have been coming back since then and have referred all of my friends and family! read more

The facials are amazing and Puspa takes her time and really focuses in on what your skin needs at that point in time. The bad: The staff is a mixed bag when it comes to experience and skill, so I always stick to Puspa. I come here for eyebrows because it's cheaper. I had a facial here the first time it was great. The second time she rushed me and her hands smelt like spices and/or garlic? It was kinda gross since she was touching my face. The facial was supposed to be for 1hr but she rushed me out within 35-40 mins. Sometimes it's good sometimes the service is bad. ------------------- Update: I no longer go here as service is poor and not worth my money. I found a new eyebrow place that charges the same amount. People at puspa spa never cared about how the eyebrows looked, mine were never even and the shape was horrible. They always removed hair at the wrong angles which caused the shape to look weird. If I ever tried to show them that I had extra hair left or if they weren't even, they would get annoyed with me. Last time I checked I was the customer, I should be treated as one. I have been going to this place for 4 years for all my beauty needs and can't imagine going anywhere else. Right now I am getting my treatments done from the owner (Puspa) on my face for laser hair removal and I am on my second treatment. After my first treatment of laser hair removal, I saw a difference within a week and it was amazing and gave me hope. My hair stopped growing after the first treatment and face cleared up so much. It was not painful as I imagined it would be, was very impressed with Puspa. She explained the process to me before I started to get the treatments done and answered all of my questions and made sure I was comfortable. Finally! A great threader in Northern VA that also has great customer service skills! It can be a bit tricky to find because they are inside the Grand Mart International Food grocery store. Don't let the location fool you or keep you away though. This might not be a standard threading location...but this is the best threading job I have had thus far in the Reston/Sterling/Herndon area! It was $17 for my eyebrows, upper lip, and chin! She even did a quick facial massage before I sat up in the chair. I came here based off reviews and needing somewhere close to my office for threading. They were very nice but the way they went about the service was not quiet right. They did not clean my face beforehand and they used 'equate' brand lotion in between threading which is an inexpensive Walmart brand lotion; it contains too much perfume scent and is not meant to go into open pores! I immediately washed off the lotion when I got home but it was too late and my face broke out to the point I had really bad cystic pimples and it took two weeks for my skin to come close to normal. Cheap products on your skin and in open pores do not mix! I had to put lavender and tea tree oil like crazy to stop the discomfort. This was my first time getting a brazillian wax and I was pretty apprehensive. I called in and they were able to book an appointment, even though I called at such late notice. I came in and was greeted by the friendly employees. Puspa greeted me and she took me into the room and explained what was going to happen since I told her this was my first time. She was very considerate and to be honest, the whole experience was not as painful as I thought. Just let Them know beforehand if you have sensitive skin so that they do not put baby oil or lotion on you. Puspa also threaded my eyebrows and they look great! I have been here a few years ago and I would have given this place 5 stars. However, my second visit a couple months ago wasn't as great. I called and schedule an appointment the same day. I thought it was amazing that they could squeeze me in such short notice. However, I showed up on time and I was waiting for my service for awhile. I was then taken my a technician for a Brazilian. I wasn't familiar with her but she was not Puspa. I have a high tolerance for pain but that lady wasn't that experienced in giving Brazilians and it did hurt. Also, a couple days later I noticed many ingrown hairs and bumps. It could have been the soft wax that they use. I'm honestly not going to go back here for my Brazilians but I may consider going for my facial waxings instead. read more

I've been a loyal customer of Puspas for over 2 years now. Every visit was unpleasant however I continued to go because she threaded eyebrows well. Unfortunately their service is horrible! One day I went to get my brows done after I got my nose pierced. Puspa was not there that day so I let another employee do my brows. She somehow managed to get my nose ring stuck in between the thread and yanked out my piercing. It was very upsetting because I just paid $60 for the piercing, it was very painful, and I still had to pay for my brows after that incident. There has been numerous times where I called Puspa, scheduled a brow appointment and even though I've arrived on time she was busy doing a facial or a massage which resulted in me having to wait up to an hour until she finished. The facility is clean and they offer wide variety of services similar to any day spa. The downside is that whenever I had overgrowth of eyebrows they charged me extra for that. I think that was totally unreasonable. Since I always went to get my eyebrows threaded only, I do not know why they would ask for tips as well. Tips are given by customers if they want to, you do not ask for it. Besides that, I went there to get henna done but was totally disappointed. They offer henna services but none of the employees know how to apply henna designs. Why would you offer services that your hired employees cannot provide? As I entered,as usual I was greeted warmly,and asked to go to the room for wax with puspa herself.in 10 minutes she did my Brazilian wax which was so fast and not too much pain. After that she recommended me to try their 15 minutes body oil massage for $15 for stress relief.So I decided to give it a try and honestly after 30 minutes I felt I'm not stressed out any more and all my stress was gone away.
