This place is a joke! They hire physical therapists who get…read moretheir license in a Cracker Jack box. Do not go here. They do not take their patients seriously. They do not look at their patient's charts. They will test you and use you as a guinea pig. It's play time for them. I was nearly healed thanks to my amazing chiropractor, who always had to undo the damage these so-called "doctors" would do by telling a person with a disc herniation from a car accident their kooky version of what physical therapy is -- like: walking across the gym floor holding a 20 pound dumbell in one hand and a 5 pound dumbell in another, while walking on my heels!! NOTE, I am petite, only a size 4 and not even 120 pounds! Plus, I had an injury! I was in so much pain, their Director of Operations (DoO), said I'd do better in their West Caldwell facility. (I later realized DoO was not concerned about me, but rather pushing the new West Caldwell facility! I was such a fool for listening to this snake oil salesman!) Anyway husband took a day off work to meet with him. And my husband said, "Just because my wife is in great shape, it doesn't mean she's not in pain." He looked my husband right in the eye and promised my husband that I'd be in good hands in West Caldwell. WRONG! I actually was okay until the PT I was working with went on vacation. Before this, I was 5-days straight absolutely pain free! THEN they paired me with a so-called "doctor" who thought it was okay to bend over and do repetitive squats with my butt sticking out holding a 10 pound weight. And I told her, "MY CHIROPRACTOR SAID NO SQUATS!" She did not listen and insisted it was okay. Her sassy remark was, "You carry groceries, don't you?" So rude and foolish! Uh, ma'am, no, my husband carries my groceries. And when I do carry groceries, I don't do squats with them. DUH! Anyway, after this so called "doctor" (who I looked up and is just a mere prenatal Pilates instructor, not at all a doctor) had me in such horrible pain!! I couldn't sleep that night and was crying in my husband's arms for hours. During the night I sent several emails to express my concern to the director of operations who promised me I'd be in good hands. ALSO NOTE, he said that this "doctor" reviewed my case. She reviewed NOTHING! She blindly made me do squats holding a 10 pound weight when I told her NO. THEN she asks me where the disc herniation was. I said, "Didn't you look at my chart?" She admitted she did not look at my chart. Caught in a lie. The DoO assured me that she read my chart. The owner Jack, sends me an email saying that I was the problem and that I'm stressing out their people. LMAO! Oh, dear, I am so sorry that I expressed I was in pain because your people don't know how to listen or how to read people's charts. THEN my husband called to speak with them directly. And in a cowardly manner, NO ONE got on the phone to speak with my husband. Is this how you treat your patients? Unacceptable. YOU ARE A FAILURE! Go on Google and you will see that other people dislike this place too and give bad reviews. It's one month since that pilates instructor got her paws on me and I'm still not feeling as good as I was beforehand. DO NOT GO HERE! These people are inexperienced and not passionate about their work at all. In fact the "doctor" said the reason she was in physical therapy was because she didn't want to go to medical school. She was also telling me about her divorce, which was unprofessional. I'm a patient -- I do not care about your life, honestly. I tell everyone how bad this place is. Other doctors shake their heads when I explain what happened here. One month later I'm still shaking my head. It's truly baffling. I have many friends in Livingston, West Caldwell, and Little Falls and told them to spread the word, not to go to this facility. It's an epic FAIL!

Each person taught me something different and useful. You can't go wrong with any of the PTs here. They really helped me through a difficult and painful time after I tore my ACL. I feel much better now and have learned skills that I will use in the future. The PT assistants and front desk staff are also lovely and helpful. The acupuncturists are also amazing and I high recommend. Extremely gentle and helped tremendously.

I did try PT at several other locations prior to contacting Adapt. When I first went to Adapt, I did not think I would be able to do things I used to do such as weightlifting, running, or squatting. I signed up for 40 sessions. I stuck with their treatment and guidance, giving 100% effort and commitment. After 35 sessions, I realized I was generally feeling better. For my last five sessions David got me to a level I only dreamed was possible! David gave full effort every time I went for treatment. He is caring and he is very skilled at determining the best course of treatment. I am now feeling about 99% like my old self. Often I feel 100%. I am ecstatic with the results! I can now lift weights, run, and do squats with no pain or issues! I am super active and have so much more confidence in my conditioning and abilities. I thank Adapt for their amazing treatment and making my positive outcome a reality! Also, Caroline, the front office manager, is genuinely concerned about patents' outcomes. She was the first person I spoke to when I contacted Adapt. She has been so caring and sympathetic with me throughout the whole process. It is easy to think things will not work out when you work hard and results do not come as quickly as you expect. Both David and Caroline gave me the confidence I needed to stick to the plan. Prior to attending this clinic I would go through periods where my back would feel decent & periods were I would have to miss more than 1 week of work at a time, went to the hospital, etc. I always had success with my symptoms at other physical therapy places but I never seemed to get to the root of the problem & find a long term solution until I met Dr. Nicholas Dass. Over the last year not only has my back pain pretty much diminished to almost nothing but I also can actually touch my toes when flexing forward. This is something I have NEVER been able to accomplish in my life as I am not a flexible person. There was no stretching involved. It was all his unique approach and skill set combined with my willingness to put the required work effort in. Dr. Nick has given me my life back. I could not workout for the last 2 years and had put weight on. I now belong to a gym, am working out, & working on losing that weight I had gained. I can also play darts again (a hobby of mine that I love). More importantly, he has given me my independence back where I do not feel that this chronic issue owns me any longer. The staff at SportsMed Physical Therapy in Wayne have been taking care of my 72 year old mother for a few months now and she has definitely improved. My mom has issues with her neck and back but mostly she has nerve damage to her legs which have caused her to have severe balance problems and pain and swelling in her knees and ankles. I am writing this review not only because they are treating her well at Sportsmed and I have seen improvement in her motion and abilities but because the entire staff are some of the most genuinely caring people I have met. The whole crew, from the doctors, therapist, assistants and front desk receptionist are some of the sweetest and most accommodating people I have had the pleasure of dealing with. Dr. Dave Hotaling is great, he sincerely wants to see improvement in his patients. His treatments and exercise regimen for my mom's legs have done wonders for his "mi amiga". Dr. John, the chiropractor, has helped with her neck and back. And the staff? They are kind, thoughtful and patient with my mother. They even offer transportation, which really helped us when my schedule changed and I was no longer able to take my mom to her appointments. Like I said, accommodating! Everyone on the team shines bright but I would like to especially thank driver Mel, Erin, Andy, Kat, Ryan and Jordan! The goal at SportsMed for my mom since day one has been for her to be able to walk up and down stairs without pain. We are closer but are not there yet, but I am sure that with the staff's continued help and treatment, in time we will achieve it!!!

The first time I went for my current injury, I had to wait for almost a half hour. I was then told that I could come back another day because the DPT was busy. I responded by saying I was there now. I'll wait. When I finally got in to get diagnosed, there were a ton of people in there. The DPT listened to my description of my injury and without even examining me, told me what my injury was. There were so many interruptions at this point I wanted to walk out. But, I stayed to a continuing stream of interruptions during the time on was on the examining table when she finally examined me, almost an hour after I walked in the door. Against my better judgment, I made another appointment. When I showed up for the next appointment, I again had to wait. Again, there were a ton of people there. The assistant PT had no idea what I was supposed to be doing and had to continuously go back and forth to the DPT who was again dealing with multiple people. I just walked out. They couldn't care less about me walking out and canceling all my appointments. Despite its name, this PT place isn't geared to athletic injuries. It is dominated by older people. (There is nothing wrong with that. Just don't advertise that you gear to sports. For example, the DPT clearly wasn't an athlete.) It appears that the service that was once the cornerstone of this place is gone. It seems that it is all about getting as many people in the door as possible (Read: $$$$). That afternoon I made an appointment with Sportscare. They are very passionate about what they do. I will never return to SportsMed.

A Very "Fluid" Situation With A Real Happy Ending,…read more I am a 64 year old semi-retired Executive Chef from Verona, NJ. I remember, quite vividly, being a strong and competent leader while I worked in professional kitchens all across the country. One thing I demanded, from my workers, was for them to honor and uphold their personal pledge to uphold and honor the word "perfection". God knows none of us are perfect in our ways but it is challenging to try to be a great example especially in our workplace and in our homes with our loving families. I really enjoy meeting new friends and working with people who are "perfectionists" in their ways. I also enjoy people who are good teachers. I love listening and learning new things each and every day. Several months ago, I took a terrible fall in my bathroom, in the dead of night, and fractured my humerus bone in my shoulder, in 5 different places. To make a very long story short, my team of doctors elected not to do complete shoulder replacement surgery right away. Instead physical therapy would play the most important role. I was pretty damn frustrated too because #1, I was in a lot of physical pain and #2, I have already had two new hips replaced and three back surgeries during the course of the last 5 years. Believe me, going back to rehab was not in this Chef's plans again! One day (even before my accident), one of my registered nurse friends noticed deep and troubling swelling coming from my feet and my legs. She was worried that edema (an evil bodily fluid) was penetrating my body and perhaps even headed to my heart. Honestly, I thought nothing of it until I couldn't put on my sneakers on my feet anymore. I went to my family doctor who urgently sent me to the local hospital for 8 grueling hours worth of testing. They ruled out congestive heart failure but, instead, they sent me to a vascular specialist. They checked me every which way they could for blood clots and vascular damage. The results? No blockages or major vascular issues whatsoever. Instead, I had developed a chronic case of lymphodema. My wife and I both looked at each other and, at the same time, we both said "what the hell is that"? From there, I was recommended to one of two lymphodema treatment centers in northern New Jersey. When we first called their office, they did not have a first appointment for well over a month. Perseverance from my vascular surgeon and my wife both paid off greatly and I was able to get in to Omni Physical Therapy Center located at 1018 Broad Street in Bloomfield. Six weeks ago, I had the high honor and the great pleasure of meeting the two professional therapists there, Oscar and Ana Pozzoli (a married couple), who specialize in the treatment of this very dangerous condition. Upon my very first appointment, my legs and my feet were measured and, after a complete size up and a thorough examination, Ana let me know that I was in for a very long haul to remedy the situation. Oscar and Ana sat me down to explain and outline everything. Their "matter of fact" demeanor and their "perfect" professional and medical knowledge was both comforting and awe inspiring. It's been about 5 weeks since I started (3 times a week). The lymphodema (or the swelling) has decreased in my lower limbs by almost 8 centimeters. That's truly amazing! During one of my weekly visits, I asked Ana and Oscar a very important question. Why don't more people know about lymphodema or lipidema (which affects ladies)? I am sure that you know a relative or a friend who may have abnormal swelling going on in their limbs or upper body. It is a condition that should not be ignored or brushed off. Please first check with your family doctor because a vascular specialist will have to rule out blood clots or other physical ailments. If you are diagnosed with lymphodema or lipidema, than I have found the "perfect" therapy center just for you! Ana, Oscar, Maribel (their wonderful assistant) and their cute little dog, Dora will welcome you with open arms or open "paws". It is nice to know that caring and ultra intelligent medical professionals really do exist in this world of ours. I am so grateful to both of them. I have to wear compression hosiery for the rest of my life (no skirt jokes please!) but it's a small price to pay for getting my health back in order. Ana and Oscar are now rehabilitating my broken shoulder and, in just two visits, I already have much more range of motion back. Are they miracle workers? Maybe. Perfectionists? Without a doubt! By the time that I walked into Ascend Physical Therapy in early July I had significant limited mobility and discomfort. Lisa, the Physical Therapist and Patti, her assistant are miracle workers! They work in tandem like a finely oiled machine while also demonstrating compassion. Each appointment they ask how you are feeling and I had a sense that they were really listening. I was discharged today with a youthful pep in my step. I have sincere appreciation for their dedication, knowledge and compassion. The facility itself is clean and modern. There's off-street parking as well, which is always a plus in Montclair! Highly recommend.

I then proceeded to break my elbow and once again Lisa got my arm back to normal rotation.. But today Lisa helped me beyond her incredible pt talents. I am facing foot surgery and she gave me advice to call my surgeon to start scheduling now if I wanted the surgery at the end of the month and not to wait until my appointment. She was correct. Dr is now making the necessary plans. Lisa also made me aware of equipment I will need during my two month recuperation in a non walking cast. Ues, Ascend is a full service therapy business. And I haven't even discussed Patty. She gets all insurance forms submitted, makes sure my appointments are made and calls when new appointment spots open up that might be more convenient for my schedule. She is also the friendly face I need when my life is taking turns that I am not expecting. There is no place better for your therapy needs.
