My elderly mom lives in coastal SC, and when my husband and I needed to move her to a smaller home,…read morewe utilized Two Men and a Truck. We are all too old for a "pizza and beer" style move. Troy, the representative who helped me through the pre-move estimate and paperwork, was wonderful to work with. We weren't 100% sure on the date of our move at first, and they were willing to wait and work with us to make sure we got the earliest date possible but best date for us. Troy's estimate also recommended three men, which we were fine with and booked. We received a call about 30 minutes before they arrived, and once they arrived, they got to work. When you book Two Men and a Truck, you're charged a travel fee and an hourly rate. I was worried that in a rural area, we would be charged a higher travel fee, but we were not. The company has a large service area. The three gentlemen who moved my mom's two-story home to the smaller one-story ranch did an excellent job. The price was incredibly fair for the service and professionalism we received. Nothing was broken, and the crew took good care of my mom's belongings as if it were their family member's move. they provided recommendations on where to place furniture in my mom's new-to-her home. Everyone was super professional and worked FAST. In fact, they finished the move a bit earlier than we expected. Paying with credit card or cash after our service was very easy, and we gave a well-earned cash tip. I recommend Two Men and a Truck for anyone in the Grand Strand for a move. I'm sure my mom will be recommending them as well by word of mouth Yelping.

However, they were horribly inefficient. It took a four man crew twice as long to move us out of the apartment as it had taken a 2 man crew to move us into the apartment with the same amount of stuff. Also, we had some bags with personal items in a corner that we said we would move ourselves. They insisted multiple times they needed the bags to use as filler in the truck, and when we finally said ok it took extra time for them to use an unnecessary amount of tape on the bags. Furthermore, we had a couch in the bedroom and this crew could not figure out how to move my couch without taking the bedroom door off its hinges- the whole process took an hour, which was problematic as we were paying $225 an hour. That couch has been through six moves with me- 2 of those times I personally moved with the help of an older uncle and it has never taken an hour to move because it's not a terribly heavy couch. In addition to the inefficiencies, we still have bookshelves, a glass insert, and a remote control that they packed up missing. Lastly, I had several boxes marked fragile in big, bold letters and the crew stacked heavy boxes on top of my fragile items.

If I could give this Box and Dolly a grade, it would be 110% out of 100%. Box and Dolly exceeded my…read moreexpectations by going above and beyond their job to provide support for me as a customer during my time of need. I am six months pregnant (25 weeks at the time) and alone because my husband moved to PA for a job. I was left with 70% of the house to pack and of course needed help. We agreed to get a U-Haul and hire movers to put the stuff in the truck, then my husband would fly back down to NC to drive the truck. After doing searching reviews on both google and yelp, I contacted a few different companies for a quote. Box & Dolly/Mr. Gibbs reached out to me via phone to communicate his services and rate. He was personable but also very transparent and straight forward about his fee which was 1 flat hourly rate. The day of move, Mr. Gibbs and two other men got there 15 mins early and I was able to show them what needed to stay/go. They laid down a runners throughout the house (to not damage the floor) and got to work. He quickly realized there was something wrong with the U-Haul when he started it to move it. I called U-Haul and got the most wasteful runaround for about 30 mins. Mr. Gibbs picked up the phone and called the U-Haul on Bragg Blvd and was able to get an emergency switch within 2 minutes. Again, I was alone, so Mr. Gibbs offered to give me a ride to the U-Haul. The truck BEARLY went over 30 mph and sounded like it was on the brink of exploding. Mr. Gibbs drove the truck to the Bragg Blvd location and even negotiated an upgrade (larger truck) on my behalf for the inconvenience. At the end, he did not charge me for the almost hour and a half it took to switch the truck out. There's no doubt in my mind that if I hired another moving company, they would have loaded the faulty truck and it would have been our problem after that. There was absolutely no way the first truck was going to make it out of my driveway once it was loaded. To say I highly recommend this company is an understatement. They also took special care to wrap and disassembled furniture. They also were meticulous about packing the truck. When we arrived in PA, our items had not shifted and was not damaged.

Our move-in date was 5/31, so we had already adjusted plans and paid extra to move everything a day earlier. The day before the move, College HUNKS confirmed the appointment with my husband and told us we would receive a call between 12-2 PM when they were 30 minutes out. At 1:40 PM the day of the move, I called to confirm and was reassured the appointment was still in the system and happening, and that the movers would be calling us shortly. At 2:15 PM, my husband received a call from the manager stating they were canceling due to weather and "closing up shop for the day." This was after we had already been waiting through the scheduled window, with no prior notice or attempt to communicate earlier, despite weather conditions being forecast in advance. When my husband explained we could not delay the move until Monday due to lease constraints, we were essentially told there was nothing they could do. At that point, we were left stranded on moving day, having already moved multiple carloads ourselves and with no ability to physically complete the rest of the move without professional help. There was no meaningful effort to problem-solve or provide alternatives that aligned with our situation. The situation escalated further when I attempted to speak with management directly. I called the main number, which went to voicemail, and then called from my husband's phone, which turned out to be the manager Devin's direct work phone. The call began unprofessionally, and while I initially apologized for reaching him directly, I explained the situation in detail. Although there was acknowledgment of weather-related issues, there was no real solution offered beyond "trying Monday," which was not feasible for us. During the conversation, when I was visibly upset due to the stress of being left without movers on a critical moving day, the interaction became increasingly tense. The call ended abruptly after I expressed frustration with the situation as a whole, and I attempted to clarify afterward via text that my frustration was with the circumstances--not a personal attack--but I received no response. To make matters worse, I have also been trying to obtain a refund of my $99 deposit. I was told twice that a refund request would be submitted on my behalf, only to later find out that it had not actually been processed either time. Since then, I have been met with silence, repeated delays, and what feels like avoidance of calls and follow-up communication altogether. There has been no resolution, no confirmation of refund status, and no accountability regarding why the request was never submitted as stated. Overall, this has been an extremely unprofessional and stressful experience during what was already a high-pressure moving situation. Being left without movers on moving day and then having to repeatedly chase a basic refund that was promised but never processed is unacceptable. I would not recommend this company based on our experience.
