So you have to set your expectations correctly. Within 20 miles or more, there's really nothing else like a mall. Some of the stores are going to be a bit weird, or will go out of business after a few months, or whatever. As it is, this mall served its purpose; something for us to do for an hour or so to kill some time when it was raining. There was a book store that was not bad, and a foreign market which had some unique foods. If I lived in the area, I'm sure I'd be dropping the kids off here to run around and hang out for a while.

The company produces beauty and skincare items made from goat milk. The couple owns and operates a 100 goat farm in Sharon Springs and sources goat milk from other US farms to produce the full product line. Their retail store here is beautifully designed and well stocked. I was completely unfamiliar with this brand but it apparently has quite a following. I tried their goat milk lip balm which is fine but IMO not the best lip balm I've ever used. Service here was friendly and kind. Would definitely stop in again and maybe try their soaps.

I got a fabulous, signed hooked rug in decent condition for around $50, and the prices on old matchbooks and beautiful ladies' handkerchiefs in pristine condition were excellent. Had fun rummaging through vintage photos, old toys and games, kitchenware, a massive lamp and lampshade collection, and tons of other cool stuff in room after room of ephemera and significa.

One day on my way to the hospital, I decided to try to clear my head and do some searching for an anniversary gift for my wife. She absolutely loves Jorge Posada. I looked at a couple of stores, but didn't find anything worth while. Then I walked into Paterno Brothers Sports. I looked on their one wall and I couldn't believe what I saw. They had a certified authentic, autographed baseball by Jorge Posada. So, I asked them to see it. I then asked if they had anything else autographed by him. They said yes. So, I was shown an autographed book. It was Jorge's autobiography. At first, when he said he had a book, I thought it was the one that he and his wife had written about their child with cranio. I only say that because I told the gentlemen my son's story of cranio, and how Jorge's and Mrs. Posada's book helped my wife with so much during that time. Not looking for a discount, the gentlemen then said he would give me a discount and to tell my wife that he hopes she has a great anniversary year. I was taken aback by his generosity. But it doesn't end there. When we went up to the counter, he asked where my wife and I live. I told him that I am stationed in Okinawa. He thanked me for my service (I still don't know how to properly respond to that except to thank a person back). He told me how to ring out on his IPad teller and said he would be right back. Now, at this point, I was only purchasing the autographed baseball. After I signed and was done emailing myself a receipt, he then presented me the autographed book with another thank you for my service. My jaw dropped! I couldn't believe the amount of generosity that this man had. It will forever stick with me. I even almost left my credit card. I want to thank the Paterno Brothers for making my stressful trip into one that I will remember for the rest of my life. Your generosity means so much that I can't thank you enough! Thank you and I will make sure that I return to your store for the rest of my life.
