had a really disappointing experience with El Diamanté Dominican Food…read more When I first reached out to place an order and try her food, my messages were ignored for weeks. Out of curiosity, I sent another message mentioning I "knew Drake," and suddenly I got a response within 2 hours--ready to take my order. That alone didn't sit right with me. When I asked to see a menu, I was told I was "wasting her time" if I wasn't placing a catering order. We briefly discussed dates, and I was told she was booked for the rest of the month. When I politely asked when she would be available, I was left on read with no response. She had no intentions of taking my order. It honestly felt like she only responded just to tell me "I WAS WASTING HER TIME‼." That interaction made me feel discriminated against, shamed, and honestly just sad. I truly feel like if I were a celebrity or had more money, I would have been treated with basic respect. I'm new to Los Angeles and was genuinely excited to try Caribbean food since we don't have it where I'm from. This experience really discouraged me. It even made me question myself and feel like something was wrong with me, which shouldn't happen from simply trying to support a business. Overall, the customer service I experienced was rude and dismissive--at least toward me--and it completely turned me off from ever wanting to try the food. Customer service matters, and this experience made me lose interest in trying the food altogether.

I decided to try this place after seeing it recommended by LA Try Guy, and I also have a Senegalese…read morefriend who told me she knows the people behind the restaurant and that the food was good. I already enjoy Senegalese food, so I was looking forward to trying it. My first order was actually canceled because they were out of oxtails, so I reordered and tried several other items instead. The shrimp fritters were probably my biggest disappointment. They were extremely oily. I tried blotting them with napkins, and there was a significant amount of oil left on the napkins and still all over my hands. If you don't like heavily fried, oily food, I would stay away from these. I also ordered the fried fish. It wasn't necessarily bad, but it wasn't what I expected from something described as fried fish. It was also very bland. There wasn't much seasoning or flavor to it, and I ended up adding my own fish seasoning at home. The curry rice with beef was another 5/10 for me. The beef stew portion was very oily, and while it wasn't bad, the flavor profile was pretty flat. The meat wasn't especially tender, but it wasn't terribly tough either. It was just okay. The rice itself was also lacking flavor. Surprisingly, the salad was probably one of the better parts of the meal. It was refreshing, had a little spiciness to it, and had some flavors that were different from what I'm used to in a good way. The plantains were also much oilier than I prefer. I tried the chicken wrap as well. Again, it wasn't bad, but it was just okay. The biggest issue was that it wasn't wrapped properly and was already falling apart before I could really pick it up and eat it. Overall, the recurring issue throughout the meal was the amount of oil. I also felt the portions were fairly small for the price. I spent around $91, and for that amount I expected either larger portions or food that really stood out in terms of flavor. Overall: 5/10. Would I go back? Probably not. Nothing I tried was so good that I feel like I need to have it again. The salad was refreshing, but there wasn't really a standout dish that would bring me back. I'm still searching for an African restaurant where the food makes me immediately think, "Yes, I have to come back for this."

Very salty. I'm assuming maybe they sold out? I just wish they would have called or something but. Idk it's still good food I just hope it's more consistent in the future. I really like this spot so I don't want to harp but it did make me sad bc I was really looking forward to the Chicken plate

I really felt compelled to let y'all in on this gem! Life has been crazy busy and I'm sure all of you can relate! I've graduated to a different part of adulthood and it called for some next level adult shit. MEAL PREPS. Yo, meal preps are a LIFE CHANGER. The owner DeJean has this shit on lock! I'm picky AF when it comes to clean eating and he definitely comes through! All the meals are made really well and to my surprise, the seasoning was done really well! I eat like a bird so portions are important for me. I don't like feeling like I waste food so I love that he accommodates! And not to be that person but trust me, I've shopped around different options-- the quality of food you get and the price you get for it.. SO GOOD. I still can't believe I'm telling y'all about it!

I don't have time to cook often and having so many options is a lifesaver. Anything is better than cooking meal prep chicken the same time a hundred week in a row. This stuff tastes like thanksgiving dinner, and I don't have to feel bad about eating it haha. The quality is high, and you can tell the ingredients are pretty fresh too. Above all else, they're portable. I can take these suckers to work unlike some of meals I've tried

I ended up feeding the meter once, so it was maybe 1 hour. The wait line was long, but I went early so it wasn't too bad. Summer is probably not the ideal time to visit! hahaha. The interior has a typical, cool brewery vibe, and they have a nice-sized patio, too. Let's get to the food. We had the Beef Ribs, Pork Belly Burnt Ends, Tri-TIp Burger (or maybe it was Brisket), and two sides. Obviously, we couldn't finish it all, but we wanted to taste a few things in one visit. Unfortunately, the pork belly burnt ends were too dry for my liking, and the sides were just ok. Overall, the food was only good-ish for me. I feel like I don't need to drive all the way here when I can find the same quality BBQ restaurants throughout the city. But if you love BBQ, it might still be fun to try this place.

*Vegin' Out-standing Ovation*…read more {{{Special Review #250 for one of my all-time favorite vegan joints}}} Still some of the best vegan food & delivery service around. Everything is heart healthy & tasty, containing nothing but the finest ingredients...and mostly oil-free. Different menus every week with some items duplicated throughout any given month...and the following months too. Most of the entrees & sides are inspired by Indian, Asian, Mediterranean, Persian and Italian food...and some are offered as gluten-free too. For me, some of the sides are like an entree and vice versa. Some of the portions appear slightly small...but they pack it inside the containers so there's more than it looks...and I always have enough food for 5-6 days worth of meals -- sometimes even more if & when I add my own vegan food & veggies to maximize servings. All their organic veggies & produce are crisp & fresh... Their vegan soups are all unique & delicious... The vegan cookies are very tasty...and usually gobbled up within a day or two :) But they're not GF... They offer discounts for first-time customers and reoccurring subscriptions too... There's a cool Yelp discount being offered right now... Always pleased with their customer service...and do whatever they can to fulfill special requests and dietary restrictions.... Delivery is always on-time and kept cold inside the packaging...and they provide reusable cloth bags with zippers that last years... Their packaging is all environmentally safe & recyclable... They used to service only Los Angeles and some surrounding Counties...but now they've expanded Nationwide for an extra delivery charge of course. Whether you're vegan or not or the new kid on the block, it's definitely worth trying. It's no wonder they've been in business since 2008...and I think I was one of their 1st customers :) Not much more I can say or write...so check out their website...step-up to the plate...and your taste buds will be knocked out of the park. {{{Big High Fives}}} Grandslam I'm a fan.
