I have gone to out of state Y's and have had difficulties being recognized as a national member. It has to do with the fact that I joined at the river Plex, which is a fuzzy area as far as the national YMCA network. I've tried to work this through the YMCA administrative office in Peoria with no results. The workaround is when you try to go to an out-of-state facility and they don't see you in their national database, you have to go through the hassle of having that out-of-state Y call back to a Peoria YMCA to verify your membership. That is very disappointing since I travel frequently and run into this roadblock.

While soaking in front of a huge glass window in the hot tub, you can actually see the bald eagles nesting in the trees on the other side of the Illinois River! But that's about it. The place is being run by idiots, all on the city payroll -- usually guys wearing tight body shirts who spend most of their time working out on the machines while giving scant attention to the "problems" all around them. The workout machine area overlooking all of this is virtually deserted with no supervision and no customers, particularly in the evening hours after work (one has to wonder why?). This encourages pilfering and chronic theft in the locker areas, among other things. Then a white school bus arrives and unloads various people on a hot summer day, who stand around talking to each other in the Olympic-size pool, thus preventing anyone from swimming laps until after they and their white bus leave two hours later. If one tries to complain, a guy in a tight body shirt comes over to tell you your behavior is not acceptable. Meanwhile, the people off the bus could be drowning from no supervision for all he knows because, up to then, he and his "crew" are busy talking to various types about tomorrow's big game at the events center! It is a big political operation to keep everyone happy during the summer heat and the drop-dead months of cold winter, so they will not throw rocks or steal hubcaps (as well as cars parked nearby) due to the lack of personal safety on the streets around the place --which has been funded by tax monies -- that is from those who pay taxes. Somebody made a lot of money building this place. Then they use it to stick it to the taxpaying citizens to keep some people "happy" who are "needy" and unhappy for whatever reasons. But watch for Mr. Body T. Shirt to run for mayor next time around, since he knows how to make the big shots with the real money happy.

The guy showing me around didn't say anything. Made me hesitant to go back until a month later since it's near where I live. Reception here is very weak, most of the time I do not have a signal. There is a trail nearby which is nice. Also an outdoor basketball court and bar gym. The equipment is in good shape. The bathrooms are clean. Front desk employees always greet me with a smile. But that one experience with racists is something I just can't brush off. I wish the staff member would have addressed it.

The lady at the registration desk was so friendly and helpful. She completed my paperwork in a timely fashion so I could get to the workout class on time. I was immediately greeted by the instructors. I went to two classes and I was greeted the same way in both classes. My fellow work out partners were friendly and helpful as well. I stopped at the desk to ask about lap swimming and classes for the following two day. This attendant highlighted classes that she thought I might be interested in attending.

From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and quick to help with any request-- they even accommodated our group meeting across their two buildings, providing a spacious, comfortable room for us to socialize. The room was cozy and well-appointed, with a convenient in-room coffee maker (perfect for grabbing a quick cup before heading down for breakfast). While the closet and bathroom are on the smaller side, they were perfectly adequate for a weekend stay. The shower had great water pressure--no weak trickle here--and though the shower head sits at about 6ft, as a 6'2" guest I found it just a touch short, but not enough to be an issue. Bed was comfortable and room was clean. Amenities are a real highlight. The pool is fantastic: a clever half-indoor, half-outdoor design that, in March, makes the indoor section especially welcoming. Breakfast was excellent, offering biscuits and gravy, made-to-order eggs, a pancake machine, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, and coffee in both bold and mild roasts. The location is also ideal--just steps from the river and marina, perfect for a scenic walk. One fun detail: don't miss ringing the big bell at the front desk--I couldn't resist! The only minor drawback is that the hot tub is currently out of service, but it's hardly a deal breaker. Overall, a highly recommended spot for a relaxing weekend or group stay. Small bar in lobby, already booked September stay. I saw post about maid service, for short stays you can request daily otherwise it every 3 days and is posted in bathroom.

Shower had someone's hair all in it and all over the floor. Fridge was leaking and dirty. Needed a full-length mirror in room. We had to call for a plunger and plunge our own toilet. property had overgrown trees and furniture that was tore and ripped. Both ice machines not working properly with an odor and making loud sounds. would like a voucher or compensation to stay at another time that the hot tub is working and with a better room

Phenomenal gym. Tons of updates…read more Previous reviewer seems to have only negative but has missed all of the fantastic updates and hard work the new owners have put in. As with any business a complete flip is always a process but these owners have the commitment to get the job done and make this place as functional for everyone of all age groups as possible. The smoothie bar is fantastic. The employees are always helpful and nice, as far as previous review about owner watching everyone come and go, I feel that this gym has a family atmosphere and the owners appreciate their customers and do not just want to hide out in their office as the previous owner of this establishment did. Furthermore, any time I have ever brought a concern to any of the employees (or owners since they are readily available) it has ALWAYS been addressed promptly and courteously. Wifi works tremendously and in 2019 I don't count on anyone to have the same music taste as me which is why I bring my headphones to the gym! Hands down best gym in the area for the money
