Their first visit was for Shrimp & Grits final kitten visit aka their last round of shots plus a little treatment for a nasty ear infection Shrimp was fighting. I believe this visit end up costing around ~$150. I was really pleased with how thoughtful and attentive both the vet and the assistant were with my many questions as a new kitten mom. The second visit was for a minor health issue with Shrimp. The vet gave me very thorough information and treatment for her. I believe this visit cost around ~$200, including urinalysis and other tests. Our most recent visit was for grooming for Grits. I've never had a long haired animal before and I was so thankful for the time Debbie took to explain how I could best maintain his coat and comfort! This visit, with a first time grooming discount, was $35. The receptionists and assistants are always incredibly kind & seem to really love animals. I'll happily be continuing to go to BSHV for my veterinary needs!

I ended up having to bring him elsewhere in order to get the proper medication for his allergic reaction. The two vets are very kind people. I had a positive experience with my dog's back injury lately. Pricing is definitely through the roof here, however. I think you can find the same care somewhere else for much cheaper. But, Broad St Vet is not a terrible option.

Drive 40 min up there, didn't have meds ready just charged us $40 for a written prescription that the pharmacy doesn't carry, called back asking them to refill it. They called back apologized said they would have the refill ready this evening. My husband drives 40 min again to-we can't give you the meds until you bring the prescription back (not telling me this on the phone this morning) so now driving 40 min there and back home 2 times with no meds. Will not be going back and do not recommend this place! They make it impossible to get meds elsewhere and they do not respect your time!

Once a Reliable Clinic--Now Deeply Disappointing…read more I've been taking my pets to Winterfield for well over a decade--likely since around 2008, when I first adopted my dog. For many years, I was satisfied with the care they provided. But recently, the level of service and professionalism has sharply declined. I'm left wondering what changed. Over the years, I've trusted them with a wide variety of animals--dogs, cats, sugar gliders, ferrets. I even once asked if they could see my Serama chickens, only to be laughed at over the phone. I'm not sure who they think is eating Seramas, but many people keep chickens as pets. For a veterinary clinic, that response was surprisingly dismissive. I expected more understanding and respect from professionals in animal care. I overlooked several concerning incidents in the past, but the growing pattern of questionable practices has become hard to ignore. A few examples: I was charged nearly $300 for a single antibiotic shot--without any prior disclosure. A simple heads-up would've been appreciated. I received a $20 bill for trimming a cat's rear fur--something that took five seconds and seemed more like a gesture of kindness than a billable service. A sugar glider died following a hernia repair. Basic supplies like needles, tubing, and saline were marked up 10-20 times their cost. I've repeatedly been upsold on tests that provided no real value to my pets' health. In my experience, unless a treatment involves something direct and tangible --like antibiotics or fluids--it rarely seems to make much of a difference. Once your pet is placed on a medication regimen, it feels like you're trapped in a cycle of ongoing costs, with little flexibility or empathy. I even took in a 19-year-old stray cat I found dying in the street--an act that came with significant financial responsibility. When I had to delay a follow-up due to a temporary lack of funds as I told them, I was charged a $20 no-show fee. It wasn't the cost that bothered me, but the lack of grace--especially after years of loyalty and thousands of dollars spent. I had also referred my father, who spent around $1,000, and I paid another $3,000 toward that same rescued cat--every cent paid in full. What stung most was the cold, scripted response. "Heather" speaks of "supporting you and your pet," over and over yet they refuse to release medical records until a measly $20 fee was paid, or tide your meds over for a few weeks. No exception. No empathy. No sense of loyalty. You'd think a long-time client in good standing might be offered a little understanding--maybe even a courtesy bag of fluids to tide the cat over, or a simple "don't worry about the fee this time." Instead, it was rigid policy over people, and cash over compassion. Winterfield may still be acceptable for routine visits. But if you're looking for transparency, understanding, or basic respect for your loyalty, I'd recommend going elsewhere. To them, your pet is a profit center. And when the money slows down, their compassion disappears, regardless of how long you've been with them.

I used to love this vet until they butchered my dog for no reason. The reason I was given was that…read morethe vet "couldn't remember which leg the bump was on, so she removed bumps from his front two legs", that weren't there and weren't bothering him. When I took him for his dental appointment and bump removal, I showed the tech the bump on his back left foot (that was stained from him licking at it and that the vet supposedly looked at when he was there a couple weeks before.) They also showed me a broken tooth at the visit a couple weeks before, which was the determining factor for me scheduling the procedure. When I dropped him off I was told the doctor would call me when she was done. Not only did NO ONE call me, but I called them to ask if he was done at 5:15pm to find out, "Oh he's been done, no one called you?" So, I rush to go pick him up and find out not only did they not remove the small bump they were supposed to, but that instead he has staples and chunks of both is front legs taken out. WHAT did they do to my baby boy? They were trying to close and rushed me out the door with him without giving me any of the medications and when I went back to the door to get them, they had already locked the door and I had to bang to get them to open it back up and they questioned me, trying to convince me they had given me his meds.. Fiinally, they gave me his meds and I left. (BTW they shorted him on the meds they gave him, they did not last as long as they said they would and he ran out.) I was told Dr. Sara White would call me that Monday, SHE NEVER HAS CALLED ME. Clearly I don't trust her to touch my boys again and I emailed and requested their records. The records they sent weren't the right records for each dog and again they tried to convince me they were. Finally, I get the records, I still have not received the xrays I paid for the day of the surgery and have requested SEVERAL times, but even their office notes are wrong! At the visit they showed me his broken tooth (the note does not reflect this) and determined he needed dental cleaning and the bump removal, says the bump was on the right hind leg, (it's always been the left back foot) it also said he had light tartar (They showed me different) and no broken or fractured teeth (yeah they showed me that too.) This place used to be nice, but since I've seen Sara White my trust in this clinic is gone. I noticed even when we were in visits with her, she was always dismissive to anything I said. She would ask a question and then just dismiss the answer. I thought maybe I was being sensitive, but now that I look back. I should have known better and NEVER SHOULD HAVE TRUSTED HER with my baby boy!

She had a veterinary student join us, which I also really loved. The environment is very calming and offers plenty of room to get comfortable. We sat on the floor while Dr. Garland went over some forms we filled out and really got to know my dog's personality and understand her medical issues. She was so very patient with my hyper dog and extremely knowledgeable and very good at relaying information to the lay person. We decided to purchase the package she offers for acupuncture/ laser therapy. The front desk staff were all so welcoming and friendly as well!
