Pure pop = Pure love. They are hands down the best place in Burlington to go for all your music needs. Ample CDs, records/vinyl (new and old), posters, local band music & merch, you name it! The steps down into the store (it's below street level) are a bit steep but don't let the poster-lined entry way deter you. It's possible that you've even walked past it a million times downtown but it's definitely worth the stop in. My favorite part about Pure Pop, other than the fact that they carry such a diverse array of music, but also that they have several recommendation racks, a sampling from a variety of tastes, along with listening stations to inspire your musical preferences. I've had great luck finding new music and inspiration here and would suggest if you're in a musical slump that you head down, pop on a pair of headphones, and start punching through CDs. Also, they have a small stash of posters for the taking, so look for the bin on your left/under the first shelves of CDs as you first walk in.

Happiest guy in the world with this new release of Howard Shore's soundtrack to The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. Thanks, Pure Pop!!

Overrated. Stopped in to find some Tragically Hip albums and they had the same selection as the mall store. Good selection of indie music.

My only complaint is that I'd need to drive up to Burlington to get some new vinyl. I guess that isn't entirely a bad thing. Great shop.

Unsurprisingly it's mostly indie rock, but there's a nice amount of hip-hop, jazz and classic reissues too.

There are piles upon piles,…read morean improbably large number crammed into this small bookstore, the cacophony recalling a wild, lushly overgrown garden -- or perhaps a cheerier version of the bookstore in "The Neverending Story." It's just (dis)organized enough to maximize your browsing enjoyment. You stumble across unexpected delights in the many nooks and crannies! But if you're looking for a specific something, the kind owners are immediately there to assist... and expound upon similar reads you might enjoy. They're like living, breathing Spotify playlist curators for books. Good ones. Tempest also carries puzzles and a massive selection of movies on DVD. What's on display in the store is only the tip of the iceberg. The rest of the iceberg lives in the owners' garage, we're told -- but they're happy to dig out whatever you request. Sadly, we're only in the area for a few weeks of the year. Most of our time is devoted to skiing and on the days when skiing isn't ideal, seeing friends. But next December, I vow to (1) set aside a full day for a proper browse and chat with the fascinating, brilliant, and well-read owners; and (2) do all our holiday shopping here. This store is a true treasure, clearly a labor of love.
