I was pleasantly surprised by the selection & the good vibes of the store. I was also pleasantly surprised to find a TPOB shirt for just $20. I saw it & knew immediately that it was coming home with me. I also picked up a Buch Spieler hoodie & I haven't taken it off since I bought it. I've worn it every single day since I visited. High quality, cozy, & downright cool. The employee was friendly & chatty - my favorite. I will definitely be back if I'm in the area (or even just driving by on i89) again. The guys at Buch Spieler are courteous, and so incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to all things music. My son loves spending time in here, and I cannot thank the staff enough for their patience and kindness with his questions, requests, and chatter! They don't just have vinyl! There are posters, cd's, coffee beans!, and awesome merchandise! For my birthday this year, my husband got me a new record player and speakers from Buch, and it is awesome! The sound quality of the speakers is loud, clear, and perfect. The system itself has great features and a nice cover to keep dust and wandering children's hands away from the vinyls! Despite the grunge, I agree with other reviews that the selection of new vinyl is decent, the used is limited, and the prices are moderate to high-ish, but not ridiculous. A plus is that the condition of all of the used records has been graded, and, to my eye, the grades are conservative rather than inflated, which I really respect. I walked out with a few used jazz titles that I have not seen elsewhere, so, despite the limited supply, there were treasures to be had! This was the first of three record shops I visited in Burlington and, if these three are representative, Burlington punches above its weight in the vinyl shopping department!

You're immersed in the sweet perfume of books as soon as you walk in. There are piles upon piles,…read morean improbably large number crammed into this small bookstore, the cacophony recalling a wild, lushly overgrown garden -- or perhaps a cheerier version of the bookstore in "The Neverending Story." It's just (dis)organized enough to maximize your browsing enjoyment. You stumble across unexpected delights in the many nooks and crannies! But if you're looking for a specific something, the kind owners are immediately there to assist... and expound upon similar reads you might enjoy. They're like living, breathing Spotify playlist curators for books. Good ones. Tempest also carries puzzles and a massive selection of movies on DVD. What's on display in the store is only the tip of the iceberg. The rest of the iceberg lives in the owners' garage, we're told -- but they're happy to dig out whatever you request. Sadly, we're only in the area for a few weeks of the year. Most of our time is devoted to skiing and on the days when skiing isn't ideal, seeing friends. But next December, I vow to (1) set aside a full day for a proper browse and chat with the fascinating, brilliant, and well-read owners; and (2) do all our holiday shopping here. This store is a true treasure, clearly a labor of love.
