There were countless mistakes, her bedside manor was poor and the entire practice was unprofessional. The prescription that's supposed to make you "forget everything" did not make me forget anything. I was uncomfortable and cried the whole way through. I didn't find out until after (a few days later) that heavier sedation was even an option. Post-op was rough. I was told I'd be back to work in two days so I booked the surgery on a Friday. Duh! I had to take an additional three days off of work. When I was in pain on multiple occasions, I called Dr. Ratliff. She came across as annoyed and rushed me off the phone. Even when I called in tears from the pain, she made me feel stupid and talked down to me. The final straw happened when I went to get my stitches removed for the second time. Dr. Ratliff wasn't in so a nurse did this and caused an unusual amount of pain... I got back into my car only to look in the mirror and still see 4 or 5 stitches. I went back up. The nurse took another look and said she didn't see anything. After telling her not to touch my mouth (why would I let a woman who can't see bright blue stitches put a sharp object in my mouth...) she grabbed the receptionist to take a look. I was out of there. I never heard from Dr. Ratliff again. I have to get the surgery re done only 5 months later.

The surgeons assistant, Elena was great. She made me feel relaxed and explained everything. We even bonded over Spanish artists (because I was listening to my ipod). My surgeon was Mr. Spinazze. He, too, was great. Very nice, explained the xrays thoroughly, and it was all quick and easy (as easy as easy can be with two people drilling and banging in your mouth). I highly recommend this place. Comfort and good staff are key to making a crummy situation like oral surgery better. Good job folks.

Walking to pick up lunch one day, I passed Sodini dental on Oakton, and knowing that I needed to get back to the dentist and looked up their reviews to see if this would be a good place to maybe try and become a new patient. I slid down a slippery slope through Covid and since, after moving away from my previous dentist and some extensive and ongoing health issues impacted my life. I called and was able to make an appointment for a couple months out - I was pleasantly surprised that they were taking new patients and that I didn't have to wait that long in the scheme of dr's offices for a new patient appointment. They do send text reminders as well which I appreciated. Doré at the front provided my new patient paperwork and checked me in. She was nice and efficient. Therese was my hygienist and I am so grateful and lucky that she got my appointment. I was transparent and disclosed it had been almost 7 years since my last dental appointment. I had been diagnosed with several conditions that are ongoing that have impacted my entire life tremendously, and paired with Covid and moving, time passed so quickly until we were here. Therese was patient and kind and made me feel incredibly heard. I know many people (myself included) who have anxiety build as time passes fearing judgment from dentists when we finally do make it in, and I need to stress so clearly here that Therese was so understanding, empathetic, and validating, especially with consideration to my ongoing health struggles. I was immediately so relieved and relaxed to continue with the visit AND ongoing dental care. We did a whole slew of x-rays since it had been so long since my last, and we also decided periodontal scalings were appropriate for cleaning my teeth and getting me back on track as well. Therese was communicative and gentle throughout the entire appointment and stressed my comfort over and over. We did split the scalings into two appointments, and I came back a week later for the second half of the cleaning. They made sure to book me with Therese at my request. I cannot articulate clearly enough how much the staff here made sure I was comfortable through my appointments. Unheard of in my previous dental office experiences. Dr. Sam saw me for my exam and she is incredibly kind, my experience with her was also very positive. I'm so grateful to have accidentally found an office with so much empathy and kindness in addition to professionalism, efficient administrative staff, and a very clean office. I know Sodini Dental has been a part of the community for a long time, and I selfishly hope they continue to be so. My insurance is out of network with the office, and I knew this going in to my appointment, and agreed to out of network costs. Out of network costs are generally not cheap, this was no exception, however billing and payment were both easy and transparent. We set up my next appointments for this year before I left from my second visit, and I was able to pay my balance without issue. Thank you Sodini Dental for a great and easy experience!

I later looked up filling cavities and came to the realization that they did not follow what they were supposed to do for filling cavities or for filling in teeth in the back I forgot what its called. Mouth piece for dental xrays looked like something to give someone some sort of disease. Xrays were not thourough and too many were taken of the same area. I have…read morea lot of dental anxiety due to a legit psychotic dentist when I was a kid/teen who lied to me on multiple occasions and claimed I had 23 cavities (no other dentist in the 20 years since then has been able to find those 23 cavities that I allegedly have, btw. I have only had 1 cavity in my entire life up until this year). That dentist also gave me a filling I didn't actually need, because she was like "oh turns out this isn't a cavity, it was just a stain. Oops!" after she started drilling. I also have brutal TMD that can sometimes lead to multi-day migraines after a routine visit, so I've been putting it off for an embarrassingly long time. I have been emailing different dentists for several years trying to find one who would let me do things on my terms (i.e., let me come in for a cleaning to ease myself back into it, but not get xrays during that visit, because that's what has caused my extreme migraines in the past). Everyone said no, except for Savin. I was impressed by the positive reviews on Yelp and Google, so, I bit the bullet and figured I'd finally come in for a very overdue cleaning and exam. Fortunately, I had a great experience here. I saw Dr. Evy, who is super nice. She did my cleaning and checked in frequently to make sure I was doing okay. I ended up having 2 cavities, which honestly I expected much worse given how long it's been. She filled them earlier this week, and it wasn't as traumatizing as I expected it to be :) She even managed to fill one on my upper wisdom tooth, which is super hard to reach, so that's impressive. I had to come back a few days later for one to be filed down a bit because I was too numb to be able to tell if it was too high, and she fit me in quickly and took care of it. And, so no migraines after any visit, which is a relief. The front desk staff are super nice as well -- very friendly, seem to genuinely be happy to be there (even at 7:30 in the morning), and extremely helpful. The hygienists/assistants who helped out with both my cleaning and filling visits were great as well. I'm super relieved to have found a dentist office that doesn't make me overly dread coming in. They're also setting me up with a TMD nightguard, so I'm hoping that'll help with that, too.

Each step was explained thoroughly, with plenty of time for questions. Dr DeGroot followed up with me after each procedure, and made sure I was healing with no complications.
