Why do I bring all this up in a Yelp review? Because dentistry isn't just a science; it's also an art. It's an ancient practice, and those who practice it exceptionally well are, in my opinion, nothing short of artists. Dental Matters is one of those rare practices. I had the great fortune of working with Dr. Laura Habeeb and her wonderful team. I came to Dental Matters after a highly disappointing experience at another dental office (across the street, actually!), where a filling had been done incorrectly and there were apparently problems with the planned placement of my crowns. Needless to say, I was feeling altogether discouraged & pretty hopeless. Switching to Dental Matters was an absolute game-changer. First, the administrative staff are incredibly kind, understanding, and knowledgeable. They really know their stuff! Sidra was especially amazing. Imran (dental assistant) was also wonderful, and Usman (dental assistant) in particular went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with my crowns. Usman spent over half an hour helping me design my crowns on a 3D screen. When I wasn't satisfied with the color of my permanent crowns, he helped me make adjustments through their in-house lab. How cool is that? Never once did he complain or make me feel difficult for asking questions. He simply listened, took my concerns seriously, and worked with me until I was happy with the result. But the true standout was Dr. Laura Habeeb. Dr. Habeeb doesn't just give dentistry 100 percent. She gives 200 percent! She is a true dental-artist, in every sense of the word. Not only is Dr. Habeeb extraordinarily intelligent and knowledgeable about all things dental (and I mean everything), but she's also a deeply empathetic person. She listens carefully, takes your concerns seriously, and consistently goes the extra mile. Even the tiniest adjustments mattered to her because she wanted my teeth to both feel good and look beautiful. And that's what makes dentistry such a fascinating art, in my opinion. Teeth are both functional & aesthetic. They can cause us pain, but they're also part of how we smile, speak, and present ourselves to the world. A truly phenomenal dentist understands both sides of that equation. If you're getting crowns or fillings done, or honestly any dental work done at all, I couldn't recommend Dr. Habeeb more highly. I have…read morea lot of dental anxiety due to a legit psychotic dentist when I was a kid/teen who lied to me on multiple occasions and claimed I had 23 cavities (no other dentist in the 20 years since then has been able to find those 23 cavities that I allegedly have, btw. I have only had 1 cavity in my entire life up until this year). That dentist also gave me a filling I didn't actually need, because she was like "oh turns out this isn't a cavity, it was just a stain. Oops!" after she started drilling. I also have brutal TMD that can sometimes lead to multi-day migraines after a routine visit, so I've been putting it off for an embarrassingly long time. I have been emailing different dentists for several years trying to find one who would let me do things on my terms (i.e., let me come in for a cleaning to ease myself back into it, but not get xrays during that visit, because that's what has caused my extreme migraines in the past). Everyone said no, except for Savin. I was impressed by the positive reviews on Yelp and Google, so, I bit the bullet and figured I'd finally come in for a very overdue cleaning and exam. Fortunately, I had a great experience here. I saw Dr. Evy, who is super nice. She did my cleaning and checked in frequently to make sure I was doing okay. I ended up having 2 cavities, which honestly I expected much worse given how long it's been. She filled them earlier this week, and it wasn't as traumatizing as I expected it to be :) She even managed to fill one on my upper wisdom tooth, which is super hard to reach, so that's impressive. I had to come back a few days later for one to be filed down a bit because I was too numb to be able to tell if it was too high, and she fit me in quickly and took care of it. And, so no migraines after any visit, which is a relief. The front desk staff are super nice as well -- very friendly, seem to genuinely be happy to be there (even at 7:30 in the morning), and extremely helpful. The hygienists/assistants who helped out with both my cleaning and filling visits were great as well. I'm super relieved to have found a dentist office that doesn't make me overly dread coming in. They're also setting me up with a TMD nightguard, so I'm hoping that'll help with that, too.
