I would say considering it's Oxford and not many gyms around, Pure Gym offers great value for money ratio. Yes, occasionally toilets will lack toilet paper and soap dispenser will be empty, but considering monthly payments on other gyms such as David Lloyd and Nuffield, I think it's quite competitive.
Definitely no frills: gym is crowded, classes are booked out quickly, and always a lot of people at the machines. However, to most classes you still can come even if they have been booked out, and always some machines are free. There is an option of upgrading to premium-ish membership ( something like +3 pounds), where you will be given an opportunity for early booking. Also, there is a limit on how many classes you can have booked.
At the same time, the gym has quite a busy schedule of classes (probably the busiest out of all the gyms I had a look at at that moment! Also from time to time they organise some paid courses with limited spaces but I have never signed up for those. read more
