I was going to take my kid to get a piercing at the end of June 2025 and upon waiting we discovered 8 dead cockroaches on the floor. One was squished right near the waiting area it was disgusting and what was worse was one of the employees placed a chair right next to it and didn't even clean it up. Went to Pure Gold Studio and had 2 flats (done at 2 different appointments) done by Cherie. She's very knowledgeable in her craft and is clearly loves what she does. I first went in and had 1flat pierced. I showed her my inspiration photo and we went from there. She worked with me to special order the jewelry and she can order anything from the major jewelry designers out there. Went back for my second flat and also had her check on my poorly healing tragus which was pierced 13 months prior and still not healing! I told her what I thought the problem was and instead of recommending full removal she recommended a jewelry change and it started resolving almost immediately. The tragus is now adorned with a hoop and is 3 weeks into finally healing and I haven't had a problem since (you can see the scarring around the jewelry). Overall I'm so happy with my piercings she did and her help in fixing my problem piercings. I highly recommend Cherie. The studio is small but very clean and conveniently located in downtown Chico by the campus. There's a small parking lot for customers shared by several businesses so you might need money for metered parking around campus if the lots full. read more

I got my helix piercing done last year by Cherie. My healing process did not go well (which is not Cherie's fault) so I decided to get it removed so it could heal. I went to her store during her designated store hours and it was closed. I messaged her on instagram and called her shop and left a message asking her if I could come in to get my earring removed and she never responded to my messages or call. Very unprofessional in my opinion. I resulted in having to go to a different shop to get it removed. I went to Red Room and they took it out for me no problem and the person who took it out for me told me that the piercing was not done straight and that it was slanted. read more

My appointment was at 11, I showed up 10 minutes early because I believe in valuing other people's time. I tried to go inside Pure Gold Studio but the door was locked. I realized I'm 10 minutes early, and I might have beat her to the shop, no biggie I'll just wait till she shows up. My appointment time comes and nothing. So I call her and she doesn't answer, so I wait a bit and try again. Nothing. She finally calls me back to let me know she's going to be 15 minutes late, which I understand things happen but at least have the common courtesy of letting me know. After waiting another 20 minutes I end up having to go because I have another appointment that I was going to be late for. I let her know that I would need to reschedule due to the fact that she was running behind. The next day she charged my card for 42 bucks. Ive tried to contact her to ask her why and got ZERO response. If she is charging me for a "cancellation" due to the fact that she was late, thats not how cancellations work. I have never wrote a bad review before but felt the way she did business that day was shady. Very disappointed and definitely wouldn't recommend her. read more

I had gone to their shop and got a navel piercing. I loved it; the healing process was not good, but it was not their fault. After a few days, I noticed my piercing was slightly crooked. I did pay enough money to receive a good piercing. I had called to see if they could do anything, and Cherie was rude the whole time and mad that I had gone to get it checked out by another professional. However, we agreed and rescheduled; later, within two months of her availability, as well as mine. I had gone another day to make sure she was still going to help me, I was in her shop for half an hour because she thought I was lying, to prove my lie she was trying to find the picture that the piercer had taken. In the end, she was not able to find it and it was a waste of time. The day of the appointment, we got into some conflict; she was very unprofessional, raising her voice at me, cussing at me, and having no respect for me. She kept making side comments about me that were rude and made me feel bad for trying to get my navel re-pierced when I was not satisfied with the first attempt. I did ask for a refund because I was not going to allow the disrespect, cussing, calling me a child and calling me crazy, for saying that my piercing was crooked, she told me that I was fucked up from the head, if I believed that. Cherie was trying to tell me that she had no evidence of any form of payment I had given when I got my navel. As an adult in college, I deserve the same respect I was trying to give her. I will admit I gave her the same energy she was giving me, and I asked her to respect me, and she clearly stated, " I do not want your respect; I am a loud ass b*tch." Also, I did not particularly appreciate that I was trying to support her business as someone who just moved to Chico, and she told me I should have gone to the person who had done my previous piercings instead of going to her shop.
