A slice of white and dark meat, real mashed potatoes, homestyle dressing, fresh veg (cauliflower, carrots, green beans, zucchini-cooked perfectly) plus cranberry sauce, gravy was perfect. Service was fast and friendly. I'll say it was a delightful Sunday dinner. They also have a nice variety of other comfort food including stew, fish and chips, burgers and the beef dip was good as well. I think it's time to write an update for the casino! Since they have rebranded and renovated, it's…read morea much better experience. The casino floor has a lot of room to move now and machines aren't too close together. There are a few bathrooms, and Player's cards machines so there are no line ups. The NOVA bar is comfortable to get a drink and sit and watch one of the TVs with the latest sports game. There's also the help yourself water station. In terms of games, there's the selection of slot machines. But they also brought back the horse racing game, which has been missing for years. It's right near the entrance but the computerized roulette has been moved by Chow and the poker room near the back. The Replay games are pretty new and there are lots of machines but not very busy. There's usually a spot to be found at the table games, unless it's right after payday and the casino gets busier. The high limit room is upstairs and I haven't been inside but I heard it's pretty nice with seating and offering of snacks. If you plan on coming here regularly, I would recommend signing up for a Player's card. You can get points for slot plays and when they have promotions, you can get 2 for 1 meals at Match or a free meal at Halley's! Chow inside the casino is decent eats too. The only food option I'm not a fan of is the buffet. Gateway promotes Starlight and their sister casino, Grand Villa, as YEGAS, and not quite Vegas but it's a lot better than it used it be and a place you can have lots of fun at!

Review: John @ Starlight Casino (Thursday Night)…read more Okay, can we talk about John for a second? Because I hit the Starlight this past Thursday and honestly, finding a bartender who can actually keep up with my energy is like finding a flight deal to Tokyo for $400--rare, beautiful, and slightly miraculous. John is absolute chaos in the best way possible. The man was moving faster than I do when I hear "final boarding call" at the airport. I watched him handle a drink order that sounded like a chemistry dissertation while simultaneously nodding along to some guy's very loud, very wrong life story. The level of "professional hostage-taker" patience he has is truly a gift. (Tru story); At one point, I'm pretty sure he made three drinks, grabbed a fresh bowl of limes, and cracked a joke that had the whole bar wheezing, all without breaking eye contact with the shaker. If that isn't worth a massive raise, I don't know what is. Seriously, pay the man more before I decide to pack him in my suitcase and take him on my next solo trip as a personal hydration specialist. John is the literal jackpot of this casino. 10/10, no notes, give him all the money. See you next Thursday!

The atmosphere is ok but not very appealing! The music is extremely loud, especially if you are closer to the windows. The food was not bad but again lacking the "wow factor"! The group that I was with liked more physical games like basketball and it's funny that all three basketball games were broken or malfunctioning and when we informed the staff, they seemed to know about it. I think there should have been a sign on the broken games especially because they were not free. :) In general, It wasn't a great experience and I may never go back there again!

We split a huge burger and a very generous portion of truffle fries with dip, had a bevvy each, and a handful of tokens for just $35 Totally worth it on all fronts! Firstly, I love that Beercade is upbeat but has that pub feel. With the bar at the center of the venue, a raised stage at the back, arcade & pinball games on the other walls, and tons of seating throughout, the set up has a nice flow. There's also tons of big TVs with sports on! The staff are all super friendly and quick to get your order, bring your food & drinks, and to check in. Our server had a lot of knowledge on the menu - it's always nice when you're not trying to figure things out WITH the servers bc they have no clue. We split the Double Double burger (sans veggies cuz hubs isn't into it) which comes with two patties, 2 pieces of bacon, and two pieces of cheese on a brioche (maybe?) bun and house sauce. I'm not sure what the house sauce was, but I really liked it. I saw one other person review that it tasted like Big Mac sauce, but my husband won't go near that stuff and he devoured his half of the Double Double burger. The patties were thin and flavourful - just how I like mine! - and homemade The bacon was thin too, but it was all good cuz it covered more of your bites. The cheese? Cheesy I apologize for not knowing the type of bun that was used, but it's the kind that can sometimes be kind of waxy on the outside of the top half - that shiny kind - which this one thankfully was not! I thoroughly enjoyed each bite! Our burger was $6.25 They had tacos and other sandwiches as well, all which I look forward to trying in the future! Sides were on for $3.50 tonight - normal fries, tater tots, kettle chips, yam fries, and truffle fries. I still hadn't tried truffle fries ANYWHERE yet, so opted for this option YUMMAY!!! My husband said they smelled like the bottom of a mouldy foot, but I dunno... I found them SUPER flavourful and am all about that stinky food life (I didn't find them to be of a bad smell tho...) I got them with the lemon aioli (which I also haven't had before) and I looooooved this dip The dip was only $1 and came with enough to dip the whole serving of fries in. The serving was enough that three people could split it! Hubs got a fraught beer for $4. Some kind of bitter beers were on for $3, though neither of us tried it - not really beer people. They have a lot of pinball machines, as well as modern arcade games and some from previous decades for a throw back. I loved the Mario Kart game The crowd seemed about the 18-25 range, kind of the quiet type. Lots of different kinds of music played which was nice that they could kind of cater to everyone. For such a cheap date night, we'll definitely be back! I'm not one to spend $12 on a single burger when I make my own pretty same good at home, so I loved that we got a meal for two for the same price as a fast food place here tonight but with much superior quality. I think this is our new Thursday night spot! I get my yummy stinky fries and hubs gets to play a ton of arcade and pinball games. The chill vibe means you don't even have to get all supa fancy for a fun night out and everyone there seemed to be in pretty good spirits BEERCADE IS A WINNER

On the outside, Halley's doesn't look like much as it stands like a blank wall just behind its unremarkable reception/reservation desk. But once you enter, be prepared to be very surprised as you enter an expansive 2 level Nightclub/Dining area! The evening we were there, a very good jazz trio were playing to the left of the bar. I wanted the trio's contact information for possible consideration to book for private events for the Car Club to which we belong, however the member at the end of their gig that I spoke to re getting a card never returned. Pity. We were graciously seated and greeted by a very hospitable host and then our friendly and capable waitress who brought us what looked to be (made in house?) bread sticks and crackers with a whipped garlic butter to start. Service throughout was friendly, attentive, and unhurried at just the right pace. The Charcuterie Board starter was wonderful, filled with a selection of meats, fruit, and cheeses. The candied nuts were a nice touch. My Beef Carpaccio was outstanding, thinly shaved raw beef slices topped with a complimenting Gorgonzola cream sauce, sprinkled with parmesan and micro greens and accompanied by just the right amount of toast rounds. Even Nancy, who will not normally eat raw meats thought her bite was tasty. Nancy's Steak au Poivre came out on the rarer side, medium as ordered. Better underdone than over! Still, Nancy seemed happy with her selection which was accompanied by properly cooked potatoes and vegetables. The only glitch in the meal were my Medium Rare Lamb Chops, 3 pairs of chops nicely presented, which came out decidedly on the low end of rare. Again, better underdone than over and a word with the waitress resulted in the meat quickly returning to the kitchen. The chops came back done to the low end of Medium Rare, accompanied by fresh potatoes and veggies on a new plate. I'd personally go a little heavier on the seasoning, but overall, this was very good and was accompanied by a very good mint sauce. The Chocolate Mousse and Crème Caramel to finish the meal were good, but unremarkable. But I'm not really a dessert person so it takes an exceptional dessert to impress. The house band, Million Dollar Dreamers, that played on the stage above the bar entertained us throughout our meal. Current and recent pop tunes were artfully presented with a decidedly jazzy twist. Very enjoyable! We stayed after finishing our meal just to enjoy the band until they went on break. It's been a while since I've enjoyed an evening out for dinner as much. I was very surprised by the quality of the venue and the food. I really never thought much of this place until we decided to try it. The positive overall experience leaves me to believe that I will return and will recommend Halley's Club to my friends as a "Hidden Gem"(at least for us) in Edmonton. Definitely worth a try for the food, and especially if you enjoy a bit of jazz with your meal. For a quick video that I cobbled together: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlZbAo1V_LM

Sure, I would much rather have had a Hudson Bay or Louis Vuitton bag in hand. But, how could I say "no" to the young woman? Her efforts (or mine) resulted in buy one get one coupon to the casino restaurants for me. The buffet didn't look appealing. So with my Dollarama bags in hand, we marched to the receptionist out front of Halley's Club. It was then that we learned that Halley's Club was a supper club and showcase theater with a live band. We were given a table on the second floor with a great view of the stage and singers. The food? We ordered a beef Wellington, a salmon, and a chicken Parmesan. I don't think we cared for any of the food we ordered. The beef was kind of tasteless. The Chicken sauce was acidic. My daughter didn't eat too much of it. The salmon was probably the best dish since the others were so bad. Service was good. I know my waitress saw my Dollarama bag. The snide comment about the Dollarama bag from the waitress never came. She did a great job keeping our cups filled, and cleared our dishes as needed. The music was okay. They had some lounge singers doing their thing, and they did it for about an hour before taking a break. I liked it even though I thought the food was bad. The Halley was a good experience for my family and I. I'm glad they let teenagers in there up till 10 PM. We liked watching the singers. If there is a next time, hopefully I am not wearing chanclas and holding onto a Dollarama bag. 4 stars for the experience.

Broccoli was perhaps a bit underdone, but flavour was good. When the crab came out it looked a little skimpy in terms of potatoes and the other shellfish. However with the appies we were filled up well. Crab was tasty and well boiled. Potatoes were okay and the few mussels and clanms on the bottom. I would come back here for that still. All in all a good meal.
