I don't go to the casino very often, but I'll go every few years just for that thrill of the possibility of winning big. Century Casino is still a fairly new casino that took over the Greenhouse Bar (not that I miss that place). Century is fairly nice with lots of machines and tables, but it's not a huge place like some of the other casinos in the city. This casino is also brighter than most other dimmer casinos. I was totally excited to start plugging some coins into the machines, but then I learned that none of the machines, in any casino, take coins anymore. Yes, coins do turn your fingers black, and they are a big of a hassle to lug around, but coins made the experience so much more fun and exciting. I love hearing the clinging sounds of the coins hitting the bottom tray when I win, even if it's just 75 cents. Getting rid of the coins is definitely a way to get people to spend more money. I sat down at a machine, and I put in a ten-dollar bill. After I spent about $6, I won $70! I was so happy, and I didn't want to risk losing this, so I pressed the "cash out" button right away and a ticket was printed out for me. I took this ticket to one of the designated machines, scanned the bar code, and my money was spitted out. If I ever want to go to the casino again, Century Casino wouldn't be my first pick, but it's definitely all right.

I went to the casino and did not gamble at all, so this review is purely based on the music venue. I went to see The Proclaimers last week and it was a small-ish room with it's own bar, stage and a dance floor. The room had many tables dotted around and ours was a table for four, so we we were with another couple who were lovely and we ended up chatting away until the concert started. The intimate space, table service and entertainment were all fantastic. We were able to get great photographs of the band as we were dancing right in front of the stage. Those who stayed in their seats were still able to get a great view so it's well laid out and the sound quality was excellent. I am only giving three stars because the bar was small and not well stocked. There was not a great choice of drinks and they ran out of wine before the support act finished. Not a good idea when all the Edmonton Scots are out in force to see a legendary Scottish band.

Review: John @ Starlight Casino (Thursday Night)…read more Okay, can we talk about John for a second? Because I hit the Starlight this past Thursday and honestly, finding a bartender who can actually keep up with my energy is like finding a flight deal to Tokyo for $400--rare, beautiful, and slightly miraculous. John is absolute chaos in the best way possible. The man was moving faster than I do when I hear "final boarding call" at the airport. I watched him handle a drink order that sounded like a chemistry dissertation while simultaneously nodding along to some guy's very loud, very wrong life story. The level of "professional hostage-taker" patience he has is truly a gift. (Tru story); At one point, I'm pretty sure he made three drinks, grabbed a fresh bowl of limes, and cracked a joke that had the whole bar wheezing, all without breaking eye contact with the shaker. If that isn't worth a massive raise, I don't know what is. Seriously, pay the man more before I decide to pack him in my suitcase and take him on my next solo trip as a personal hydration specialist. John is the literal jackpot of this casino. 10/10, no notes, give him all the money. See you next Thursday!

Buffalo took all my money until I put my last $5 into the video poker and made over $80. What a nice surprise! This place is mellow, cozy, has welcoming staff and easy to navigate around. Table games were a popular spot so we didn't get to try them but still had a great time! Clean place and the best part was not having to smell any cigarette smoke. Great Job starlight!

The decor was very interesting inside - truck stop meets hunting lodge meets car show meets old gas station. The atmosphere and vibe is very cool. The food was great. My son ordered the kids spaghetti and he wolfed it down fast. My daughter had the brisket sandwich which had good flavour. My wife had the Jack's burger and it was quite large and tasty. I had the Reuben and a clam chowder. Really great sandwich and the chowder had lots of clams in int. We really enjoyed looking around to see all the different decorations around the inside. Our server was friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back if we come through again.

The decor was changed for the upcoming Halloween which I found a nice touch. Our server was friendly and kept up with our beverages. Our meal was good though if I was to order the taco salad I would go beef and they definitely could use more nacho chips what you see in my picture is all I got maybe 8 if lucky nine chips. My companion really like the thick Texas bread with the Monte Cristo and he enjoyed the crispy fries. While we were dining and a live band started to play it ruined our experience because it was extremely loud so we were screaming at each other. On top of that the band was racing through the song, drowning out the lead singer which seems he wasn't comfortable singing.
