Staff are very friendly and there are servers going around in drink carts offering liquor, coffee and pop. There are 80% slots with the remaining 20% allotted to traditional tables. Free coffee, water and wifi are offered at this location. The restaurant on site offers food at the bar section and has its own dining area too. Food is good and well priced. I had 2 very bad experiences at Pure Casino in Calgary at Meridian Road. First was with a young security guard one evening with neck tattoos asking me if I have been drinking, when I entered in the front door. When I replied (that I didn't, (does it look like I am drinking to you), the reply was he didn't like my attitude and even after calling the supervisor secutity supposedly in charge of this guy they decided not to allow me entry even thought they figured out that I hadn't had a drink. I am a VIP player and never in my life, have I encountered an arrogant incompetent young thug in charge of security like him.I tried to talk to others in customer service in the front. in the casino this nigh,t and it seems they don't have any customer service. I have been going to this casino once a month for about 8 years.I am 57 years old and never experienced anything like it.The way they deal with people, arrogant incompetent behavior like this I never seen in my life. This is the first negative review I post in my entire life.On another occasion the security idiot in charge of the VIP room to enforce the mask mandates would harrass clients even though clients drink at the blackjack tables in a rude manner. Comments from other players were that they all know this guy is an asshole etc.Their customer service is non existent. Another issue I will adress is their blackjack game which they offer and the way the cards are stacked when they come out of the automatic shuffler. They have an 8 deck game which at 52 cards per deck x 8 is a total of 416 cards. Now in blackjack you got 4 aces per deck for a total of 32 aces in 8 decks.Now when you pull out 10 aces out of 30 cards with 2's 3' and 4's repeatedly I know that the automatic shuffle with facial recognition probably is programmed this way so the player doesn't get a random shuffle and by always clumping cards like this a player has no chance off winning. I noticed this a lot in this casino on Friday and Saturday nights . Some nights out of 20 or 30 players you have no winner. I will call the gaming commission and make a complaint . Casinos have an edge and should not resort to cheating their clients. The only reason I used this establishment was because it was 4 minutes away from my home. I am never setting my foot again in this shady crooked place. It's the worse casino I been where they cheat innocent clients of their money. I have been to every casino in Calgary ,British Columbia, Montreal, and 20 or 30 casinos in Vegas, and I know card variance odds ,and out of 100 casinos this is the only one that resorts to cheating.Their food also compared to any other casino in Canada really sucks. Out of hundreds of Casinos I have been at this one is the very bottom. Stay away from this crooked establishment, every other casino in Alberta and Canada offers a fair game where a players odds are at 48- 49%. This establishment CHEATS. Casino Calgary isn't the best casino I've been to in the city, but it's a pretty darn good one. It's big enough that you don't feel cramped by all the machines and tables, but it's small enough so that you can wander away and not feel like you're going to be lost for eternity. They have a nice little restaurant where you can sit and eat a meal between gambling spurts. The food is actually pretty decent and is fairly priced too. My favourite is the poutine they serve. It's so cheesy and runny with all the gravy... to die for. They also make a delicious war won ton soup, which they periodically have on special. The ladies working the restaurant have been there for a really long time, so they know the insides and outs of the food bis. The coffee cart ladies that walk around the casino serving drinking and snacks are always so cute. They've always got a smile on their face and seem happy when you decide to buy a drink or snack. It's not necessary that you tip them, but I think it's a nice gesture since they're walking around all day serving you. In case you can't find a coffee cart girl anywhere, they've got a bar you can visit too. There's also some seating around the bar so you can rest your feet, or fingers - they're probably tired from pushing all the buttons. Ah, the machines. They've got so many machines there it's hard to choose which one to play. They offer dollar, quarter, nickel and even penny machines. My favourite machine game is 99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall. It's a nickel game so the money (and entertainment) lasts longer. Aside from having a bunch of slots, they've also got plenty of table games to be played... including a no limit poker room. We have gone to this casino for several years Saturday and Sunday for breakfast. The staff is very friendly and always used to really try to make you feel welcome. The food was good as breakfast goes. We went today and now that Covid is here the front door people are horrible, the rules are stringent, if you like stringent you will be happy. You have NO option on hand sanitizers even though we sanitized just before we went in they were insistent that we would not be able to enter unless we used their sanitizer, there have been so many recalls we felt it should be optional. Anna is the worse customer service person I have ever seen and because of Anna we will never be back. She has no clue how to deal with people. So Anna you win! We will never be back even after Covid is over your attitude toward customers is 100% horrible. read more

Glutton for punishment, I went back to collect on our free Casino meal before it expired. Food is usually good at a casino right? Do yourself a favor, stay away. The meat in the dishes was greying (ex, singapore noodles) and I had to stop eating after a couple of bites. The food does look good, smells ok but if you have a sensitive tummy like me, it will be doing flips 24 hours later still. I do not want to think that the wonton soup made me sick, I did enjoy that. Service friendly but clumsy ( ex.wrong bill brought out). Restaurant needs a facelift from the 80's days but I am sure there are some people who would appreciate it. On a side note upswing, jackpots were paid out tonight without issue, finally. I really think casino wise, they have way more staff in the evenings than in the afternoons so things just run a little smoother on the floor. Just no more restaurant ever for us. read more

One thing you can always find at the Casinos in Calgary is some sort of Asian meal. My friends used to go there every Sunday for Wonton Soup as it was a cheap deal or so they told me. I was looking for a cheap deal so I decided to stop by on my way home. I have to say that "cheap" is no longer the case at the Casino's in Calgary. Prices are average and I guess cheaper than most places if you factor in the discount. With a free casino membership you get 10% off but menu items were around the$12-$15 range. Some items are very reasonably priced like a cup of soup for $3 or a regular Caesar salad for $6 and the large for $9 but for the most part depending on what you get I think you will find comparable or better deals elsewhere. The Casino Grill ambience is that of a basic diner with a mixture of booths and tables. There's not much to be said other than it's functional and looked clean. I don't think this would be a go-to place for dinner with friends unless you enjoy the blaring sound of slots machines and some other music in the background. The cafe serves to offer up a decent meal to people who are there for other activities. I had the Hunan Chicken. It is sliced chicken breast, red/green peppers stir fried in a cilantro peanut sauce, served over vermicelli noodles. There's lots of flavour in the sauce and a very generous portion of chicken breast. As to Hunan... I don't think they grow lemon grass in the Hunan Province in China so I suspect a pre-made sauce but used well in this dish. There was a distinct though slight lemon grass flavour to the sauce. The cost was $12 and you got your money's worth in the dish. I wouldn't say I would drive out of my way to have it but it was tasty. Service is friendly and efficient and I must say that food came VERY quickly. It was in front of me, piping hot in under 10 minutes of ordering. The portions of food are average judging by the orders of other patrons around me. The menu runs from New York Steak to Fun Wonton Soup and Pasta Primavera. It is one of the smaller Casinos in Calgary but if you're into gambling there is a fair amount of slot machines, as well as table games including Blackjack, Baccarat, Pai Gow Roulette and the ever-popular Poker. We spent 4 hours at the black jack table and as soon as we we done winning money we got forced out of the Casino through the excuse of my girlfriend that did nothing to provoke this. We were only there to give them money then they kicked us out after 10 min of leaving blackjack. I guess as long as you spend money you are good and when you stop to cash out your winnings and want too relax then you are getting kicked out... I am ashamed for them to be an establishment in this day and age. We Will never go back there EVER!! read more

The Staff are very Friendly and Understanding. The Food and the Promotions are great. It is especially worth it to become a member and earn points. Can I give it no stars? This place is a DUMP. 1) We asked about a players card upon arriving. The cashier sent us to the slot cashier, and she had a blank look on her face, saying they don't have one. Upon exiting, we did see a sign for it, and several hotel supervisors were clueless. A manager said that the people at the cashier windows were volunteers. I guess why pay employees when you can get free help and keep all the profits. 2) They had signs that players could put on machines to hold them for '10 minutes' or however long before they got removed. So, nope if you want to gamble you not only have to search out a machine that looks vacant, but also isn't tagged with "in progress" on it. 3) If you have ever been to Vegas/Reno/Tahoe/Atlantic City or a bingo night at your local church, you will be SORELY DISAPPOINTED. This is a TOTAL WASTE OF TIME. Save your time/money/energy/enthusiasm and go get a drink or dessert instead. You'll be glad you did. The worst (BY FAR) time spent in Canada on our trip! I hear that they decided to open a poker room again, last time they had a poker room, I heard they had tens of thousands of player bad beat money. The casino decided to not give notice of the poker room closing, management told a few close people, friends of friends, and gave all the monies away in one day, I think about 80,000$. RUDE, RUDE and unorganized! We took our group there as we visit the various casinos around Calgary once a month. After a month of calls and finally someone getting back to me, it turns out the staff member that called me back was not senior enough to do any or make any bookings. We didn't know this about her at the time so proceeded to book our date.The staff is unorganized (booked a our group in well over a month in advance) and they could not find our reservation even though I confirmed it the week before.The food manager was rude to the group and would not served lunch due to the mix up as he claimed he was too busy. This Casino is one of the best I have been in. BUT Don't eat the food...... My wife and I travel ed from Vancouver Island to Edmonton then to Calgary, we were having fun but then we ordered the special of the day, and was it ever, the kitchen sent my wife a 98% raw burger and mine was about 50% cooked, but I didn't notice it till I was half way through, the kitchen paid for our lunch because of the raw meat. But then an hour later I got sick 3 times. I told the kitchen manager and all he could say in a rude voice was you should have sent it back, then walked away from me. So I called the Casino general manager, but that didn't help either, he offered me a glass of water and said he would talk to the kitchen manager about the way he talked to me. I spent the rest of the day and night in my hotel room throwing up raw meat, Not a good way to spend your holiday's and seems this casino has no customer service. And as far as I am concerned the kitchen manager should be ashamed to send out food like that. read more
