The instructors are energetic, engaged with the class, and try to make things fun. They do a good job of correcting you without hovering and do a nice job balancing wellness with exercise. There are a lot of different teachers but they are almost all kind and fun. There's also a bunch of different kinds of classes to try. The equipment is very nice and the teachers use a big variety of the equipment in the classes. The facility is also clean and everything runs on time. I have forgotten my socks a few times and bought nice ones in the shop. Classes book out at least a week in advance so you do have to book early if you have limited ability for when you can attend class. The only downside, and it's entirely out of their control, is that because the studio is between a few food places, sometimes the smell of fried chicken coming from the Publix I think is so strong. Chicken smell aside, it's a very nice studio and great staff.

I started out going 3x a week and pretty soon I was going 6x a week. It felt great to build Bar Method into my routine. It felt like "me time". My flexibility improved as well as my strength, body definition and confidence. All of the instructors have their own amazing personalities and energies they bring to the classes. The cheaper ones were $15. For 1 pair of socks. Yikes. Had I known it was the same as the trampoline park socks, I would've worn those that I had at home . I got checked in pretty quick . I was told that they validate garage parking . I wish I had known this before searching for parking but again, this was a ClassPass issue that should've been in the fine print .. not so much on Body Rok. The class had about 10 girls in it. Very fast paced & I was a beginner. I kept up as much as I could but I felt like the instructor moved too fast for me.

While I was working out…read morethere, attempting to do some Ashthanga (a method of yoga that requires a lot of core and upper body strength, things I'm lacking!) an attractive obviously fit young lady approached me and asked me if I was working on Ashtanga. Her name is Miranda and after chit chatting with her for several minutes, I learned that she taught at a local yoga studio up the road. She informed me that the studio offered Mysore Ashtanga as well as other forms of yoga. I figured that was an invitation to go check it out. The building is located in a strip of shops and I went on a Sunday morning so there was ample parking. I walked in a few minutes prior to class and was greeted by Miranda who checked me in. As I was waiting for class to begin, she showed me where the bathrooms and "community mats" were located as well as areas to store your things. (There were no lockers, but the studio is locked while class is in session. Also, they don't charge a rental fee for the community mats.) There's a small coffee table with magazines and couches for you to wait and if you don't want to wait in the studio. The bathroom is clean and has one shower. The studio itself is spacious and is equipped with bolsters and blocks. There is a large mirror to the left side as you walk in so you can check out your form (or those yogis and yoginis with nice derrieres without being too obvious!) I attended an "Ashtanga fusion" class with Miranda which was a combination Vinyasa class with several traditional Ashtanga moves mixed in throughout the session. The class was a good work out, yet all levels of practitioners could adjust and modify poses as needed. It cost me $10 for drop in rate. If you want to do a traditional Ashtanga or Mysore class (which they offer almost every morning, but not Sundays), the drop in rate is $15. They take cash or credit cards. There are also items from Nepal for sale such as mala bracelets and necklaces. They have their schedule as well as a description of the classes and instructor bios online. You can schedule classes through the Mind and Body app or just show up and register there. Thank you Miranda for introducing yourself and for leading a much needed session! It's too bad I met your towards the end of my vacation. Definitely check out The Yoga Room if you're into Ashtanga and even if you're not, check it out anyway if you like yoga or if "you're not into yoga" as the song goes, then hit Clearwater Beach. It's not too far down the road.

I…read morepre-purchased the Black Card at the promotional rate and finally got to visit shortly after they opened, and the experience lived up to what I was hoping for. The gym is extremely clean, and during my visit, someone seemed to be cleaning and wiping down equipment almost constantly. The layout is also really good. There are plenty of machines, but they don't feel packed together, so you have enough personal space to work out comfortably. I especially like how user-friendly the equipment is. The machines clearly show which exercise they're for; many have rep counters and little timers to help track rest between sets, and each one has a QR code that takes you to instructions on how to perform the exercise correctly. The Planet Fitness app has also turned out to be much more useful than I expected. I initially started writing my workouts down in a notebook, then realized I could log everything directly in the app. What I really like is that the exercise names in the app match the labels on the machines in the gym. You don't have to stand there wondering whether the machine you just used technically counts as a bicep curl, tricep extension, or something else. You simply find the same machine name in the app and enter your sets, reps, and weight. The cardio equipment was another nice surprise. The ellipticals, treadmills, and similar machines have NFC connectivity, so you can pair an Apple Watch to track your workout automatically. One tip: open the Workouts app on the Apple Watch first, or the machine may not detect it. I also tried the Black Card Spa after my workout and really enjoyed it. The hydro massage chair felt fantastic, and the regular massage chair somehow managed to crack my back in exactly the right spot. I hadn't worked out seriously in a long time and expected to be miserable the next morning, but the soreness was surprisingly manageable, and I think the post-workout massage helped. The staff was friendly throughout the visit, the facility felt organized, and everything still had that brand-new feel without being chaotic. For my first workout in a long time, I honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience.
