Word to the wise, whatever you do at this Pure Barre studio GET IT IN WRITING. I have spent the past month (literally no joke) trying to get in touch with the San Clemente studio because they charged me an extra month even though I had moved 7 hours away and was assured my account would be terminated on July 29th. Immediately after seeing a faulty charge hit my credit card on July 29th, over the past 30 days alone I have called 14 times, physically drove into the studio and spoke to the front desk associate who was unable to assist because she wasn't a manager, and then emailed 7 times. The management team here is completely unresponsive. When I was able to get ahold of a front desk associate, they assured me multiple times that Ashlie, the manager at the time, would call me back same-day which never once happened. Such a disappointment after being a client for several months. I've lived in a few cities different cities over the past five years for work so had the chance to try out Pure Barre studios elsewhere - I can confidently say the San Clemente studio is the least responsive and most disorganized which is disappointing because the clients and instructors are fantastic. I am hoping by leaving this review that Ashlie or someone else in management will finally get in touch with me. I spoke to a couple friends who use the studio and they too (even as active clients) struggle to get their phone calls returned so it doesn't sound like this is a one-off occurrence ... at this point it's a matter of principle and customer service 101 -- return calls and when you say you're going to cancel a customer's account actually do it (in this case, an irresponsible person didn't follow through and now I'm out $200). read more

This is the best workout for toning and loosening inches. I am 61 years old and was 60 years old when I started pure Barre. At my age I never thought I would be a size 6 again. In addition I have lost 15 pounds. This is more than a gym it's a community. Everyone knows each other by name. The instructors are amazing making sure you have the proper form and prevent any injury. I have been a member in large gyms before and the classes are so large that the instructors can not assist you with corrections which can lead to injuries. I have been attending Pure Barre classes since 2012 and began classes at the San Clemente location soon after they opened. The studio is clean and nicely decorated. The front desk staff is always friendly and attentive. I love the variety of classes they provide including the latest addition, Pure Reform. Their instructors are top notch and engaging. I have never felt in better shape since starting PB (I am 46). I am truly addicted to PB and feel horribly sluggish if I miss just one week. The best thing about the SC location is the camaraderie amongst the women. Many friendships have evolved. Working out is always easier when there's someone to laugh (or complain) with. I plan on being a long time client of PB San Clemente. read more

I was turned away today because I was wearing yoga shorts. I want to add that there is a photo of a male wearing shorts in the yelp photos. If this rule is going to apply to females, then it needs to apply to the males too. As a ClassPass member, I was not notified of the typical studio policies when I signed up. I was frustrated, only because I have attended multiple Pure Barre classes across multiple states in the past few years and have never been notified of a "no shorts" policy. I was informed that it's due to the nature of the work out and some props and moves might be uncomfortable on bare legs. The front desk staff also said with their particular community, some of their students might also tell me "no shorts" if I did the class. If that was the case, is it truly for my comfort or their comfort? I think a female student should be informed that the "recommendation" is "no shorts", but ultimately they should have full autonomy over their workout attire. If a student took a barre class for the very first time and decided they didn't like wearing shorts because it was uncomfortable, then at least they have an informed decision to not wear them the following time. To be told what not to wear as a female in 2023 was discouraging, and it wasn't done so in a polite manner either by the staff member. There was no sense of apology or empathy for a customer who endured quite the commute to get there. Pure Barre is challenging for sure, but you are stronger than you think and will see a transformation if you stick with it. I started with bbarreless at 24 hour fitness and was hooked on barre immediately. It is a total body workout which works your core, arms, seat, inner and outer thighs and abs. There are usually 5-6 classes daily at this location. All the instructors are super positive and encouraging from the moment you enter the studio to the time you leave. You can challenge yourself with regular barre, empower (incorporates more cardio), and reform (which incorporates bungees from pilates and discs). A side benefit is that all the women who take classes at this studio are really nice and welcoming and you will feel part of the community right away. Try a week free and then try on groupon for a month. It is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for! Such a better and more personalized workout than at the gym. Guys, don't take Pure Barre at the San Clemente studio, at least not on Monday or Tuesday mornings, because that's my time to burn, sweat and shake with a room full of beautiful women and I don't want any competition! The workout is probably too hard for most guys anyways. I think that's why husbands and boyfriends stay away, as it can be damaging to a man's ego when you have to break and can't finish the isometric burn. I like being the only guy there, but if you think you want a seriously challenging workout that will kick your butt, you will be welcomed with many smiles. read more

Pure obsession! I love it so much I've amassed quite the spandex collection. Personal fitness was never in the forefront of my thoughts or lifestyle until I tried PBSC. For me, the workout has been effective, fun and challenging. The studio energy is contagious. Once you've made that mind-body connection, you'll compete with yourself to tuck harder and lift higher. Shaking is good here -- the motivational teachers will certainly make sure of that! Studio owners, Anne and Erica have created a warm environment and truly make every client milestone extra special. Pure Barre provides a low impact, challenging, total body workout that will strengthen and firm you (top to bottom) in less than an hour! Participation requires nothing more than a pair of your own "socks with traction sticky dots" for every class and a willingness to want to reshape your physique and pushing yourself a little more with every class you complete. The first time you attend a class can feel intimidating and slightly awkward as the proper "tuck" and "alignment" doesn't always feel like a natural position to assume, but stick with it and try it a second time; You'll get the hang of things quickly. Its mostly all (somewhat) fit females (within a 50 pound +/- range) under the age of 65 that attend this SC location and the Stay-at-Home Mommies seem to all have a ball together during the 2nd morning weekday class! With every class you attend, you'll see improvement in your own endurance and your ability to hold a tough position for just a few seconds longer than last time...The all female instructors are upbeat, knowledgeable and great encouragers. They will go out of their way to remember your name to to help you with proper positioning, if and when needed. Call the studio and see if you can begin with a discounted monthly rate as they always seem to offer an inciting special for brand new clients. Although some may feel that the barre method classes are a little pricey, I'm a firm believer in getting what you pay for, therefore I push myself to improve during every class I take and I just make sure I utilize my unlimited monthly classes by attending as many classes as I can! read more

Bad business practices. Not veteran friendly. Bought a gift very for my wife. She attends UC Irvine full time and couldn't find the time to use it. Tried to return it, they adamantly refused. I LOVE PBSC! It's always a challenging workout but the instructors make the classes fun and motivating. For someone that does not like working out in a gym and enjoys more of a group environment, this should be your go to! They foster a sense of community with all of their clients and celebrate every milestone. There are always exciting events and competitions to look forward to! I am so happy that a Pure Barre opened up in San Clemente! The studio owners, Erica and Anne, are so friendly and all of the teachers are amazing! Classes are offered in the mornings and evenings, which is perfect for my busy schedule. During each class, your whole body gets a workout. I initially thought I would take one class a week as a supplement to my normal workout routine, but I have become addicted and go three to four times a week! The lifting, toning, and burning is transforming me into a healthier me! Love Pure Barre SC! I started barre classes about 4 years ago but never got that "hooked" feeling until joining Pure Barre in San Clemente. After visiting all of the Pure Barre facilities in San Clemente and surrounding areas this is the studio that fit all of my requirements. Schedule of classes, teachers, cleanliness and cost. The staff, (which I later realized was Ann, one of the owners), was helpful in explaining the cost of each class, and several special offers for a longer term commitment. My choice was to attend and pay for one class and if I decided to attend additional classes the $15.00 would be applied to the package I had decided upon. All very fair and reasonable. The entire team at the studio is great, very helpful, and willing to assist you in the training session.
