Welp, I'm here to tell you that Main Street Pilates is as knowledgeable and as experienced as any reputable pilates gym in a metropolitan are. I typically get private classes from either Kirsten or Joy. Both of these instructors are very knowledgeable and both practice the traditional teachings of Joseph Pilates. The equipment MSP uses is also traditional equipment which I prefer over the newer bed versions, which I find to be too bulky and harder to move in thus making it harder to focus on specific body parts. The studio is immaculate, very clean. And they require that you use a mask inside which I prefer. They are located right above Habitat floral shop on Higgins.

After doing some research we landed at Peak which was conveniently located in town. Our first impression was getting registered for a day pass with Dylan and another female employee whose name I didn't catch. They were beyond polite to us out-of-towners, got us our day passes, and then helped us get the lay of the land of this huge facility. It has a unique shape and layout if you haven't visited before, but once we got our bearings I was pleasantly surprised with all it had to offer. The machines were in excellent condition, there was plenty of space for all the members to get after it, and the overall facilities were extremely well maintained. I loved the placement of machines and especially all the individual cardio machines near the turf. I used Jacob's ladder for the first time, lots of other benches and machines, and cooled down on the turf. My boyfriend had quick access to a powerlifting platform and all-you-can-lift weights. The sauna was my next stop, because no ball busting workout is complete without doubling the sweat, and then for the female locker room I used an individual shower with a seat and curtain, while my boyfriend did mention the men's locker room has an open area shower. The bathroom was clean and modern, lots of locker room storage, don't forget your own lock. The facility provided towels upon request, and was equipped with several sanitizing wipe stations for cleaning machines if you care about things like that. Thank you Peak for offering a top notch facility.

I guess the best way to describe it is that it is similar to pilates in that you use a machine that's made of wood and has lots of pulleys. But the movements are more similar to dancing. And if I'm not mistaken this form of exercise was created for dancers, by dancers. I typically will go back-and-forth and will do pilates for a few months, then switch to gyrotonic. I feel like by changing my workout regularly I'm constantly changing which muscles I workout. The studio is easily accessible, lots of parking ava and located on Higgins above the Habitat Floral Studio.
