I first walked into the studio with several sports injuries and an extremely limited idea of what Pilates even was. The owner, Barb, is truly wonderful, and took the time to ask me about what my fitness goals were, what my current issues were, and where I would like Pilates to take me. Talk about caring- you're not going to get that anywhere else! My formerly problematic hamstrings and badly healed rotator cuff injury no longer pain me, thanks to careful and expert instruction at the hands of the Pilates Connection staff. Every instructor is highly trained, really down to earth, and very talented. They want to help you become your best YOU, and not in a cheesy way either: Pilates helps you inside and out. I've become so much more aware of how my body moves, and my flexibility is lightyears better- not to mention the amazing toning and strengthening benefits! Also, there is no judgment at the studio. You don't have to be a fitness buff or a supermodel to fit in like other gyms or studios. I honestly could go on forever about how much I love Pilates Connection. Try it out yourself and see!

I took the beginners class and doing this works outs a different set of muscles than what you'd workout on a regular gym day. This is a class you would take in addition going to the gym but not on the same day. The coach takes their time to explain everything in the beginners class and they coach you through getting into and maintaining proper form. There were a few times I had to stop to take it easy... of course over time, you'll get use to it but it does take some patience, good form, and stamina to do this really well. They recommended taking 3 beginners class to get use to the movements. It's all about balance, maintaining position and using/building your strength... I recommend coming to check out a class for yourself.

I can see muscle definition like never before in my legs, it's crazy. The yoga classes are great. I really enjoy the Yin class, it's my hour of mental health each week. My friend got me started on Yoga Basics. It's not necessarily an easy class but rather focuses on the right posture. As someone whose journey to Yoga started at bigger gyms this is really important to me. They take the time to explain the proper positions and if you are off they will tell you how to correct it. (After an IT injury, I've learned the importance of posture!). There are a several classes I haven't tried like Booty Bunz and gym sticks that people love. There is also tighten and tone that I like but totally kicks my butt. Zumba is fun and I recommend trying out different instructors because they all have their own take on things.

I researched where to begin my Pilates journey for quite awhile and am so glad I found Karen. I signed up for weekly private sessions (newbie!) on the reformer and looked forward to it each week. Even if I was tired before the class, Karen's instructing and positivity could turn that around. She is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and welcoming. She helped me gradually improve and learn more complicated sequences without it seeming too complex. I told her that my body, especially my back, always felt like a million bucks after our sessions and have referred many friends to see her. I recently moved away from the area and she was instrumental in helping me find a new Pilates home. She also helped me learn how to do stretches at home and recommended equipment. She even let me try out her roller at home for an extended time because I didn't want to buy a large roller right before moving out of state-who does that? My husband, who thought Pilates was only for girls, even started Pilates because I raved about her classes so much. She tailored our duet class so that we each had a great session! Karen is not only a wonderful teacher but also a genuinely caring person. I will definitely book a class when I am back in the area and wish I could still make it for my weekly sessions!

Sometimes, I need a good kick in the booty to keep myself motivated. I've decided that my body is built for rowing. Most of the the rowing power comes for the gluts and legs, but It truly is a total body workout. An hour of non-stop rowing and weights will most certainly get me in bikini shape by summer! lol Row House offers a variety of package deals to fit your lifestyle needs.
