**THE NEW ADDRESS TO THIS STUDIO IS 15360 FAIRFIELD RANCH ROAD STE C CHINO HILLS, 91709**…read more I've always been an avid fan of anything and everything fitness related. I've traveled down many routes all leading to fitness, and whichever allows me to guiltlessly enjoy my cheat meals. Chino Hills Pilates, formerly My Pilates Studio, recently opened it's snazzy doors to the public. Housed in a new location, the facility is gorgeous: two levels, spacious for floor exercises and a section for reformer work. There's even a comfortable sitting area for those waiting for the next session. I have been a member for over a year, and I cannot stress enough how rigorous these workouts can get. I crossfit which involves a lot of explosive type movements and exercises. Well the focus of Pilates is the opposite, full body control and core are its underlying principles. You find yourself shaking to maintain a complex holding movement. Your fatigued muscles will burn at every rep. You'll probably quietly curse at the instructor for making you work so damn hard, but in the end, and I promise you this, your core and your extremities will feel ridiculously tight and toned. No bulk, just year-round bikini body. As if the intense workout isn't reason enough, yoga is also offered here as part of the membership. I do know that they offer free intro sessions as well. So why take advantage of something new to wake up that body? Don't be fooled by the seemingly slow pace and don't be intimidated either. The atmosphere is positive and friendly all the time. All the workouts can also be modified so there is no one who can't enjoy pilates. Oh yeah back to that location thing.., They are also located right across the alley from Crossfit Chino Hills where muscular men walk around shirtless and sweaty all the time. Just a bonus, I know. Just do it. You'll fall in love with it and look forward to the burnnnn!

Kacy is big on progression and basically operates under the assumption that you can always go up in weight, which has pushed my strength up (especially hip thrusts and RDLs). It's small group training, which keeps the energy up because everyone's working at the same time. He'll keep you accountable and make sure you finish your sets and there's a decent chance you'll leave with a random nickname you didn't ask for but it does keep things entertaining. In my first month I've already seen measurable changes in strength and body composition, so it's been interesting to see the progress show up pretty quickly. Curious to see what the next couple months look like.

I found Kacy through a friend and started training with him about 6 months postpartum. I always seemed to over-strain something and end up injured, so I was pretty hesitant about jumping back into weight training after having a baby. That's when I decided to look for a personal trainer. From day one, I was impressed by Kacy's knowledge and expertise. He has this uncanny ability to gauge exactly how much I can lift just by watching me do a single set--which I'm guessing comes from years of experience, but it's still impressive to see in action. Here's the thing about Kacy that might throw you off at first: he often looks distracted, like he's not paying attention. But don't let that fool you! He's tracking everything--your form, your reps, your timing--and he'll call you out if you're slacking on your sets. It's actually kind of amazing how dialed in he is even when it doesn't look like it. If you're looking for a knowledgeable trainer who will push you and keep you accountable (even when you think he's not watching), Kacy's your guy. Highly recommend!
