Everybody that works here is great, courteous and extremely helpful. Being part of the WLS, you can go on-line, browse what you want (books, CD's, DVD's), place a hold on it and it will come to your local branch for pickup. The beauty of it is that you have access to the whole of Westchester's library system from New Rochelle to Cortlandt Manor at your fingertips. Plus they have parking!

Also upstairs is an audio area to listen to vinyl (and extensive collection of vinyls). Lots of outlets in each workspace area. Very clean, plenty of windows for natural light. The bottom floor has a cafe with a lot of food options. You can only eat in the cafe area, but the options are so diverse (sandwiches, pizza, nuggets, small frittatas) and coffee is very cheap as well. Even the cafe area has a section of outlets. Multiple self check-out desks, both on bottom floor near the cafe and on the main floor. Also several help desk stations (bottom floor, two on main floor, and on top floor). My happy place. Makes studying more bearable.

The children's room is in the basement. But the whole building is open plan, and no doors anywhere. So I was treated to an hour of children's songs with accordion accompaniment. While sitting in the quiet area. Music so loud that I was fantasizing about noise canceling headphones.

My sophomore year I was in a room with bad heat and no insulation in a place where the snow got so bad they had to shut the college down for a few days! When my roommates boyfriend sent me emails telling me to kill myself, I reported it to my RA who told me to try and suck it up as she was leaving for Study abroad next semester. When I was rush to the hospital with what turned out to be kidney stones, campus safety first told me it was just food poisoning because they had had 3 cases that week. Never mind that the head of the French department spoke French as a THIRD Language and the heads of the theater department had the lowest ratings on Rate my Professor. I am sad that this place is clearly a commuter college, disguised to look like a traditional school.

At 2:28 I was told I'd need to leave by 2:30 "for the high schoolers" (school gets out after 2:35). No problem, just had to wrap up a quick call for five minutes, and was re-approached by 2:32 because apparently the need to leave was THAT urgent (no signs or anything indicating that this is a legit rule). There were still 0 other people in the entire space. I'm seeing many other reviews about being treated poorly by librarians and I'm unsurprised. Avoid it here at all costs and go to Harrison. Librarians here are on a weird power trip.

This library is pretty large with multiple floors and was well-lit and quiet when I visited on a Saturday morning. I loved the big new book section right at the front of the main level, especially the full shelf of new cookbooks (one of my favorite genres)! They had some other really great displays, including one celebrating Jane Austen's 250th birthday and some BookTok books. I saw a seed library, teen area, even an attached cafe. I'm really glad I got to visit this library!

Books and other media materials are available for check out as well as computers for a quick internet search. Being part of the Westchester Library System, materials from all across the county in each town can be reserved and sent to your local branch for pick up. I needed a book right away, so I searched it on-line. I couldn't wait for it to be delivered to my local library, so I took a quick ride at lunchtime. There is limited parking for roughly 25 cars, but was pretty full when I arrived. Run in, pick up, run back out, super convenient.

I believe this library was recently renovated and it shows! It feels clean and modern, with lots of…read morenatural light. It is quite spacious, with a dedicated tech room, quiet room, and a children's section with a special space for kids' programming. There are lots of floor to ceiling windows, which look out on pleasant views. Great seating options, with and without desks. They also have a cafe with hot and cold beverages and bakery items. They have signs throughout indicating what noise level should be maintained in various sections so you can find the right space for your needs. I came on a Wednesday around 11:30am and the parking lot was packed. I can see why! It's a great place to spend the day. They have an impressive calendar of events for the community and lots of educational resources.
