This is my first time for Salvadoran and papusas. This is a fairly plain and simply decorated location that serves the Latino community as we were the only non Latin people here today. I ordered the steak and chicken papusa along with the shrimp plate. The papusas were very good. Great flavor and lots of meat. So I've been in Bentonville for a couple of months, living out of a hotel (i.e., eating out all the time), and I will hands down say this one of my top three restaurants in town. It's not fancy by any stretch, and yes - service can be very slow (not sure what that's all about...), but the food is outstanding, and there many excellent options to choose from. My favorite item is the shrimp pupusa - a couple of these would make a filling meal for $4 (!), with plenty of shrimp. It's incredibly savory, and unlike the other pupuserias around town, the one served here isn't greasy at all. Other great items are the shrimp a la diabla, chicken ranchera, carne de rez, and all of the fried snapper plates. Thick, Salvadorean-style handmade tortillas come with most meals, and it's hard not to leave here stuffed. Reading the other reviews, it's apparent this would have a 5* overall rating if they could sort out their service issues (for what it's worth, I've , at least found them to be quite friendly), so here's hoping they're able to do that... read more

This was my first trip to this restaurant and my first time at a Salvadorian restaurant. The food was decent enough but not great. For all of the "gringos" out there (like me) Salvadorian food is different than it's Mexican counterpart. Fortunately I was with the love of my life and she gently led me through the menu. I had the chicken tamales which were good enough but not great (I prefer Mexican tamales). BUT.....what got this rating what it did is that the service was TERRIBLE! I could go on and on about the terrible service but I will give this review much less time than they gave me. Good food good service. Highly suggest not coming when already starving wait times for food to come are a bit long but worth the wait as food comes out hot and fresh. Great place with good food. Did go in and get take out a few weeks ago, and they warned it would be 20 minutes because they were busy. Well an hour later we got the few pouposas we ordered and left. In the hour we sat waiting, we asked a few times for our food and was told it was coming. I did however see several others come in after us, order and leave before we did- even sit down customers! I've been to this place about a half-dozen times and they are pretty consistent about their food, ambience, and service. It's a divey, casual type of place. The inside has plenty of booth and table seating. The interior is a bit run-down, and it's pretty much a hole-in-the-wall. So what do I love about this place? Their shrimp pupusas! Damn, they are good! I've also had their steak/asada pupusas, which are my 2nd favorite. I've not really tried much else. The pupusas come out with cabbage slaw and a couple of bottles of hot sauce; medium and hot. The prices are really cheap; two of us ate for $10. What are some areas of improvement? Well, the timing. This is not a place I'd recommend you go to if you're on a limited time crunch or you've got a 1-hour lunch. I work down the street and went during my one-hour lunch break and barely had enough time to eat. The servers are very nice and courteous, but it's pretty slow getting things back from the kitchen. So, just be aware of it. I've came here with a large group of people, about 15 or so, and they were able to accommodate us with no issues. This is my go-to place for pupusas, they are hot, fresh, and delicious. If you're wanting to try something a little different, definitely a place to consider. read more

The only reason I gave this restaurant one star is because you have to give them at least one star to post something. Place was completely empty except for three tables with children yelling and running and screaming and no adult supervision. Everybody had their cell phones out to include the staff playing different music at 120 decibels over the house music. So to be fair, I only went in for pick up. But let me describe the place. It's pretty big for a hole in the wall type of place. They do have tvs and plenary I parking. They are located next to the Aldi store. There are many tables and the servers are nice. They do take to go orders. They also use tablets to take your orders and they do take debit and credit cards. Lunch for Two Usual hole in the wall kind of place. From the outside, it looks like real estate office. If you don't know what pupusas are, you'd never walk in. Its a little run down inside but okay. First let me talk about the food. It is made as fresh and is pretty good. My favorite was the fried yucca and tostadas. It is also very decently priced. Here's the Bad side: We walked in and sat down. Got our menus a few minutes later. Drinks came first and then we ordered. It took 45 minutes to get our food.....FORTY FIVE MINUTES for 2 of us!! FORTY FIVE minutes for $15 worth of food. We watched people who came in after us get food first. We asked our server if our food was coming and she said she would check and then explained that the people who got their food first had called in earlier for it. I understand that helps get their food faster, but it does not explain why we had to wait 45 minutes for 2 plates of food while the place was not even a full house. I am very disappointed in the service. After reading other people's reviews, I can see it is a common thing. I really wanted to love this place. It's in a small strip mall with lots of parking. Other reviews mentioned long wait times, but we were served rather quickly. They had a good sized menu, but I had to try a pupusas. I had asada and queso and then a pork tamale. The pupusa was good, but not great. I wanted a little more flavor to it. The tamale was a huge let down. It had one piece of pork in the middle and tons of masa. I did love the prices were low. I'll probably give it another try. read more

I always visit this location when I travel to Arkansas. The only reason I'm giving them a two is because the wait time is horrendous - the worst I've ever experienced anywhere. Absolutely abysmal service. We were not immediately seated when we walked in. We stood there awkwardly for a few minutes even though there were several servers around who were not immediately engaged. Once seated they were quick to come take our drink orders and bring us our drinks. We immediately placed our order, which was basically a bunch of appetizers: fried yucca, fried plantains, pupusas. At this point they started to completely ignore us. Our table was immediately in front of the cook/server entrance where they went in and out of the kitchen yet they never asked us if we wanted to refill our drinks or spoke to us in over 30+ minutes. Several orders were brought out for other people who had arrived after us and for to-go orders. At this point we called over a waiter and explained that I had to go into work soon and I was running out of time. She said that they had taken a lot of to-go orders over the phone and that our food was not yet being cooked. She said it would be at least 10 minutes more. She didn't apologize and didn't seem concerned. We decided to just leave because I was running out of time. It was a terrible experience and I am not planning on coming back. Today I enjoy pupusas Frioles & queso, with wonderful mild cabbage, and the delicious mild sauce that comes with. I added chopped onions & cilantro side.
