    Pupusas. Delish!
    Rick H.

We very much enjoyed this restaurant for lunch. The dacor is simple and cute, the restaurant is clean and cozy. Service was fast, thorough and friendly. We had shrimp, spinach and pork pupusas. They were hot, cheesy and delicious. We also had chorizo, asada and carnitas Street tacos, and they were bomb. I could eat here every week. Definitely a local gem. Give it a try.

It was good. Service was nice just took a while but that understandable because they take a bit to make. They fruit waters are good. Recommend the Pina Agua. Would come back here.

She was nice, sweet, polite, she helped answer questions about the menu. She even asked us how we liked it, and our experience. And how she asked was like.. she really genuinely wanted to personally know how we enjoyed our experience. She likes her job and it shows. We received our pre-appetizer, appetizer lol. It's their (Salvadoran) version of a Tex-Mex chips and salsa. It was these little rectangle, fried pita chips, almost, and a small bowl of bean dip. It was good! I would have ate anything in front of me. For our appetizer, we ordered the chicken tamale. I've never had a Salvadoran tamale before and Omg! I LOVED IT!!! Oh my word! We ordered two, when we really could have just ordered one. They are huge. I have photos of everything we ordered and ate. It's still made with masa, but instead of thick and some what stiff, like a Mexican tamale, it's almost like the mass is soaked in something. And it's fluffy and basically falls apart when you open it up. And it's not held together with corn husks, they use banana leaves instead. OMG!!!! It took a min to get used to. The ONLY thing that I think they could improve on this, is cut the piece of chicken up so it's more distributed more through out. It was one piece of chicken, and on one side, so I ate 3/4 of it forgetting it even had chicken till I found the giant piece at the end. Other than that. OMG it was so good!!! And that's just the appetizer. Oh. And the chicken, when I did get to it... WELL WORTH THE WAIT... it was SO tender and juicy, I forgot I had already ate almost all of it before getting to it. Lol. I ordered 3 of the pupusas. MY FAV! I've had several of them all over town, so I already had my standards high. So I wanted to test theirs out and leave a review on them. And I was quite impressed. It was up there with my fav place in Rogers. So that made me happy. I ordered 1 each of the: Loroco y queso, Ayote y queso, and Pescado. I think Pescado was my fav, the other two, I really couldn't tell them apart. But they were big and good!!! And I have to say, the curtido wasn't super spicy like a lot of places. So this typical white girl could still handle it. It had a kick, but it wasn't so spicy I couldn't feel my face. My friend ordered the Churrasco Tipico, cooked medium rare. The flavor was great. But maybe it's just me and my lack of knowledge on curtain types of steak. But it was tender yet chewy. Lol. I know that doesn't make sense. But he said it was awesome. So maybe it's just that kind of cut. ‍It was still good. It just took me a minute to chew it. Bathrooms were clean, floors and tables were clean. It was just a perfect experience I have to say. So... over all... AMAZING!!! Loved it!! I WILL be back!

I went with the recommended sandwich (unfortunately don't remember the name but it was chicken based with fresh veggies) and some pupusas. The sandwich was pretty good overall. I thought the chicken could have been cooked a little better but I enjoyed the ingredients and the veggies were very fresh. The pupusas however were DELICIOUS. Metaphorically speaking, fall-off-the-bone good. I highly recommend the mixed option that is a mixture of beans, pork, and cheese (if my memory serves correctly) and I have since tried the jalapeño and cheese options and enjoyed them as well. I dance with these pupusas in my dreams and it's difficult for me to not get them every day. Everyone is friendly here and the food was prepared pretty quickly! Este restaurante es muy bueno! Recommiendo las papusas porque estan DELICIOSOS. No creo que otros son mas mejores. Este lugar es muy comodo y las personas son muy simpaticas. Estoy emocionado para regresar! Most of the Central American food that I have had is very lightly seasoned. The foods rely almost solely on the flavors of the vegetables, fruits and meats in the dish with very limited strong spices such as the chili peppers and other spices that stand out in Mexican food. As for La Chele 2. The food is made with fresh ingredients, prepared when you order it. The Arroz con Pollo was as expected, unseasoned or very lightly seasoned. It was simply the flavors of the chicken, mushrooms, onions and cheese. The menu says the chicken was cooked in a special salsa. It may have been, if so, it was very mild. After a couple of bites, my wife who seldom eats hot sauce, was reaching for the bottle to flavor up her plate. The portions were large, the food hot and fresh! A few minutes after my wife was served, my Pollo Guisado (Salvadorean style chicken pot roast) arrived at the table. I immediately asked for the house made salsa picante. This dish (recommended by the owner) had chicken thighs and all the vegetables you would expect in a pot roast and a few more: carrots, onion, bell pepper, tomatoes, and potatoes. The house salsa picante really helped. The black beans were excellent! The sauce with the Pollo Guisado was very rich. Made that way from the fat rendered from the stewed chicken during cooking or possibly added oil or butter. The broth had a distinct yellow color with the noticeable taste of chicken flavoring added. A delicious, rich meal. Both meals were served with thick house made corn tortillas. I could have made a meal of the tortillas, black beans and the house salsa picante. La Chele 2 is located in a modest, repurposed suite in a declining strip mall just north of Hwy 412 on Mt Olive St. Order and pay at the counter. A mom-and-pop operation with limited service. They do a lot of take-out business. They have a fair-sized menu. If you are not a Salvadorian food expert, check the menu here before you go. It will save you some time! The Salvadorian cuisine will unlikely be my favorite As for La Chele 2, the freshness of the food and the large portions made it worth trying. I liked it.
