My smaller dogs don't like being groomed except here...not even at my own home. Knowledgeable and willing to work around our schedules as well. He also has some high end grooming gear, things I'm jealous of having 3 dogs in constant need. The style is breed specific as well, other groomers generally have there "main cut" that they apply to all breeds, not here! . Where to begin? If I could rate negative stars I would. I've…read morealways been on the fence with them. They claim to be Lagotto specialists but I found them average, and they've always been a bit condescending (especially Erin) but I always let that pass. I made a recent appointment with two weeks notice and things went off the rails. First we received a message shortly before our appointment that we needed to reschedule since they were going to be closed for several days. Odd that they took my original appointment without knowing that but I was fine to reschedule. Their next availability was the following Saturday so we changed our plans around the change in schedule. No problem. Then things fell apart. We live 35 miles away from Coats and Tails in Washington State. And there's only one briidge on I-5 for us to get into Portland. Unfortunately on that Saturday the state of Washington decided to do major repairs on the Interstate which caused a significant stoppage, which caused all of the side roads to be severly backed up. End result is that our typical 40 minute commute took us a full hour and a half. So instead of being early, as we intended, we were 20 minutes late to arrive. First off, being late to arrive is our fault, not theirs. I did call them 30 minutes before our scheduled appointment to give them notice of our delay, but their voice message said that even though they are open they don't answer the phone or check their messgaes on Saturday. That made the delay even more stressful. I arrived 20 minutes late hoping that they could still help me, considering that I readily agreed to move their mis-scheduled appointment to a day that ended up being challenging beyond my control. The staff has helpful and understanding but they needed to ask Erin, who promptly said "no, we can't take her since you're late. We're trying to beat the heat" Which I took to say that they could have helped me but she didn't want to. She offered to reschedule, yet again. But no sympathy for what I had to go through for them. Again, I WAS LATE which was my fault. But Erin's arrogance and condescending attitute finally got to me and I'm done with this place. They do reasonably good cuts. Not enough to account for their premium pricing but it is what it is. But life's too short to put up with that arrogance and poor customer attitude. There are better options in Portland. Hope that you consider that before you go back to Coats and Tails

Here, we dropped him off and they returned him within 5 minutes. It was almost like they didn't even try. He was partially wet. I'm upset because their website is advertised as specializing in this kind of experience that makes dogs comfortable. And they treated my dog far from that.

However, she love's Elizabeth who gets the job done without making my pup scared to come back. I also love Elizabeth's attention to detail ie handling yeasty paws and rugged claws after a trip to the farm. We feel very lucky to have a good groomer after losing Darcy. Darcy got my pup comfortable in the space young but Elizabeth keeps her currently content. There are other groomers we've had do walk in nails which is a service we love!
