Damn this hotel is good looking! From the art hung on the walls, to the colour coordinated book…read moreshelf on the first floor, everything is very, very beautifully designed. You really couldn't ask for more from the look of the hotel, it's slick and urban but still has a warm homely feel. Unfortunately noise really is an issue. Chur Burger on the ground floor plays very loud music, and has an alfresco area that is below one side of the hotel, this is also the entrance area to the lift to the rooftop bar. Maybe I'm just getting old, or perhaps I should have realised this hotel is obviously a party style hotel and was best not to book here on weekends if I wasn't partying... My room was on the second floor and it was noisy, mostly with people talking in the alfresco area of Chur below. The lovely staff moved me to a quieter room on the fifth floor. One of the friendly staff members told me that they were currently looking in to how to make the rooms quieter. I suggest that when you book make a request to be in a quiet room if you're staying there on the weekend.

Again a wonderful stay in Brisbane city at a beautifully appointed apartment for mum and I…read more Serviced well and TRYP Fortitude Valley has an amazing restaurant downstairs (the foods incredible) and Chur room service. Loved the room we had this time and got to the balcony on Level 4 and used the gym on Level 5. Walked to the convenience store ALDI just down the road and bought amazing fruit and food at Jame's Street Markets - incredible shopping and food options available. Will be back. Thanks for looking after us TRYP.

Or a zombie in a tiki glass? A clockwork orange (or two)! Even the bathrooms are classy, for after the drinks as well- So stop by in fortitude valley, to sit and drink a spell.

It's classy and cool without being pompous. One thing I love about Press Club (aside from the mojitos) is the funk bands they host on a Friday night. Some of the best live funk/sca I have heard, and from locals bands nonetheless! The design of the bar is beautiful as well. There's a discreet seating area out the back that not too many people know about, as well as the lounge area that looks over Brunswick Street which is perfect for some late night people watching. If you're hosting a function or celebrating a special occasion, the platform at the back of the bar if available for hire. Sure, the crowd at Press Club is a little older (I'm talking early 30's, not walking sticks) but it makes for a not-so-tame-night free of the drama of some of the other venues in the Valley. Mix a bit of a James Brown cover with a dash of good friends, then stir with an amazing drinks menu before pouring into a excellent venue, and that pretty much sums up a night at Press Club.

Do not stay here. Not a hostel. Unsafe, insecure, more like a crack den. Caretaker Susan is lovely,…read morebut everything else is not good enough to call accommodation. If you chose to stay here, know that you have stayed at quite literally the worst place in Brisbane. Beds - the quilts appeared disgusting and unwashed. The bunk beds had burn marks on them which would be OK except they were very rickety and felt like they might fall apart any moment. And the top bunks swayed from side to side which made me feel sick. And without aircon or proper fans the top bunk in our room was so hot that my best mate got absolutely zero sleep. Which totally ruined our holiday. The next day she put the mattress on the dirty floor. The noise kept us awake, but at least she didn't boil from heat. Showers - there was only one shower with a working lock for 20 rooms. And it was in the men's bathroom, (being a female myself I had to actually use the men's bathroom which felt super awkward). There hooks for clothes were missing, and showers were not cleaned the entire time we were there, they were scummy, semi-broken and felt very disease-ridden. Window in room - the large glass windows were totally smashed! Some chunks of broken glass were on the floor and in the window area. The windows had thin plastic garbage bags covering the broken glass, but they were all ripped and didn't cover it much. Broken glass pieces were wedged into the window slots which jammed the windows permanently open so we couldn't close them properly. So there was nothing stopping insects, mosquitoes, spiders, also heat, and light entering. (Street lights and city lights were right outside blaring in all night). It was way worse than camping. The broken windows stopped no noise. All the screeching cars, people yelling, it was all right there. In this Valley industrial area there are loud generators, the booming showgrounds right next door, cars on the main road (St Pauls Tce) and the yelling drunk people. The noise that came in was a nightmare. Accommodation needs noise control for sleep. There was noise and light in our room all night. The place was empty, so I don't think they'll be getting the money to fix these problems any time soon. Lastly a few other things - the rock bottom disgusting carpets, gross pillows, crap mirrors, unsafe bathroom tiles, dirty sinks, strange handwash, dirty tops of showers with caked-on soap from years of previous people, pretty bad communal furniture, sad reception area, crap view of tin roofs from the smoking deck, and a bunch of other shit things that make your stay here bad. Electricity from powerpoints has possibly damaged my phone. My portable battery is having errors after a night plugged in. If you don't have an extra $2 a night to stay somewhere else (Like Bluetongue or ANYWHERE) then once you've inspected this place, I suggest you ask for the price to drop to somewhere like $4/night because honestly, truly is only worth that much. It offers you a bed. But you can't actually get any sleep in it. This is not a hostel. It is Guantanamo bay. Do not, in any desperate circumstances stay at this place. Not now, not ever.
