I really like how this gas station has an incredible amount of snacks, beer, fruit, and hot food!…read more I have never had any of their hot food ( I don't eat gas station food) so I can't comment on that but from what my friends have told me it is really good! They always have a vast selection of fresh doughnuts, bakery items, hot dogs, soup, and all of the beverages you could imagine. This gas station is right by my apartment so I find myself going here multiple times a day usually. Every time I go in I am greeted right away and the service is tremendous. The gas priced are some of the cheapest in the area too. They accept bottle and can redemptions for recycling, which is convenient. Overall, everything a good gas station experience should be!

Then hear videos being played in the stall. I asked the employee, "are you just sitting there watching videos?" He smugly replied, "yeah, I am" and turns up the volume. I go to a manager to complain, and I can't get him to even acknowledge my presence. I tried to tell him about the employee sitting in the bathroom just watching videos. He ignores me. No comment. Nothing. Straight out ignores me as if I was not there. When I go up the counter to make my purchases, he's behind the counter and won't make eye contact. On any other day, I would have nothing but praise for this store. I don't know the manager who ignored me, nor do I know the employee that was having his movie break. I don't know who, if anyone, was in charge. As a customer, I feel very disrespected by this treatment. I'm, however, so pleased that employees watching videos in the bathroom have a higher priority than customers. In any case, when a customer comes up to an employee, (let alone a manager) and has a complaint, be professional at least and have the common decency to not ignore the customer. I had come to expect more from Kwik Star.

So how does a tourist from San Francisco wind up at Sattre?…read more Easy! Miss a turn on a dark Decorah night and start a backroads gravel-kickin' adventure! We didn't actually get into the store - it was after 11pm... but for a couple of lost left-coasters a five-way crossroads tells you to GET HELP! So, we owe a debt of gratitude to the crossroads and Sattre store, which will be forever embedded in our minds and will be an important destination next time we come through the land of the Vikings. Getting straightened out without navigational aids - just enough clouding to block the good ol' North Star - is easier said than done in Decorah when your cellphone is on AT&T.... literally backing up or going forward 20' could be the difference between "NO SERVICE" and one flickering bar. Plagued with cellephonicus interrupticus, we tried getting directions from the front desk at our hotel... but they managed to get us deeper into Iowa's heart of darkness. I asked the hotel desk to give me the number for Decorah police. That took care of it. Just another ten-fifteen on gravel roads and then a sprint to downtown. Victory, so sweet! A three-hour tour, Iowa style. There's a song in there somewhere... hey, how about a few lines.... Never been so lost as I was in Sattre, Yet somehow, it made me sad when I was found. I didn't know that crossroads Could come to mean so much, Yes I'll see you The next time I come around.

Ah Yes, The Satre Store is an Iowa "not to be missed"! Five gravel roads do come together at the…read morecrest of a hill, a beautiful, but dusty spot in Big Corn Country.
