Jim did an excellent job! Everyone told us it was the best wedding they ever attended. There were always people on the dance floor having a good time. He played very appropriate music. Jim was attentive to details. Answered all our questions in a timely manner. Made himself available, was receptive to questions, and was very reassuring throughout the entire process. Jim also was great about last minute decisions and changes to our plan. The music was not a conern I worried about during the planning process or even the day of. We did not have a wedding coordinator, so we relied on our vendors to help us coordinate the wedding and keep it running smoothly. Jim at Pulse Entertainment was a big part of this coordination. His web site has great features that let us educate Jim about our goals and allowed him to keep our wedding on track. Wedding Time Line This area of his site allowed us to coordinate the wedding and define when certain events happened. (Meal Service, Formal Dances, Announcements, etc) This was very valuable when coordinating with the caterer. It also allowed for quick adjustments to the time line as unexpected things came up. Wedding Traditional 20 This area of his site allowed us to address a lot of the typical wedding things. What songs should he play for formal dances? What did we want him to specifically say during announcements and introductions? Did we want a bouquet or garter toss? It helped him to understand what we wanted and more importantly what we did not. Music Request. This section allows you categorize songs based on preference. You can select Must Play, Would Like Played, and Do Not Play. Jim was very good at playing most of the songs we requested, but there were a couple songs we did not hear that we wish we had. Next to each song you can make a note to Jim and I wish we had identified a few songs as special in the Notes area. In all fairness, we did tell Jim to use his best judgment. We wanted to give him the freedom to do his job and react to the vibe coming from the crowd. The guests loved the music and we got a lot of compliments on the DJ. I am sure all DJ's have fancy websites now, but Jim was very thought when talking about our wedding and met with us twice to discuss the details. If you are interviewing DJ's you know that there are some big egos out there. On multiple occasions Jim said "I want this to be what you want. This is your day and I just want to help make it as nice as possible." He had zero ego, was extremely helpful, and was a great help in keeping the wedding on track and providing us with great music. Lastly, Jim was a good value. More often than not you find 2 types of DJ's. 1.) the big head/ego guy that charges thousands of dollars and insists you call him DJ Ed or DJ Bob and 2.) the kid on craigslist that will DJ your wedding for $200 using his iPod. Jim is awesome! We had a blast and it was thanks to the great music he played at our event! It was so easy to work with him from beginning to end. I think that his online request system is top notch - I have never seen this from another DJ service. We will absolutely use Jim again for any event we have in the future. Jim was the absolute best wedding DJ! From the very start he was very accommodating. We live about an hour from our wedding location, and he offered to meet us half way just to talk and see if we liked what he had to offer. He sat and talked with us for over an hour answering all of our questions. He has an online program which makes it easy to put in all of your song requests and when you want them played. At the wedding he played the perfect music for every moment. We got soooooo many compliments on his DJ skills. Our photographer said she would have booked him for her wedding if she hadn't booked one for her upcoming wedding already....and she goes to a lot of weddings! My husband even tipped him an extra hundred at the end of the night because he was so impressed...and he never does that! So long story short, go with Jim! Jim quickly figured out the music we wanted after giving him only a handful of requests. He had everybody up and dancing at our Halloween party and he made it extra special for us. Jim DJed our wedding last weekend in Sharon, and it was a fabulous time! We had informed him that many of our guests were theatre performers, and he had the Broadway music flowing before the reception had even officially begun (watching my Maid of Honour and bridesmaids vamp to "All That Jazz" while the photographer too family shots is a moment we will remember forever!) He also worked with my "little sister" who has Downs Syndrome, who had written a speech and rehearsed a song for us, and put her right at ease. We also had a bunch of last minute changes to our wedding party line-up, and Jim rolled with the punches and took it all in stride. He definitely is quick on his feet. In short? I'm awfully picky and I can't find a single fault with Jim. We hired him to DJ a rather large and elaborate birthday party (about 45 people in our home). He brought and set up all his equipment very quickly and quietly. One thing that really saved our event is that he has wireless speakers and they are of great quality, so we were able to set him up in the balcony overlooking our great room, and everyone was dancing down below him. These speakers make it so easy to plan an event with any layout. He worked tirelessly late into the evening and was cheerful throughout -- just like you'd want a DJ to be. His music suggestions were perfect and he had everything we asked for on hand. The only cheesy music was the stuff we asked for! My only regret is that I didn't write this review sooner -- our event was a couple of years ago. read more
