First ever visit to a cigar shop. Looking for my first 3 cigars to take on a 4-state weekend motorcycle trip with the guys. The owner was friendly, helpful, and listened to my tobacco preferences (I'm a former pipe / cigarette smoker). All 3 we picked ended up spot on. I'll swing by before next year's trip. I chose the grape cigar and we were able to smoke in the adjacent lounge. A true tobacconist with customer service that surpasses excellent, while also having a bountiful selection of quality leaf for the pipe smoker and cigar connoisseur. Google or Yelp "tobacco shop" in the area, and more often than not, the majority of results are either cigar shops or head stores. Sure, some cigar shops sell pipes and pipe tobacco, but usually the selection is slim - maybe a house blend, basket pipes, and a few tins from a popular blender. In my experience, coming across a true tobacconist has been few and far between. However, Puff 'N' Stuff is the real deal. The owner and staff not only know their tobacco, but they're also genuinely kind and passionate about sharing their knowledge and helping customers find what they're looking for. I am primarily a pipe smoker, and let me tell you, their selection of tobaccos is... very impressive. When I smoke cigars, I usually ask for help selecting some that appeal to my palette, and so far, the recommendations I've received from the staff have been on point. Very good selection of both pipe tobacco and cigars. I needed a few tins of pipe tobacco for Xmas of 2016 and they have the Dunhill and Esoterica in stock. Pretty impressive actually. Took a stroll around their humidor and glad to see many established houses such as the Padron, Don Pepin, Tatuaje and Fuentes. In addition, they stock many boutique, up and rising houses such as Warped! and I think I saw some Crowned Heads too. Prices are fair and the clerk was cordial and knowledgeable. Looking forward to stop by more often to replenish my cache and pick up that elusive tin of penzance. read more

I normally buy the same kind but when I want to try something new the staff has pointed me in a good direction. I know they have a lounge in the back but I haven't been there to see it I am normally in and out. I know they will be moving soon to a bigger and better location. This is an excellent store. The owner Alan, has a terrific palate. If you let him know what you like, he will give you very good recommendations. He will ramble on about things, so beware. Keep him focused and you will learn a good deal about the craft of blending, aging and rolling. The selection and pricing at Puff 'n Stuff is excellent. Alan is most often willing to work on his prices. The cigar selection: Oliva, Bradley, Davidoff (limited), Tatuaje, Padron, Don Pepin, Casa Fernandez, Illusione, Montecristo, Punch, La Gloria, Perdomo, Blanco, Rocky Patel, etc. PnS also has an enormous selection of loose and tinned pipe tobacco. If you want it, they probably have it. Call ahead if you are looking for something really obscure. The selection of smoking pipes is slim. The location is rather small, so there is limited display available for pipes. Alan is looking to move to a bigger location to increase the pipe inventory. I suggest that he keep cabinets with drawers as is done in Europe. Ostermann in Vienna is a very small shop with a massive selection of pipes. They keep them in cabinets that hold several hundred pipes each. Just an idea. There is a small sitting area in the back with decent ventilation and a TV. Alan likes to play chess and is very good. A few of the regulars will also play and may even ask you if your up for a game. Friendly place with great selection of cigars and pipe tobacco. Keep up the good work Alan! I love this place. this is where i go to buy all my tobacco. its awesome and yes, unprepossessing but i like funky holes in the walls anyhow. every time i go there there are people hanging out, and al seems to get along with absolutely everyone. i have seen cops hugging each other in here. And SOMETHING goes on in the back room, not sure what, a lounge? I have never bothered to ask but it gives it a bit of a mysterious vibe, like a speakeasy, perfectly bespeaking Al's Chicago origins, or am i just being florid and overly imaginative? Anyway, great guys, great tobacco, and never in my life have I seen so many cheaply priced cigar boxes- a buck each. every place else i have been to charges up to ten bucks for those things, so if you like cigar boxes to put your chit in, go here. AVOID the cigar shop in downtown decatur, the folks weren't friendly when i went in and they are horribly overpriced. read more

After reading the reviews here, I decided to stop by for a tin of tobacco. Like one poster said, this place does not have the feel of grumpy old men. There is a deck out front and when I arrived, there were half a dozen guys enjoying cigars there. The shop is small, but two humidors occupy the bulk of the space. I was looking for a particular blend of Mac Baren tobacco. Unfortunately, they did not have it. The young guy working there felt bad, so he made every attempt to find a suitable substitute. I could tell he wanted to be out front with the guys, but did not rush or push me in to a choice. He opened numerous tins, letting me smell them before I made a choice. I am not sure how competitive the prices are, but the customer service here is beyond reproach. I will be back again. Funny, I had driven past this place for years not knowing it existed. Not your new upscale shop that wil be closed in a year, this is a man's cigar shop, small backroom, standing room only, outside seating. you wont find latest cabernet here, but great cigars, well kept, fair prices. Missing the comforts of a cigar bar, but made up for with quality, selection and friendly folk at the register. the owner is quick to give advice and opinion, lots of it, but not in the least unwelcome. The outward appearance of this shop is hardly prepossessing but you'll find what you're looking for or Al will find it for you. Great range of cigars for all tastes and an awesome selection of pipe tobacco. The customers to frequent this place also seem to have a love for smoking and are happy to hang out in the back lounge or sit out front just to spend time with other smokers. If you can't find a brand you're looking for just ask and Al will find the equivalent for you. He has a fine palate but you'll notice that he's his own best customer. I've been here twice and both times i was very happy with the staff. it doesn't have a huge inventory of vaping equipment, but it has what you need. I've always noticed Puff and Stuff when I would be across the street getting my car washed. Then, one day I finally decided to check it out. I wanted to see if they had any juice for my vap pen. And boy did they? It's been about a year now and I've been going to them for all my vap needs. The staff knows their products, which is rare nowadays. I also wondered what goes on in that back room. Great little cigar shop with a huge selection, it is the Tardis of cigar shops. And of course importantly, a great value, not overpriced. Puff N' Stuff was a local haunt for me. It has a great selection, and very friendly staff, and Al the owner knows more about cigars than any man I have ever met. However... Their lounge is really really poor. Its small and cramped, and the modest TV is mounted so high on the ceiling that its a strain to watch. The couches are comfortable, but aren't matching and look like they were picked up at a yard sale. Did I mention the lounge doubles as their storage room? Their humidor is VERY well stocked, but is very inconsistent with respect to the conditions inside. The sticks tend to be over-humidified (I've seen their hygrometers at 80%), and the temperature is rarely below 75 degrees. I've never had any problems with beetles or mold, but they flirt with it more than I like. My biggest beef is the stores tendency to fluctuate prices based on demand/rarity of a stick. I had noticed variations on many of their sticks, which some are very competitively priced, while others are $1 or more over anywhere else. The straw that broke the camels back was this... I happened to be at the store when a new shipment of a highly anticipated cigar came in. I purchased 2 right away to do a review, and Al quoted me $12/per stick. Now, being a new stick I didn't have much background knowledge of what the MSRP would be, so I accepted it. Unfortunately 2 weeks later I found that the cigars MSRP is $8. I confronted Al about this, and was given a long drawn out explanation of taxes, and markup. The thing that bothered me the most is that as much time and money I spent there, I was still treated as a stranger that didn't know any better. I haven't been back since. Puff n' Stuff is a great In and out place, and the friendly staff is a big attraction, and Al will have the answer to any question you can think of about cigars...but if you don't do your research and know the pricing before you go in, they will take advantage of it. read more
