    a pile of firewood logs

Tis the night before Christmas and the parking is a mess, it appears this entrance is a challenge on any day of the year but I found a parking spot in the middle of the lot so my walk wasn't terribly far. I was prepared for a chaotic experience with everyone doing their last minute shopping along with a lot of empty shelves, but that wasn't the case, the staff was prepared with plenty of employees stocking the shelves and extra checkers and baggers all working hard to keep things moving and doing it all with a welcoming smile and friendly customer interactions. I had a relatively short shopping list so I anticipated being in and out of here rather quickly. I consider myself an expert shopper so I easily navigated the asiles with little effort circumventing the undecided ones that no doubt could be here awhile. Two bottles of champagne, a few jars of seasonings, a dozen eggs, a loaf of fresh baked french bread and a box of "joy" sugar cones and I'm standing at the checkout. I picked a lane that seemed to be too good to be true and it was, although I was second in line the guy in front of me was doing his last minute Christmas shopping and everyone he knows is getting gift cards and the cashier is even less thrilled than me - he was paying with a stack of Publix gift cards and they all seemed to be of small values so it took several to pay for the cards he was gifting, I'm just glad he couldn't leave a note for each of the recipients. Well she got through it and the holiday season smile never left her but I suspect she was happy to see I only had a few items. I made it to the Jeep to find my aisle completely stuffed with vehicles waiting on a spot just passed mine. I carefully placed my goods in the back since everything in my bags were breakable, as I put the TJ in reverse I realized I just created a real issue for the guy just passed my space by a car fender who was second for the spot all the others were waiting to back out and that's when an Angel appeared out of nowhere not with feathered wings but in the form of a shopping cart pusher dressed in a green Publix shirt who voluntarily took control and directed traffic and made me a gap to escape unscathed, definitely a divine gift for me and the KIA Soul who pulled in my space before I could straighten my steering. I loved this Publix even on one of the busiest days of the year...

Where shopping is a pleasure OR when Publix chicken tender subs are on sale Are you really a Floridian if you haven't had one of these bad boys? They are a bit pricey, but so worth it. They grab their fried tenders from the hot case throw it in some soft french bread and then you go wild with your toppings. I keep it simple with, lettuce, spinach, banana peppers & then smother it in honey mustard. Win win chicken (sub) dinner

Big with almost anything you might want to consume, except lags in the organic, non-high fructose dairy products. Publix price point for organic Fruits & Veggies is way high; better off going to a local Farmers Market or any of the local grower stands. Staff are fairly nice; even most of those stocking shelves will stop & escort to whatever aisle or item, rather than just pointing. AND Publix carries a better brand selection than the BigBox store down the street. I refuse to buy China-manufactured products that have made the Chinese more wealthy, at America's expense! Easy access off Hwy 40/Silver Springs Blvd & lots of parking.

Lately, I've been giving out 5 star reviews like Oprah with her favorite things. You get 5-stars! And you get 5-stars! In the case of Publix, it is well deserved. Coming from Los Angeles, where if an employee of a store looks in your general direction, you consider yourself lucky, the service at Publix is mind-blowing. They go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied with your visit. I once asked where I could find a particular item. The friendly young man asked a few qualifying questions and told me he'd be right back. Then he took off running to bring me what I was looking for! I didn't have to move. He literally ran the entire way. I didn't expect him to do that, and was a touch embarrassed at first, but I got over it. After talking to my brother about Publix and learning he experienced something similar at this store, I was very pleased to realize that this is par for the course. And the employees aren't just robots- they actually have personalities and can carry on engaging conversations. I love the staff at the sandwich counter. I always have a good time talking to them while they make my sandwich. Speaking of sandwiches, I don't really have to go into much detail here. Publix is known throughout the South as the finest place to get a sandwich, but for my LA readers, I will expand a little. The whole sandwich is huge. A half is also available, but they are so good I never bother with the smaller one. You can either get store brand meats, or, for a little more, you can get Boar's Head brand. And the fresh bread is on point. I always get the white sub roll, which is in that perfect zone where it is soft, but has a nice crust (not too chewy!) holding everything together. They also have a sandwich special for about $6.50 or $7 (whole) that changes every 3 weeks or so. For example, this week it's turkey with bacon, smoked Gruyere cheese, and cranberry orange relish. But the showstopper for me is the chicken tender sub ($8.99 whole). Once I ordered one I never went back. I get the same thing every time I visit. They take about 5 or 6 huge tenders from the hot deli section and chop them up into bite size pieces. I get mine tossed in buffalo sauce, add some Provolone and blue cheeses ($1 for double cheese), and toast the whole thing. To finish up, I have them add ranch dressing and some delicious Boar's Head garlic pickle slices. They also have all of the usual sandwich toppings, which are super fresh, but that's all I get on my sandwich. Mmm, getting hungry just writing about it. So much for not going into detail. That's just one way to get your chicken tender sub. If you can imagine it, Publix will do everything they can to make it. If they don't have an item at the sandwich counter, the staff will go into the store aisles and take it off the shelf if they have to. Within reason, obviously. They do this frequently for my blue cheese crumbles. Publix might be a little pricier than other stores in the area, but they are not out of line, especially for the level of service and quality they provide. It's not like Whole Foods or Bristol Farms prices by any stretch. And I feel like I don't have to dodge lazy people on their rascals as much as say, Winn-Dixie down Hwy 40. That place is a mess. Overall, I think Publix is the best grocery store in the country. I just wish we had them back home.

This is the rotten fruit. Almost completely black inside

Yesterday I went in and I'm always reminded of the kind courteous service that I consistently receive when I'm there. From asking for the simplest of things the employees are always so kind and considerate showing care to towards the customer. I picked up a few fresh fruits and vegetables that had tasted better than some other local groceries. This isn't new but the reminder had me writing this review thinking how much I appreciate this Key Food. Then I went to the line where they have fresh cooked foods and the aroma is so wonderful. I've bought this food before too and yes it's always delicious, fresh and tasty better than home cooked but homestyle if you know what to do! I picked up a few Venezuelan Beef empanadas, some Carne Guissada or Beef Stew! I went and looked and had seen some chicken baked and seasoned so perfectly, boy was I right! When I can home the flavors were so good and the chicken tender beyond belief I'm sorry that I didn't get a few pieces more! I had this place bookmarked but I try to stay away from College Road as much as possible. We were at a nearby store and it was evening time so I figured that would be a perfect time. The store was dead. It is huge inside. We didn't know what to expect so we just browsed the store, aisle by aisle. We started by the entrance, through the beverage section. It did not take long to notice the severely overpriced items. The meat section was not big and there was not much to select from. There was not much we were impressed with throughout the aisles but when we arrived at end of our browsing, we wound up in the bakery and deli section. That is where I shopped! I found a bleu cheese that is difficult to find. I picked up a premade chicken salad sandwich on a croissant, which was so delicious! It tasted fresh and pure. We checked out after that and the cashier was not enthusiastic. That's okay, they were not rude either. I wound up spending more than I wanted to. I might visit again if I am in the same plaza again but I do not envision myself intentionally shopping here.

I have been exploring plant based products for the last couple of years and attempting the more holistic route so Earth Origins definitely assists with that. I will say, the prices are astronomical for many products but reasonable for other products. The produce department is super small, with only organic options, and not many options for vegetables or fruits. They have a small salad bar, which is measured by the pound. There is also a hot soup bar, with I think 2 options but they close that early-maybe around 5pm? There is also a deli/ seafood/ sushi counter where you can purchase a la carte items, with premade options already packaged for grab and go. They also have ramen you can order! Next is a bulk area with a huge selection of nuts, coffee, seeds, legumes, snacks, etc. I finally purchased some during my last visit. I was a little slow in figuring it out. You put the items in a bag, then tie it with a wire tag, then write the UPC code # on the tag so the cashier can type it in. There is also fresh nut butters and honey and pastries in the same area. There are aisles of dry goods, supplements, vitamins, personal care, snacks, beverages, and treats. There is also a small wine section, with a lot of local wines. Lined up against the back of the store and the last aisle are refrigerated and freezer items. I always purchase items in the area! If you join their membership, you receive special deals daily.
