tomatoes and spinach on a tray
Misty W.

I'm originally from FL. My work has taken me to an area where Publix doesn't exist. So whenever I'm close to Mobile I stop at a Publix. This is the 2nd time I've been to this particular location and both visits have left me severely disappointed. Last night I stopped to get a couple subs, chicken tenders and a cake as requested by my son for his birthday. At the deli was the same employee that made my subs during my last visit and did a poor job, I had chalked it up to her being new and figured next visit would be better because Publix has standards, right? Oh how wrong I was. The same girl was making subs again tonight. I requested 2 subs, a Boars Head Ultimate and a Boars Head roast beef. We're fairly simple people. Provolone on both, mayo, lettuce, tomato, salt and pepper, oil and vinegar on the side. Easy right? Wrong again. The toppings were wilted and just pathetic looking. I requested fresher veggies. I was ignored and my request confused her in the middle of making the ultimate. She got turkey and cheddar out. I politely reminded her of my request for an Ultimate. She put mustard on the bread. No mustard, just mayo, oil and vinegar on the side. She finally gets the Ultimate made. Tries again with the turkey. No. Roast. Beef. "Oh well I'm going to need to cut that". Okay? We won't discuss why you're not prepared for the dinner rush, I want roast beef. Gets the roast beef, again with the mustard. NO. MAYO, SALT AND PEPPER ONLY. At this point I'm not not even mentioning oil and vinegar on the side. Words seem to confuse her. She's finishing the 2nd sub and asks if I need anything else. I remind her of the oil and vinegar and the chicken tenders I've requested. She says oh right and then WALKS AWAY. I'm standing there dumbfounded watching her walk out of the deli area towards the front of the store. She left. SHE. LEFT. I ask another employee if he can help me with the chicken tenders and oil and vinegar. While he's finishing the task she comes back and asks what the problem is. I pointed out what she forgot, she just stared at me. Whatever. I get the tenders and oil and vinegar, grab a couple other things we needed and go to checkout. I asked the cashier if she could get the manager for me when she was done. I explained it was nothing she did but I felt I needed to speak to them. She tells me no one's available. Do what? Publix has managers, assistant managers, lead customer service reps etc. and no one is available? By this point I'm angry and just left, there's no reason for this Publix to operate any differently than what I'm used to. Publix needs to get a handle on this location and raise its employees to the standards Publix shoppers have come to expect.

Always a pleasant shopping experience here! The to-go sushi is awesome, and the deli is absolutely delectable! I love this place!

The fries one seriously looks like a little container of French fries, but they're chocolate/vanilla ice cream bars with a strawberry jam dipping pack. The soccer ball was almost too cute to eat--and perfect for our soccer-loving family! Definitely one of those treats you buy because they look fun, but they actually tasted good too. The kids got a huge kick out of them! Would absolutely grab these again if we spotted them!

I was on the hunt for a decent pack of sardines. We just came from Baton Rouge and we are using to having Whole Foods etc. it is a small store but they do have some good products. My daughter and husband got the fruit shaped ice cream. I did find some sardines / not the brands I was hoping for but definitely better than what's around. I was going to get a bottle of wine. However I did notice a wine I normally get is 14/15 dollars and they market it up to 26.77 there- and it's the same bottle. In my mind that's too big of a market up. I ended up going to isla wine instead which is a boutique wine store and their mark up is only 1-2$ more than the general price. This store also has caviar which I'd love to buy but now I do feel like I have to make sure I'm not getting ripped off.

I will be honest with you. I was a bit confused and nervous I was maybe going in the wrong direction. I was assured that I'm doing fine I was driving along to the store and all the sudden it was in my left driving south. Only reason why I gave it my star review. No fault on them. Forgive me it was my first time going here. A bit of a challenge pulling in especially a left with lots of traffic. No fault on them. And the parking lot is limited. Do not be discouraged by this. Not only they have a small parking lot next to it they few spots in the front of store off the main road. But there are plenty of parking spots available few stores down. Honestly, I would have never known about this place if not recommended. It maybe a small spot but well worth it. It is an international stop but mainly accommodating to the Filipino community. They offer many great food options for you as well as fresh baked goods. They do offer a small dining area but subject to change and availability. The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. They are bi-lingual not only in English but also Tagalog. I would highly recommend it if you are in the area. I especially would have not known about this place. I am so glad that she recommended it!
