All units are covered in rat feces, rat urine and roaches. Also all the elevators were broken when I tried move in. Go somewhere else. The rate might seem good, but they will raise it 20% every 6 months. read more

The pricing is reasonable and the office staff is very helpful! If you download the app it makes everything easily accessible, including the gate. I am saving $50 a month for the same type of unit which I would have found elsewhere. I enjoy knowing there is security and climate control. read more

Having maintained a unit within the air condition portion of Merritt Island's Public Storage units since 2016 to date? I think my review here is one of experience. And I want to ensure anyone reading that I am very aware that any corporate-owned storage units are most often NOT provided for long-term use. In 2016, I found the need for a small (5 x 5) storage. It has been fine, not fabulous, not without some problematic issues, but fine. Of course, the price has excelled over the years. Who would expect it not to? Consistency within service is all I feel needed in return for my monthly payment. Most often provided by various managers & staff. However? Exceptions in acceptance of actions within management are unacceptable, within boundaries of common sense that is. The units are clean, a consistent throughout the years. The patrons encountered have been fine, as I have never felt threatened in the long halls that are motion-light-directed. The hours are a bit restrictive given many other storage areas in location that provide a later closing, whereas here does not in my opinion. All part of choosing what is best for your needs. There is an option available online & provided on the contract to add an additional individual. One allowed access to the unit, notification in emergency & a general authority to govern whatever is needed in the signee's absence. As this past year involved issues of personal nature involving not being present in Brevard County much of the time, I felt assured my roommate would handle any issue presented as his name & information were noted on the account since the date of agreement in 2016. The last on-site manager "Walt" dealt with my assigned contact with no issue, even when I had a "lien" or "notice for auction" assigned to my unit due to my lack of payment for several months. My fault, non by management. Walt worked with my representative directly, payment & problems were resolved, although I was never present in the transactions. Shortly thereafter, both text & email from Public Storage appeared requesting my immediate attention to "securing my unit." Evidently, during the period of non-payment, my lock was removed and replaced with a lock directly assigned from the Pubic Storage inventory. I directed my contract-designated representative to purchase & take a lock to the office, which he did. The lock was refused in acceptance by the new resident manager, regardless of my representative credentials and prior authorization in all financial areas since again. The signed agreement was dated 2016. The notices continued until I was in town in November 2022. I took the lock to the office to be provided and have Public Storages lock removed, returning to inventory. Having foolishly ran over without planning? I neglected to bring any form of identification, and the manager refused acceptance of the lock. Yes, seriously. I called the corporate office, explained the odd situation, and was told to contact her regional supervisor & provided the information for his contact directly. To report and resolve. Not wanting to be deemed a "Karen", I believed this was becoming ridiculous. I declined to report her, hoping to work this out. An action I regret now not pursuing. To the current date of 2023, the lock is STILL refused, and entrance into my 5x5 storage has been refused to my agent, although the same manager refusing and dismissing his credentials freely called him to report a late payment. A bit hypocritical in personal service I feel. Items I needed to be removed while I away remain untouched in a storage unit I pay for monthly. With no permission to enter since 2022. My wallet with picture identification was stolen in late December 2022, and no other form of identification seems to be acceptable for her. Until replaced? Denied entrance. My representative's current and valid identification was denied. Rather unreasonable for one whose contract dates back to 2016 as what could I possibly be "up to" in providing this requested lock? I feel it is beyond petty, and quite unprofessional. So keep in mind the unreasonable issues mentioned here, & choose a storage area meeting your needs. Perhaps her diligence to extend her ideas of permissible actions may be found admirable, regardless of the stretch taken to benefit her immediate needs. The lack of enforcement in Public Storages' contract assignment? Should be of consideration in choosing storage, & having confidence in where your items are safely attended to. Maybe not in paid storage managed & directed by whim, not contract. In the area of Merritt Island Florida? I suggest you choose wisely. read more

Did not like this place, and actually moved back out after three weeks and found another place. The corridors are dimly lit and, frankly, creepy. The layout is confusing and feels a bit like you're in a maze. The A/C is barely functional. The elevators are undersized and unreliable. (I understand they are re-doing them, and not a minute too soon.) Cannot recommend this place. read more

I've had nothing but issues. First day I get there use the app. Gate access on app doesn't work then I can't get in with a gate code because the code is not registered. Contacted property manager Contacted 1800 number and no answer. No one has called me back or helped me with ANYTHING waiting over 15min to speak with someone ..nothing. We had our extra belongings in a different storage unit in the area. It was an outside unit with poor rodent control. A couple friends suggested checking out Public Storage as this is where they have a unit. What a huge difference! We met with the site manager who showed us an inside, climate-controlled unit with the same dimensions as our other unit. He was very pleasant and knowledgable. He made sure all our storage needs were met with full satisfaction. It was a clear decision to move our belongings here especially with the price being MUCH lower. read more

I rented with this place when I first moved from Missouri. The employees have always been very kind, but my last experience ruined everything. When moving out of this unit, I had a family member move my belongings while I was out of town. Because I was the person who rented the unit, and it was under my name, I didn't think the Public Storage employee would let my family member check me out of the unit. After all, I am the one who had the contract. In the end, an Olympic bar was left in one of the corners, which was easily missed by the family member because it was the same color as the wall. When I returned from being out of town, I noticed the bar was not at my house, and the unit was checked out. I called as soon as the place opened at 9:30am, and was told I would receive a phone call as soon as the employee checked the unit. Because they were busy, it took 3 hours for them to return the call. The employee then stated that the bar was not there and he was the only person who had ever entered the unit after I left. I have a hard time believing this, because it was a female who was working the day the unit was checked out, and she would have inspected the unit prior to placing the lock on it. In addition, the female employee did not inspect the unit with my family member, which from my understanding was part of their policy. I find this to be terrible customer service towards the person who was actually paying them, and having someone else check out of the unit should be against policy. Update: I just switched the review from 2 stars to 1, and if I could rate it with 0, I would. I spoke with the property manager about checking cameras, and he is refusing to do so. He said the only cameras they have are to the doors going into the place, and he seems to have zero concern over this situation. Even though the place was paid for through June 6th, the manager stated the item was probably already thrown away. I asked if they would have done that without calling the person who owned the unit, and he said yes. I will now be reaching out to corporate regarding this situation and the lack of customer service and security of this place. The person who entered my unit was not even on the list of people who could enter, and yet he was not once questioned. As soon as he was trying to check out of my unit, the employee should have looked at the contract and confirmed that person had permission. This did not happen. At the very least, I would have expected a phone call from the property as soon as all this was taking place. It is a major lack of security on their end. I highly recommend finding a different place to rent. read more

Very clean property, units seem new, friendly, helpful staff. BUT, the 'move in for $24' deal ended up really costing $38 for the first month. Still a good deal, but don't advertise it as 'Move in for $24', when it's really going to cost me $38. Insurance is $11, and I had to buy something in the showroom (???), so I bought a box for $2.99. Didn't really get that either. read more
