The LAST place you'd think of to review for personal service is a self storage place, but here I am, writing my VERY FIRST YELP review about them -- they are that good... I recently had to relocate VERY quickly (as in, move out suddenly), and had a bunch of stuff that needed temporary storage. These folks were quick to get me set up so that I could get my belongings out of my previous place the same day, applied every discount and sale price they could think of to help me out, and later upgraded my space when I decided that I'd leave my things for another month. They are VERY friendly, very efficient and were enormously comforting to someone (me) obviously in distress. They are located RIGHT where Wickham bends, if you know the area, and the gated storage area is accessible until 9PM. Thanks to Public Storage my life is back in order, as is my new place! Other reasons they are the BEST: 1. When my credit card on file wouldn't auto charge the rental, they called to remind me, which saved me a late charge, 2. They make follow up calls to be sure you have everything you need. 3. the units contents are INSURED, and the locks they sell are warrantied (In my haste I broke the key off in the lock I bought from them, and they just handed me another one). I don't really understand the logic of the business practices of these storage companies. I was a customer of PS for several months until they raise the rental price twice where it would have been more than double my initial rate for a 5x10 until. I moved all my stuff to a new place at Extra Storage about a half mile away. They had a 10x10 unit for just $69 a month and was assured this wasn't some kind of introductory rate that would jump a few months later. Well, 4 months later I get a post card notice the rate was changing to $122 a month. I called the local manager, tried to get them to reconsider but they had no authority beyond reducing the rate to $103 a month. That same day PS sent me an email saying they wanted me back and offered a fixed rate for 12 months, no admin fee, first month free and free lock. I found they had a 10x15 unit available at just $57 a month and yes, it was guaranteed for 12 months! Easy choice and just about 3 hours to move my stuff back. Bottom lines PS is now renting a unit with a guaranteed lower rate than what I started with for a unit 1/3 the original size and ES is advertising first month free for my unit at $69 a month. So what's the point? Are they betting people won't just move out when face with huge rent increases that defy their actual prices for new customers? Yes, I saved my lock from ES for next year when I'll inevitably see a monster rate increase from PS. read more

Whatever you do...DO NOT USE LOCATION 4630 Babcock St. Melbourne. This location is RAT INFESTED. I LOST MOST OF MY ITEMS! Of course mamagement has come up with some stupid loophole so I get nothing! Isn't managements responsibility to provide a clean and safe environment! How was I to know that RATS would chew up all my stuff. Also...WARNING...you my get a good rate going on but it won't take long for them to raise the rates. I was there a 16 months and rent went up 3 times. I showed up at my unit to get some Christmas stuff out realistic couldn't find my key when home looked couldn't find it came back the next day asking them to cut the lock for me that I'd bought a new one. I was told it was a lock with 2 keys I said 3 times it's my lock and I don't have the key I'm just asking you to cut it off for me. I was told well we'll have to do a work order and a district manager will have to do that. Excuse me I'm not working on someone else's time I pay for the unit I ask for a simple request for help to cut off my lock on my unit that is solely in my name with my lock they refused told me to call a locksmith. So I left after trying a hacksaw which did not work found a friend on the other side of Melbourne over on 192 mind you the unit is in Vieira that had bolt cutter's I could use and then drive all the way back to cut the lock. There needs to be some human training not just rules in a book understandably if there was more than 1 person on it of course you would not cut the lock I simply asked you to let me into my unit that is a human thing not a rule in a book that as I know I can't or make a phone call with my circumstances but I was told to call a locksmith no customer service whatsoever. Needless to say extremely frustrated wasted time of my day wasted gas in my vehicle to do it myself when they could have done it in 2 seconds. read more

Minimal customer service as a company, unwilling to match their own rates. With multiple offers currently available for larger units (5*8 and larger) at substantially lowered rates (40-50 per month) than my current 5*5 unit for $60+ per month, they are unwilling to reduce my fee to match that of a larger option. I have never missed it been late a payment, not have I caused any issues during my business. It's an empty space with a lock on it. Weather controlled and standard storage available. read more

Beware of Public Storage. We rented a 10 x 10 storage unit there and was paying around $140 a month. then we got a card in the mail saying that our rent is going up to $225 a month. I went online to look to see if it's just their prices in general all coming up, but they were advertising my same storage unit for $144 a month, $180 full price. So I called the company to find out. Why is my price going up to more than what they advertised as the regular price. I was told that after six months, the company reviews the account and determines how much they want to start charging you. And I asked him can I just rented again for the lower price. He said yes I could rent a different identical unit and basically be paying $80 less a month if I wanted to move all my stuff every 6 months. I completely understand the lower initial cost, but to charge me more than what they advertise full price is criminal IMO. They are literally betting I will pay rather than move my stuff in the summer. And I only got a 2 week notice. So they've gotten a couple of months out of me because I've been too busy and it's been too hot to move my stuff. But I wanted to warn other people who may use storage areas not to use Public Storage for long term. I think we will go back to Life Storage. read more

I never leave reviews. However I want to make you aware of what it is they do here. Yes they're nice getting you all set up then in six months rent goes up 50$. If that's not bab then 75$ increase 3 months later will certainly catch your eye. Don't do it there are plenty of places around. read more

I stopped in to purchase some moving boxes as a gift for my clients today. The staff were able to help me figure out which package of boxes would be best for the job. Then, both of the ladies had to help me try plans A, B, & C to get the large pack of boxes into my car. Each plan failed. There we were in the heat of the day. Instead of getting frustrated, we had a few laughs and together we dismantled the pack and got the boxes in the car. Went in today to rent some storage units at this location and was very happy with my transaction. Madeline and Joyce we a logistical power duo. They were friendly, and tech savy. The facilities were clean and the storage units were spacious. There is a place in the back to turn around trucks, that you can't see from the road. I got a month free and they helped me set up automatic payments. I would recommend this business to anyone looking for storage space. read more

I never thought a storage unit could be given less than 5 stars, but Public Storage has found a way. I'm leaving this review to make aware of my dissatisfaction in the 3 notifications & most importantly the tonality of them all, because I left the storage unit after the access hours.. Although I made it through the the gate during operating hours. It took about an hour to unload. Upon my exist, my access to leave was denied, fo security reasons I had to call a 800# for remote access to leave. That's fine. I get that for security reasons. It was the next morning by 9A, I received a text, email & call. Basically expressing their displeasure with me leaving the property after hours. to consider this a "courtesy warning", & to " be more respectful to other customers".. "after hour exists aren't allowed. I didn't appreciate the tonality, the call, text & email. It says the gate access is by 9p, not to be off the premises by 9p. To most understanding this means as long as you enter before 9, you will have access to your unit. Not exit by 9p. I've had storage units for years. I have always felt like I was hiring you to do a job. Not that you've hired me to do a job.. I'm a customer paying for a service, you want good reviews & business through word of mouth, stop doing that. It doesn't feel like we are an appreciated customer. read more

Safe, secure and excellent customer service.

They call you 3 times a week until you move in to set up a time to move in... then try to sell you over priced boxes and moving supplies even after you tell them no thanks ... then try to over sell you insurance that you can get cheaper else where and they manager he yells at you to say you only can have $5000 of stuff in your unit ... front main gate at office does not always work have to enter you code in at least twice after a 1 min wait time out period after each time you enter and that's if your lucky on ave you have to enter 3/4/5 times for gate to open ... they are worse then an ex girlfriend/ boyfriend ... car was compromised cuse I travel and when they cold call you to get you to update ... they don't say who they are or very shady about it ... this day with all the scam calls ... I am not going to give any personal info over the phone... if it was not for being so close I would not use public storage as they call you non stop... bunch of used car sales men!!! The facility is clean, but their protocols are sketchy. They were offering the first month for $1.00. I went in, put the room on a "HOLD". When I went back 3 days later to sign the paperwork, somehow the $1.00 deal was gone. Even though I HELD the room, and was told it would not be an issue. There was nothing the agent or the manager could do. Ridiculous. The manager suggested I go to another facility: "There's a $1.00 deal now available 8 miles down the road, at another Public Storage. Okay...not ideal, but at least it's a solution. I began driving there and decided it was too far for me to drive on a regular basis. I went back to the original facility to continue signing the papers and guess what, the same room 10 minutes later is now $10.00 more per month. LOL. You can't make this stuff up. SUMMARY: NO $1.00 deal, and rising rates in 10 minutes time. The other thing to be weary of is the air conditioned room which you pay extra for. If the interior storage room is near an exterior door, your air conditioned room isn't truly air conditioned. Just something to keep in mind. All interior storage rooms are not equal in terms of circulating air, so make sure, if you're paying for AC, you end up in a hallway with good circulation. Reminder, Florida is HOT and HUMID...if you have art, or something which should be at a certain temperature, make sure the room you rent has good air. Lastly, JP Morgan Chase Bank delivered my autopay late (the 6th of the month). Even though they could see I paid on time (the first of the month), I was charged $25.00 late fee because it didn't arrive until the 6th. Yes, I understand the check needs to be on time, but when problems happen, sometimes good customer service is to actually HELP your customer, rather than to be un-helpful. And a $25.00 late fee is ridiculous. Apparently, there's only a 6 day grace period for payments, not 10 day as is normal protocol. All my problems are a result of poor management and poor customer service. read more

There is never anyone in the front office. At one point, I needed help when I lost the keys to my unit and it took close to a month to get someone to cut the lock off. The ONE person in the county who could do it came and left without cutting it and told me to wait after the New Year (I specifically needed Christmas Decorations). I got my own locksmith. On numerous occasions I have had to drive to the Rockledge Public Storage to talk to someone in their office in order to set up payment (debit card expired and needed to change auto payments). Almost every time I have wanted to ask a question, the sign is up in the door saying someone will return. I have waited over an hour before sitting in my car waiting and watched someone appear from the back, update the clock on the door and disappear again. I think they try and make it look like a lunch break but just keep bumping it forward. I have a climate controlled unit and the AC is almost always broken. I finally waited long enough for the office person and told them and they simply said they knew and it would get fixed that month. In three years, I have only seen it working a handful of times. I have personally sprayed my unit with bug spray because I have seen German Roaches. A worker walked by once and I pointed them out and she said she would have the building sprayed but she had someone with her checking out a unit so not sure how sincere that was. The location is great, but that is really the only positive I can say. read more

Location and access perfect for my needs. Security appears excellent, and on-site manager very efficient and professional. (Had to call twice to get in contact with manager, even after leaving a message.) That said, process to obtain unit straightforward and quick. One plus, they provide a high security lock with the unit - you don't have to buy your own. Just obtained a second climate controlled unit - no issues with A/C yet. Would recommend this particular Public Storage branch to anyone. read more

It is very frustrating to try to move in large furniture while holding not one, not two but three different doors open. All the other buildings had door stops to make this easier. When I asked the person working about door stops he didn't really give me an answer he just kept walking. The gate to get in off of Suntree blvd has not worked in over three weeks, you can't make a U-turn off of Wickham at Suntree so with the gate not working properly you have to go down the road do a U-turn and come back. The whole move in process has been very frustrated, wishing I had gone to Life Storage now. read more

I would like to share with others about my recent visit to rent my new storage unit. I was very pleasantly greeted as if I were already an existing customer and proceeded to discuss my possibilities. I was then taken on a brief tour to look at a couple of units that were available and given a very good overview of all of the particulars to know about renting there ex: hours, security, cleanliness, insurance..., after viewing the units I found the right one for my needs. At that point we went back to the office after one other thoughtful coworker brought the golf cart to us to relieve our walk back and we filled out all paperwork necessary with much appreciation for my business all within a 30-40 minute time frame, I was a customer with my key in hand!! I have rented units in the past and I will say this experience with Linda and others working that day was most pleasurable and best customer service I have received. I highly recommend using them if you need to rent storage place and see for yourself!!! I do not often write reviews, but when you do have such a good experience you want to share with all!! I even got a call a week after and was asked if I had any questions, problems to give them a call. Again, great service!!! Public Storage should be very pleased with their employees professionalism and service as they are what drives the business for making customers wanting to do business with them verse other competitors. As a former Sales Representative, I appreciate more of great customer service and satisfaction. Only one problem....They only had one unit my size left to rent and I got it!!! "I wonder why!!!"
