Doesn't rate a star. Sign up and was told my storage unit price would never change! What thy don't explain to you is "they" can't change your price but the company itself comes in every 6 months and reevaluate its pricing chart. My storage unit has increased twice in over a year! I'm paying shy of a hundred dollars more for my unit!!! By the time they tell you your unit's payments will increase. Your within the 30 days mark and have to pay it!!!!! They don't allow you more then a 30days heads up! It's terrible! Also you think it's really climate controlled ?! False !!!! It's over 89 degree on the third floor. They lady working the desk can't even hang up her phone calls to speak with her customers. She allows her friends to stay on speaker phone when she tells you "someone already complained about the temperature it's being worked on". I am trying to get it of this unit as fast I can. DO NOT GO TO HAWTHORNE'S location or anyone of these locations. Company steal your money. Here we go again. Staff (female employee with red hair) called to insult me to tell me I stole her cart!!! I told her to check her cameras in the back and she hangs up on me!!! You call me at work to yell at me and you didn't check your own cameras? The next day I confronted the employee to be yelled at again by her! No apologize from her at all. Not only does this fake red headed employee be rude she also parks in the only handicap spot available. The employee has no handicap signs or stickers on car. read more

Public Storage - 90 degrees on the third floor. "Climate control ". Lies - Self Storage Near Me - Hawthorne, New Jersey

I have had at any given time upwards of 5-6 units with Public Storage. In the beginning they were great. Then all of a sudden they went down hill. I think it actually started after they flooded. That had major damage to their first floor many tenants lost their items. They must be trying to recoup the expense of that flood. I was down to my last 2 first floor 10x30 units. The rent for those started out in the 300 buck range and before you know it we're crossing the 600 buck range per Month! So I consolidated my things moved them upstairs to a 10x20 unit and was paying 270.83. I was paying this amount for exactly 4 months. Now all of a sudden this month rolls around and my credit card gets hit for 362.53. I mean a 90 buck increase in 4 months. Are they out of their minds? Based on that math within the year I'll end up with a 270 buck increase. It's highway robbery and absolutely deplorable business practice. I will be filing complaints with the better business bureau. If I were you I would find some place else to put your stuff a place where the rates to triple in a year. read more

Worst Storage experience I've ever had. Aside from misinformation and never getting to speak to a manager other than the person at the front desk claiming to be the manager but without any power to make things right, Know this before you rent; if you need an extra day or two to vacate you will pay the full month. No other storage facilities does that, all others pro-rate for the days you need to move out. Regardless of the rate you get you are likely to pay more at PS. Also ask them how many carts they have available. On weekends you will wait for carts to be available. Many other facilities in the area, call around before you rent here. read more

What a dump! Do not use this place. Water leaked onto my stuff and they did nothing for me. In fact I had to pay a unit transfer fee. The elevator was broken often. The air conditioner was broken for over a month during the summer. Left multiple voicemails and manager never returned my calls. Continued to raise my rent every few months. Overall lousy service. Couldn't wait to move out. Go elsewhere and save yourself the trouble. read more

Robin was absolutely fantastic! I was there for a short visit to pick up a handful of items. I had taken Uber to the facility, and wanted the driver to stay and wait for me to return me right back to where I am staying. He said he did not think he could do that, so in the parking lot, I called in to them to see if they could accommodate me. Turns out that they could not, so he was released and I went about my business. When I was done, I looked for my phone to call in another ride. Phone is missing! Now what? The first thing I thought of was that I left the phone in the back seat of his car. I went to Robin and pleaded for help. She did not hesitate. She allowed me to call Uber to see if they could contact the driver. "It could take a while". Great, now what? With Robin's help I gave them some contact information for me at the place I am staying, and also set up a ride home. By the way, she rolled up a chair for me to sit in while I was on hold and gave me coffee. I decided to go upstairs to my unit and grab my meager load of stuff, but asked Robin, "Could you please wait three or four minutes and call my number? Just to make sure I did not leave it in the unit." She did, several times and guess what? I think she was surprised and happy when I picked up the phone. What had happened was I carry it in my shirt pocket, and it had unbeknownst to me fallen out of my pocket into an open box when I was bending over. You cannot imagine my relief! Robin went way above and beyond and pulled my rear end out of a fire. She countered, "It's my job". She is absolutely excellent! read more

Avoid- Total Bait and Switch. You have all read about the horror stories of a moving company which loads your furniture on a truck only to change the price while they hold you hostage. Public Storage is the same type corrupt outfit. They quoted us a price of $196 a month for the unit. They send us a written confirmation of the details and price, call us the day before the move in and lo and behold while the vehicle is loaded for entry they inform us that the rate went up and it is now $216. I show the Manager the paperwork with the rate and she confirms she is totally powerless to do anything as although nothing is written on the confirmation print out about the rate change, Public Storage changes the rates daily according to her. The rate therefore is a scam unless you go the same day as you book it, the written confirmation is worthless and the Manager is powerless. Avoid these people at all costs. They have zero credibility and can't be trusted. You have been warned! read more

First time using storage for a move. Took over 1 hour to have the front desk person sign me in correctly. Before I even got there, I received a call saying that my unit was up for auction. I was on my way to start the rental! During my stay, one of the elevators was broken for over 3 weeks and the gate was broken a few days. Other than that the area is in a safe place and is easily accessible. They need better training for their front desk personnel. read more

I really felt very comfortable speaking with Shaqullia. She was great, it was a last minute move that i had to do because of the house fell threw I was so upset but i call the telephone number and spoke to a customer service rep and he told me to go to this facility my storage room would be ready, so when i get there the manager (don't remember her name) she says the unit i have reserved is not available but there are other units and she told Shaqullia to show it to me. Well let me tell you she made me feel at easy she was great and just over all sweet. She made sure she checked so i can have the closets one to the elevator. I tell you if it wasn't for her I was going to walk out of their Well thank you for having a great worker like her. read more

I made a reservation online and completed the lease in person as per the rules. Tony was the manager who signed me up. He was very thorough and very friendly. The facility is clean and well secured. There are cameras everywhere. You need your own personal special code to get in the building and to use the elevator. My only "negative" and its not really a negative, but when I spoke to a representative on the phone prior to my lease, they neglected to tell me that you are required to purchase insurance. It is just another added fee that was unexpected. Overall, I would highly recommend Public Storage in Hawthorne, NJ. read more
