Great customer service! You can tell they try to make it their forte. I recently moved and dealing with them was the only easy and effortless part. Told them up front I was only renting for a couple weeks and they hooked me up with a giant unit for $1 anyways. After fees, insurance, etc. it worked out to a little over $50. And when end of month they came, they made sure to call me a few times to make sure I got everything out before I'd run up additional fees for an additional month (which would've been the full rate). Belinda is absolutely amazing! She always keeps the property clean and is soo helpful and friendly! That said, public storage is a nightmare to rent from. The amount I pay to rent here has gone up twice since I moved in about a year ago, about $150 more than when I moved in, and the fees are insane! Online they listed my rent at $402. So that is what I paid. In just this month they have charged me 2 late fees over $100 each. 7 days into the month! They said it was because the database made a mistake and my rent was $140 more, but even though I paid what it said they refused to waive the fees. I spent days trying to get answers from corporate telemarketers in other countries. I didnt know my rent went up and I didnt pay enough to cover it and they fee-bombed me. This is a heartless corporation, not a mom and pop place, they will gouge you if they can and once I get caught up I plan to move out. read more

I asked my adult son to rent a unit because my Mom and dad died suddenly and I was overwhelmed and heartbroken. I needed a place to put ' keep' items and even boxes I just couldn't get through. I read reviews and Public Storage looked professional and reasonable. Until my son brought over the final truckload of items we needed stored. We had rented the truck for 24 hours; $75 + mileage, which was great. But when my son arrived that evening during business hours, he had no gate access. He called me. I called both phone numbers for the manager. Left messages. No answer. It was urgent because I live on a fixed budget, and to rent the truck again, brought our bill from $75 to $275. We finally gained access the next day, but that brought our truck rental price up. I don't understand what's happening because after paying over twice what we should have paid for the truck had Public Storage lived up to their end of the bargain, my son was there days later in the evening during open hours and the manager, the same women I had left copious messages for, came up and asked what he was doing there. She didn't believe that I existed, apparently and had mad delusions? I'm not quite sure, but I definitely do not recommend Public Storage in Bellingham Washington. read more

The first thing I want to say is this review is not against the local storage in Bellingham WA on McLeod, the people who work there are great! And have been nothing but helpful. I would like to put this out there so someone else can make a better decision than I was allowed to. One year ago this month I had some life changes that made me need emergency storage. I would not have chosen this space if they had told me my monthly rent would go up $109 in a year ($260/mo from $151). I called to see why, and they said those are the going rates and there is nothing they could do. Just an FYI for anyone trying to find a storage space. these guys are bad . they set you up for the last month they "GIVE " you the lock . but there is a reason they do it that way it's a set up. we got done with our unit and we moved everything out and cleaned it a week early. so you think in the back of your head it's their lock but that's where they get you. they charge you an extra month because "your " lock is still on the locker. They say we have to charge you because "your lock is still on the locker hahaha oh yeah cute! Then when you go to get "your " lock they say oh you have to pay first before you can get in and get "your" lock Now I have to pay another 289 dollars I am sure they have done this to many people It's a load of crap if I could give zero starts I totally would! I was FULLY ready to rent the unit I had reserved after speaking with a very nice manager on Tuesday and set a time for us to come see it and get it the next day (Wed 9/18) the employee that was there on Wed was NOT the same lady that I spoke with on Tuesday....We had arrived at the time of our appt and a plus sized brunette in uniform was locking up the office and putting a broom in her car and asked my husband if he was coming into the office. He told her yes and she was AWFUL!! She was downright RUDE!! She LITERALLY rolled her eyes and acted like we were BOTHERING her. I've had GREAT experiences with PS in the past so I was flabbergasted by how she acted. I am actually scrambling because I had fully planned on getting a unit there but now am looking elsewhere where someone can at least PRETEND I'm not a nuisance for absolutely no reason. First, the Customer service from the local folks working here has been fine. The issue lies in their predatory pricing scheme. They offer you a low price to start and then raise your rent. The contract says they can raise the rent any amount they like with 30 days notice. My rent has been raised several times (about 10% each time) in the few months I have been here. I've been renting 2 units at this location since November 2016. Everything is ok until I received my autopay notification in my email for April which shows an increase of $31 for the total of both of the units. I called for an explanation and was told that there has been a rent increase. Mind you, it has not even been 6 months yet. So I asked if they can raise their rent whenever they please and I was told, yes they can. So if you want to rent a storage where they can raise their price whenever they want especially after you have moved all your belongings into their unit then folks look no further, Public Storage in Bellingham is the place to be. Don't use Bellingham Public Storage unless you enjoy being scammed. They tax on so many hidden extra fees without any explanation or warning, they've increased the cost to rent our unit when we've had this unit for less than 3 months, and they gave us the wrong phone number when we needed to reach them to figure out why our rent increased. Also, when we first contacted them to purchase a unit, we told them when we would be available to meet in person to do the paperwork and pay. At first, they said they would hold the unit for us until the day we were available (which only would have made them wait 2 days to finalize it). Then 20 minutes later I got a phone call saying if we wanted the unit, we had to go in that afternoon to get it or we would have to buy a more expensive one if we chose to wait? No explanation for why or mention if there were other people looking to rent that specific unit. Also, the woman that spoke with me on phone was extremely rude and acted annoyed when I questioned why they weren't holding the unit for us anymore. Don't do what we did. We just needed a storage badly at the time and Public Storage was the only place that had available units. We should have saw the red flags from the beginning. More worth it to wait for a reliable company that actually cares about their customers. read more

We were in the process of moving, and the assistance received from my original on-site inquiries, to my online reservation, to finally moving into my chosen unit, was amazing. I was even notified before moving in about upcoming availabilities for sizes more appropriate for my needs (I actually wanted a smaller unit). Horrible place to do business with. When I first started renting my storage unit was about 45 bucks I believe it was. Then they require you to have insurance which wasn't a big deal but insurance was 20 bucks. Which seems excessive, now my monthly payment was just hiked up to 97 dollars a month which is ridiculous. A 30 dollar increase for absolutely no reason. There are so many hidden fees as well if you are late one day you are charged a 25 dollar late fee, your code is deactivated, and then there is also a "convenience" fee. Keep in mind this is only for a 5x5 unit. Storage unit isn't climate controlled and doesn't have a light either so what you get is not worth the steep price. Do not rent from these crooks. Needles to say I will be getting a different storage unit. read more

This storage facility offers a lot; great customer service, close to freeway exit from where ever you live in or near Bellingham, safe area, nice units that you can tell are looked after good. The people that run this facility live on site too and very friendly. I researched for the best price and history of how often storage facilities raise their prices. This place seemed to only raise price if necessary too. Many of the storage places throughout Bellingham are privately owned, not backed by a big company like pubic storage. That I liked too. Couldn't be easier to rent a storage space. Belinda is a professional and can guide you through the process in a snap. I signed up for a space online and met Belinda at the site next day. Even though I've used Public Storage at other locations in the past was very happy Belinda reminded me about protecting my items with plastic barrier in the storage locker. The entire rental process was completed in maybe 10 minutes. Then I used the pushcart conveniently located inside my building to load my stuff and wheel to my locker. In less than 20 minutes I had rented a locker, loaded my stuff into my locker, and out the gate. Slick. A pleasure to work with pros like Belinda. read more

I had a storage unit at this location for almost 2 years. Belinda is amazing and has great customer service. Whenever I went there, she was very friendly and it was nice knowing she knew her customers and cared about making sure the units are safe and secure. My unit was reasonably priced, clean, and when I need a smaller unit, they found one for me and the switch was easy. When I moved out, I caught Belinda after closing hours and she re-opened the office to check me out , pro-rated the month, and made sure I got some money reimbursed! The manager helped get something that was just the right size about two days before we needed it because she kept an eye on the units as they came open.
