I went here to heal from 10+ years of bicep tendonitis and knee pain. I've had four back/spine surgeries, starting at C3,4,5 and going on to L4,5,6. It seemed like every 5 years I was having back pain and every 5 years I was having surgery, the last surgery was right before covid19. My after surgery problem was posture. I was not able to hold my head up, stand straight nor walk without bending. It was like I was always looking for something, on the ground. They only had 27 Yelp reviews, but every one was 5 star -- nothing less. Now I know why. For one thing, they are patient-focused (not paperwork focused). Chris, the Dr. of Physical Therapy who works with me, is knowledgeable, friendly, and really listens to me when I describe what's going on with my body. Today was my last day for my physical therapy at the P/T Stop. I have taken twelve sessions at this facility. I really felt that this place was very professional in giving their treatments. Everytime I arrived here, they were ready for me. There was not lots of sitting around dead time. The staff were on top of all of my information regarding the number of sessions taken and the number that I had left. I have been to many therapy locations and was very unsatisfied with the service. I never knew how long that I would be there, what type of service I would get, and I was mostly dealing with an overworked staff. Dr. David has brought my knee back from the dead. I suffered an ACL complete tear in Jan 2020. A few months after I started with PT Stop. I opted out of surgery and wanted to see how far I could get with just physical therapy. I started 2 times a week, and now I am at once a week. Today more than a year later I did a follow up appointment with my Orthopedic and he is really impressed with how I am coming along and doesn't recommended any surgery. I owe a lot of that to Dr. David. He customizes each session to my needs and always listens to what abilities or therapy I feel my body wants to work on each week. He never pushes his agenda and always puts the patient first. Getting therapy from Dr. David has been like a master class on my body and the human form. With what I have learned I feel confident in my knee and have tools to correct my movements as to not cause strain or harm. Despite being a personal trainer for over 8 years there are technical and specific details in my body that I don't get a chance to check or notice (being used to it.) Maya used simple assessments; to know right away where my problems were and why they might be occurring. Assessments were followed with a corrective exercise to add to my regimen for fixing my habits and posture. I am so thankful I found Maya. I came in with horrific neck pain which was not improving with any of the exercises given to me by other physical therapists I've seen. I was to the point of not being able to sleep. I was referred to Maya by a friend who was sent by his ortho surgeon. She really helped him. So much. Maya is the first practitioner of any kind that I've seen who is taking into account an 30 year old injury that required fusion of my left ankle. This impacts how I walk and how I hold my body when I stand. Over the last 30 years everything has shifted to accommodate the fusion. Because of this I had started limping - the way my body balanced on my feet was creating all kinds of pain issues. A session with Maya for me includes an occipital release which provides almost immediate relief from the pressure and pain that builds up between visits, followed by learning new exercises to help my body shift how it holds itself and change my body mechanics. Every time we add exercises that build on what I had done before. Although we are going really slow I am really happy with my progress. I have stopped limping when I walk barefoot. I can now drive long distances in the car without developing pain. I can work at my desk all day without the extreme level of pain and exhaustion I was feeling before. Best of all I am having less migraine pain as my neck was a trigger before I started this treatment. You just have to do your exercises which sometimes can make you feel weird, or in my case, nauseous, which is the "threat message" Maya told me about. Breathing is a big part of the exercises I do with isolation of certain parts of my body - the threat messages mean that things are changing. Luckily once I've done it a few times that experience diminishes. This is not like other physical therapy I've had. I will probably go see Maya for the rest of my life because I feel so much better in my body with the system she uses. Highly recommend. read more

As a former athlete that's still active, I have a lot of lingering and new injuries. My psoas muscle had been plaguing me and caused severe back, knee and hip pain in the morning and throughout my day. I typically received massages and had to activate my psoas before and after workouts. This was a temporary fix but didn't solve the issue. The brilliant exercises and reprogramming I underwent significantly alleviated a lot of pain in my psoas. I heard about this office from a friend who said that saved his back after a terrible work accident. I looked at their website and decided to try it; and I'm very glad I did. Their approach and knowledge is so much better than your average PT clinic where they get 19 minutes to show you an exercise and then stick you on a workout machine. This is very attentive, hands on, and wholistic approach to health. I have tendinitis in my ankle and they had me look at my posture from top to bottom, in mirrors and pictures, to really see what the whole problem was. They have been teaching me basically how to walk and stand again, and how to breathe through it. The exercises and expectations on my practicing them are reasonable and realistic, and the massage work on my foot and ankle has felt great. They have made such a positive world of difference in just a month or two. I went from limping every step and in a constant, low level of pain to being able to walk short distances again, with only some pain during the day. I can see the difference in my posture and can make eye adjustments they recommended easily. I look forward to my sessions. The free parking in Koreatown is helpful, too. So, I woke up one day and went to the gym for leg day. I had to end my workout early because of right know pain. At the time I would just work around the pain and try different workouts to attempt to correct the problem, everything I did for my knee did not help. I met Mayami, and she told me the issue and what I should do to correct it. After 6 weeks my knee feels a lot better and can squat lower than before with less pain. Now I can advance my workouts to further help my knee get better; I also feel less pain now. I recommend Mayami to everyone I know. read more

Maya is a miracle worker! I've visited countless Doctors and they couldn't determine what the causes were. I was literally running out of viable options, and becoming desperate. I am a pretty active person. I play hockey several times a week, I'm a drummer (playing for up to 6 hours a day), I ride motorcycles, roller blade, shoot guns, etc... and I started having pain in my knees, hips, shoulders, and elbows. Mayami is a phenomenally attentive physical therapist who is genuinely focused on ensuring the best possible outcome. I was referred to her by Dr. Yung Han who completed a bankart repair for a near complete labral tear with associated hill sachs lesion on my left shoulder. My surgery required 9 anchors. Mayami indicated that this was above and beyond normal, and that I should be cautious in my expectations for recovery timing. Three months after I started physical therapy with Mayami, I have full range of my shoulder back, and am still happily working with her to build up the strength of my shoulder. I was told that at the very earliest I could expect to have full range back by three months. Excellent result. Mayami is also very accessible should you have any questions or concerns, and she is very gifted at explaining how to do each and every exercise. She also doesn't shy away from telling you if you've disappointed her by doing something you shouldn't have.
