I was injured in an auto accident in the beginning of August. Immediately upon impact I had severe…read morepain in my lower back. I had an MRI at Saint Lukes and was sent to the Saint Lukes spine clinic. They had me start at their pain clinic side first. After being evaluated, they set me up with physical therapy. After a couple of weeks of physical therapy, my therapist suggested I also see a chiropractor. The chiropractor received a copy of the MRI and the included report. I was surprised when he told me that the report showed that I had a buckled ligament in my lower back. The chiropractor has been performing adjustments and decompression of my spine to hopefully get the ligament to return to its correct state. After two months of physical therapy and chiropractic treatments, it was time for my followup at the spine clinic. I informed her that most of the radiating pain and the sciatic pain had subsided with the therapy but the pain in the center lower back was still constant and worsens with activity. She told me it is from arthritis. I asked her about the buckled ligament and she ignored me and started to talk about shots in my spine and nerve ablation.(burning the ends of the nerves to stop the pain.) I told her that I did not have that pain before the accident and that I was able to work normally and lift heavy things before the accident. I told her I want to find out about the buckled ligament and any other damage and get it fixed. She then told me that when a professional says I need physical therapy, that I need to be doing it. I told her that I did do physical therapy and I was still doing it. I also told her about the amount of money that I spent on equipment so that I am able to continue doing physical therapy at home as well as at my appointments. My physical therapist is very happy with my work but is concerned with the pain in the center of my lower back. How is arthritis going to all of a sudden pop up in this one segment of my spine and cause this pain that started right at impact? Do they not even review there own test results and reports?

If you don't think you are in need of one - but are feeling off or in pain - I still suggest you meet Melinda. I felt that she gave the very best attention that anyone could offer. I was in pain, so I know that my tolerance level for anything less than excellent was at an all time low. I was not going to take kindly to anything other than a nurturing, knowledgeable, and thorough person helping me. I got just that. I left the space feeling not only better, with some areas that must have been pinching nerves completely released. But I also left with information on how to proceed going forward. She took the time to offer many helpful suggestions that I have put into play. I really did feel that I got individualized attention to detail, and that Dr. Melinda was going to get to the bottom of things. I felt very comfortable even when meeting her for the first time, and will definitely go back if the need arises. Freeling Chiropractic offers more than just adjustments. You can contact them about any of your wellness needs. I owe Melinda big time for getting me back into mobile shape right before a trip to Portland. If I had not seen her, my guess is that I would have been laid up on our vacation.

In June of last year I was referred to Dr Maeda's office by my primary care doctor. I had an…read moreextremely swollen, red, painful foot and my doctor suspected a fracture. I was able to get into his office immediately, but xrays could not confirm the break. Dr Maeda said that was common with hairline fractures and suggested conservative care, icing and elevating and that I come back for more xrays once the swelling went down. After weeks of this scenario repeating itself, no fracture was ever confirmed. Then my foot injury developed into something else - a blistered, giant, red, angry, painful abscess. It was so alarming that I saw a third doctor when both Dr Maeda and my primary care Dr were unavailable to see me immediately. However, I saw him the next day. He scheduled me for surgery the same week, this being the beginning of August. That was terrifying to me really. Surgery? But I wanted my foot healed and he said that would happen by cleaning out the abscess. He did that and sent samples to the lab to be tested. I saw Dr. Maeda constantly for follow-up care until October. Then I was released, although the wound was still open and draining. In December, I went back because the foot was still open and draining. I was told that it looked fine, everything looked normal, it was just healing slowly. In January, after the foot flared up again and appeared to be infected once again, I visited a new doctor at a different hospital. His xrays immediately confirmed that there had been a break originally. He scheduled me for an MRI and further testing. I hope to finally have an answer to what is going on, now that I've left Dr Maeda's care. It's been 9 months. My foot is still open and draining. I will never go back to Dr Maeda and do not recommend him, although his staff was very nice and attentive. Lesson learned - get a second opinion, or a third or a fourth if you need it.
