I had a third L4-L5 disc replacement, and then told me that he was leaving for 5 days with his family, and left a PA in charge. I told her every day for 5 days in the hospital that I had severe pain, different from prior surgeries, from my left hip to knee to the inside of my left lower leg. She rolled her eyes each time and told me to push the button (for pain meds.) When Dr Mather returned and saw I hadn't eaten or slept, and was in such severe pain, he did a CT scan and at the end of his day, at 10:30 pm, he took me back to surgery. After recovery, he said, "I removed a cherry pit sized piece of disc material that I inadvertently left behind." He said it could be 2-3 months before the very irritated L4 root nerve would calm down. He kept raising my dose of pain meds as I went to follow up appointments. After 4 months, he switched me to Oxycontin because he couldn't raise the Norco dose any higher due to too much acetaminophen. He said, "In some cases like yours, the root nerve never recovers, and I'm afraid that's what happened here." I became disabled for life, I lost my beloved nursing job, and could barely do anything that I previously loved to do. He referred me to a pain clinic. I went back periodically for Dr Mather to sign for a disabled car plaquard, and the last time, he yelled at me, "I will not sign this! I did no such thing! You are no longer my patient! SECURITY! Escort this person out of my office!!" Be very careful if anything goes wrong! The only reason I didn't bring suit is I lost my 22 year old son 2 months after surgery; 2 months before being told I was disabled for life. Otherwise, it would have been an easy win. People make mistakes, but when he kicked me out of his office, and denied it all happened, that made me sick. I continue to have complications now, years later. If I could give ZERO STARS, I would.

I came in for a moving injury on my shoulder a while back. He did an x-ray at his location and said that it didn't seem like there was a tear, maybe just less cushion between my joints. He decided to schedule MRI as "an abundance of caution". However, He didn't recommend a basic MRI, he recommended an arthrogram which in hind sight, seemed unnecessary. He recommended a local hospital as is preferred partner, and it was awful. The MRI cost me $700 and took about three hours versus a outpatient Quest Diagnostic type location that should've been 100 bucks and an hour. I never received the MRI results from the hospital. I recently received a bill from Dr. Mody's office for another $200 for my initial visit. I have yet to return to even go through the MRI results, partially because I don't have them (thanks Advent La Grange for wasting more time I don't have) and partially because this seems like a bill at all costs type practice. I refuse to go back if it's going to cost me $200 when any other specialist under our health plan is a $50 copay. Note- I gave them my insurance upfront so this shouldn't be a $200 + $600 MRI for a sore arm.

First Dr. Kurt gave me acupuncture a couple times. Then he recommended dry needling. Dr. Kurt fully informed me of what to expect with the dry needling (I'd feel the needle but would not be painful, the needle would cause the muscle to spasm and then relax). After going a few months, once per week for dry needling my issue significantly decreased. Not only is Dr. Kurt very professional and knowledgeable, but he also treated me with extreme respect. He knew I was nervous, and he spent whatever time was needed to answer my many questions. Also, Dr. Kurt was different than the neurologist and orthopedic doctors I've seen. Dr. Kurt actually wanted to help me get to the root cause of my issue. He asked me questions that no other doctor asked, such as how my stress level and stress triggers are. Dr. Kurt offered suggestions on how I could seek out and research the affects that stress has on the nerve and muscle systems. I am extremely glad that I went to Dr. Kurt for chiropractic treatments. Not only did he provide excellent treatment, but he guided me to information that helped me learn how to improve my health condition. I highly recommend Dr. Kurt Brewer for chiropractic needs, especially acupuncture and dry needling.

I was just sick with pain, and after 3…read moredays of not being able to get into the surgeons office, I called Dr. Dan on a desperate whim (He has a location in the building where I receive other treatments). Within 5 minutes, he called and had me immediately come to his office. I arrived in his office weeping unabashedly, partly from pain, and partly from fear of another back surgery. The surgeon had warned me that another reherniation could result in a fusion surgery. Dr. Dan spent nearly 2 hours with me that day. There was no miracle or quick fix, and I left weeping as well, but I did have a glimmer of hope. By the time I was able to get new MRI's and see the surgeon, I was still in writhing pain and had a completely numb foot and leg. The surgeon was skeptical I could avoid surgery, but said he'd encourage non-surgical treatment for six weeks. (Because the nerve was damaged, the longer you wait the less likely it is for the nerve to recover). In those 6 weeks, I saw Dr. Dan two or three times a week. It was a roller coaster of emotion and physical pain. Dr. Dan was so compassionate and consistently optimistic that we could avoid surgery...even when I wasn't so sure. About 4-5 weeks in, we had a breakthrough....I could move my toe! Things really turned a corner, and I was more and more mobile. At the six week follow up with my back surgeon, he was very impressed with my progress and said that if he did surgery, he couldn't guarantee any more improvement than I had already made without surgery. I continue to see Dr. Dan about once a week, there have been a few setbacks, but progress is consistent. I feel that Dr. Dan genuinely cares about how I feel, listens to my goals, and encourages me in my overall wellness. There is no doubt in my mind that if I had not made that call, or if my surgeon was able to see me sooner, I would have had another back surgery, more than likely a spinal fusion surgery.

They not only provide excellent treatment to you, but they can also support you with merchandise that will help you practice your exercises at home so that you can progress faster. The office staff is also at the top of their game. They are friendly and helpful. Did I mention that they also have a sense of humor? When you walk in you are greeted with a smile and you know that people are happy to be there. Well, the staff is happy to be there. If you are going in for a massage, you are also probably happy to be there. I know I am! However, if you are there for physical therapy, you may feel hesitant and dread going, because you know that the "physical terrorist" will put you through the paces. I have been there. They know what they're doing and you will progress in logical increments according to your level of competence. They are also very good at listening to you and are respectful of your privacy as well as your feelings. They have posted exercises and suggestions for everyday activities as well as classes, like yoga. They also have promotions throughout the year for products and massages.
