The owner/operator, has refused to refund class packages to several clients, including me. Refunds were requested because, without warning, he eliminated about 30% of Psycle's classes. Consequently, there are no scheduled classes when I am available. His refund policy is not stated and is arbitrary. Stay clear. read more

I love this place. Love it. The Psycle experience is unlike any workout that I've ever attempted. It's spinning on steroids and it's amazing. The instructor teaches class from a lit platform and the student bikes are arranged stadium style on risers. Coupled with black lights and four corners worth of speakers, you'll feel more like you're in a dance club than a gym. The music selection varies by instructor and refuses to disappoint! I've heard remixes in this class that had me up all night searching the Internet! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and somehow managed to remember my name by my second visit. Now if that doesn't make you feel welcome, I don't know what does. They also provide complimentary bottles of water at the start of each class. Nice touch. If you're like me and you have a hard time self-motivating, Psycle is the answer. The workout is hard (you will leave drenched in sweat) but the format is delivered in such a motivational way that you'll end up surprising yourself. At this point, I've only tried the spinning classes but they also offer aerobic-style classes like Kettle Bell and TRX. I plan on signing up for both. For the first time in my life, I actually look forward to working out. I really can't say enough good things about this place and the dedicated staff members that figured out how to make fitness both challenging and fun. read more

I was in town for Thanksgiving and wanted to get a pre-Turkey dinner workout so I found this studio and signed up. I've taken well over 500 spin classes and didn't think there was such a thing as a bad spin class, but I was wrong. Everything about this experience was bad. First when I walked in there was nobody at the desk to greet me and give me instruction on what to do. When I went into the class there was nobody (not even the instructor) who offered to help set-up bikes which usually they do. I needed help because the handlebar screw wouldn't tighten and I was nervous during the workout this would be an issue, and it did become one. The instructor finally came over during class and fixed it once it completely fell down. Usually spin instructors provide motivation and direction during the class and you can look to them for guidance for what to do. This instructor would just yell out things at the beginning of a song (i.e.- Sprint 2 minutes, tap backs 1 minute) it was extremely hard to follow. I love spin classes because I can zone out during them but this was not like that. I felt so on guard and looking around the room the whole time. It was such a choppy workout that had no good flow to it. The instructor was hardly on the bike, which is fine if you're walking around and providing motivation but he would just drop on the ground and do his own pushups or he would yell at people in a way that was mean and not motivational. The weights song was do it yourself so there was no guidance on this. I just can't believe how bad this workout was. I would never ever go back here again. read more

I have spent considerable amounts of time traveling for work in New York, Miami, LA, Chicago, and London. Classes in this studio are among the best that I have experienced across the world. The energy and instruction in the workout is simply unmatched. The motivation from Tom and Jill is authentic. I talk about this gym at home in New York -- SoulCycle just can't match it. read more

I've taken lots of spin classes and this one ranks at the bottom.I took Tom's class recently. He's never on the bike, but dances around the room doing bizarre things like looking at himself in the mirror and waving things around, tapping riders with light various toys that he has. The class is disjointed and I never had any idea what we were doing. He just screams incoherent instructions but doesn't use a microphone so I had no idea what he was saying. Everyone in the class does something different. No one is on the beat of the music. It's a hot mess. They do weights, but everyone does something different. The facility is run down and dirty. One of the toilets doesn't flush and the towels are full of holes. My bike was impossible to adjust, like it was rusted in place, and squeaked and rattled through the whole class. This place is a definite no. Don't waste your money. read more

My friend and I came here for the first time this morning and loved it! Great music, fast paced, and happy people!

I bought a groupon for Psycle because while I am fairly active doing Crossfit, I need some harder cardio to help lose some weight for an upcoming vacation. Having cycled before, I had been reluctant to go back to a typical gym for spinning. For $65 I got 10 classes (which is a STEAL) and upon emailing the owner, he told me the first class was free. Awesome, because I want all the help I can get if you know what I mean. I arrived to class in time to get shoes (normally $2 to rent, but it was my first class so they were complimentary), use the restrooms, and take in the atmosphere. There were people there of all ability levels. Not overly friendly, but nice nonetheless. They give you towels and a bottle of water for class. There are complimentary lockers and showers if you need them. The classes get full, so you have to reserve online. I think part of that is because of the Groupon special as I overhead a regular in class talking about a lot of new faces. The room is dark and the bikes are set up in a stadium style which I really liked. The bikes are nice but do not track mileage like some of the new Spinning (brand) bikes. I believe theirs are Schwinn. Still, nice bikes. Class was HARD. Just as I remember spinning and probably should bring extra water because you will sweat. The instructor that I had played really good music but it was so loud it was hard to hear the cues. Coupled with the darkly lit room, it was a challenge to see which position they were in. In all, I enjoyed my experience and I realize some of the oddities are a result of the influx of new people because of the Groupon. I am looking forward to returning and experiencing some of the other instructors as well. read more

Very welcoming employees. This was my first time going using class pass and they were very helpful! Very encouraging of doing the best YOU can do and not comparing to others. Clean studio and good music! read more

This is a great place for spinning. I was a newbie and felt very welcome, and it was easy to catch on. There are all ages and sizes here. The the owner and teacher, Tom is terrific and so are all of the other instructors, every teacher brings their own style to the class. The technology used to book classes, buy passes and check in makes things very easy. Tom is very generous and classy by having towels, fruit, energy bars and coffee out in the lobby to help yourself to, and people do not seem to abuse it. There used to be free water, but so much plastic.....it was a good that he changed to refillable water bottles. There are showers and bathrooms and lockers. The space is a little tight overall, this is not a big fancy gym like Oxford - so just don't expect that, but for what it is you'll get a great workout and have fun. read more

This is the only truly good spin anywhere in Pittsburgh. Only problem is, it's not actually in Pittsburgh. Please, please, please open a studio in Shadyside, or somewhere closer. read more

Great bikes and instructors. My only complaint is that the music is too loud and it's too expensive. Every time I turned around I was spending a couple hundred dollars. read more

Whether you're new to spinning or a diehard, this place is packed with good energy & vibe! All the instructors are great! A must go see & do! read more

It's refreshing for the Pittsburgh area to have Psycle. Intense spinning that is safe but doesn't adhere to the cookie cutter franchise mold. Also TRX and cross training. Instructors are enthusiastic and intense. Prices have creeped up but the price point is not so high as to deter significant numbers. Drawback are locker rooms and shower facilities, but then this isn't intended to be a full service health club. Tom, the owner, is on to something with this success. read more

I have never written a yelp review before, but our fantastic experience at Psycle has to be noted. My family visited the area for Thanksgiving. We wanted a place to get some exercise during the visit and found Psycle through an online search. We (me and my four kids, aged 14-21) were able to attend four classes over the break. This place is beyond great! The people who run and teach (Tom, Andrea and Jill) are accommodating, personable, energetic and knowledgeable. The whole vibe of the place is welcoming and friendly. And this goes for the the members too. Several introduced themselves and one member went out of his way to help get my younger girls get set up on the bikes. All four days it was the same: very friendly and enthused instructors and challenging workouts. The gym has many regulars who work out very hard. Very motivating. I just cannot say enough good things about Psycle. I have been to spin classes across the country and to at least 10 places in San Diego. Psycle towers over the rest. read more
