I really wanted to like this company, but the person they sent for the job we had (mostly touch ups across our house) was more of an artist, but not in a positive way. We have certain colors that are very similar, and we were clear on which paints to use on the outside or inside, but the painter was not very careful. He mixed up the colors and overall did a mediocre job. He even cleaned his brushes in our guest path and scratched our sink up pretty badly. We were in dire need for a couple of accent walls. It was really hard finding a reasonable price for painting two accent walls especially how one of my walls is from a high vaulted ceiling. We were able to work with Rudy and he gave us a reasonable and fair price. We provided the paint as we like to color match in case we need to touch up. What's awesome is that he allowed this. Usually contractors don't allow you to bring your own paint as they have special points from Sherwin Williams or Dunn Edwards. We got the Behr Ultra Paint. For those that don't know, Behr Ultra contains no highly volatile organic material, which is breathed in has been known as a possible carcinogen and toxin. Behr Ultra is more expensive but its quality is impeccable and you don't need more than two coats to fully bring out the color in your wall! Anyways, the contractor from Rudy's team, came in at 9 ad left at 12. He taped everything up and ensured that nothing was missed. He went straight to work, no chit chat, and left. It was a great interaction. We didn't have to supervise or coax him to do his work and that's a huge plus because in the past when we remodeled our home, we had to push our contractors to work on it while they were in the house. We originally called PSS Painting and Drywall for 1 smaller project in our home. Rudy came right out and gave a very reasonable quote. He paid attention to detail and remembered even the small things. We then were looking for quotes for our flooring and found out he can do that as well. Rudy answered the phone in the first ring and from hello, absolute professionalism from start to finish! Rudy came out the next day to put together a quote and we scheduled for the next week. The day before the work was to be done, Rudy checked in and asked if they could start at 6 am. That was perfect for us. He knew we were in the process of moving in and wanted to get in and out so his crew would not be in the way of moving furniture. Armando and Lidia showed up at 10 minutes to 6 the day of the job along with Rudy so we could review what was to be done. After that they got started right away and had 1 room finished by mid afternoon and the second larger room framed out and ready to finish the next day. They were done by 2 pm the 2nd day and this even included a ceiling dry wall repair. Not a single drop of spilled paint, not even on the drop cloths they brought with them and disposed and cleaned up all trash. Jay did the dry wall work and he is a pretty funny guy as we chatted a bit as he worked. The crew was efficient in time usage and extremely polite. It's unfortunate for this company that I am writing this 1 star because it comes from a "customer" who can't speak on his job duty performance, but rather comes from a could-have-been customer that he missed out on. I initially had some light back and forth with this company just trying to speak with them on the phone. Once I finally spoke to Rudy, I felt good about my choice in a potential painter. We planned the inspection date for today and time for 1pm. I specifically told him that if he wasn't able to make it, to give me advance notice. I hate to say it, but it's the nature of the business for painters and construction workers to no call no show. It's so frustrating as a customer. He agreed that he would give advance notice if he couldn't make it. Well... today's the day! But low and behold... no call and no show. We were communicating on yelp and phone. I messaged earlier today to confirm the appointment and did not receive a reply (which would have been fine if he would have showed up). But at 1:05 he wasn't here and I called and left a message. It's not 6pm and being that I didn't hear from them, I decided to review my brief experience for you fellow yelpers. I'd like to tell you how extremely frustrating it is for homeowners to plan something and take time out of their day to make arrangements with a business for services they really want and we aren't given the decency of even a call to say "sorry I can't make it, can we reschedule?" I'm glad that I chose PSS for my project. I received my initial appointment quickly and Rudy sent me an estimate via email shortly after that appointment. Rudy also sent me the information I needed to submit my project for HOA approval. After receiving HOA approval, PSS accommodated my scheduling requests -- I wanted days that would work for my neighbors since I have a shared wall. Rudy, Julio, and their team started the project early and made sure that everything was taken care of including power washing, stucco repairs, weep screed replacement, drywall repairs and exterior painting. They even replaced my house numbers (which were original from the 1980s and falling apart), painted my gate, and repaired an interior wall. Although the contractor showed up to my home within the scheduled time, he has yet to send a quote. He was polite but I mistakingly double booked contractors and his mood seemed to slightly change after seeing the other company show up. The other company was ok with the situation and began taking measurements independently. I stayed with PSS because they arrived first and I told the other company that I would get to them as soon as I could. I stayed with the tech from PSS out of courtesy although he didn't seem as knowledgeable as the other company. He didn't bring measurement tools, just took down notes in his notebook. I'm not sure if he was intimidated by the size of the job, which is a two story 2750 sqft unoccupied interior home or the sight of me getting another quote. Maybe it could be something else but he didn't express it to me. He only expressed that the other company might be able to get to the job before he could. I asked him when he could start but he wouldn't tell me or give an approximate timeframe. I was giving him my undivided attention because he was there first but that almost cost me dealings with a more professional company. That company had a way better energy and seemed a lot more knowledgeable of their craft. That company left me with a full folder containing their business license, insurance information, and loads more information, plus an immediate itemized quote. PSS on the other hand told me that I would receive a quote the same day and it has been multiple days since the measurements were taken with no quote. He also didn't leave me with any information about the company. I told the tech from PSS that I would like my job done ASAP but I didn't pressure him with a date because I don't need to move in for several weeks. I would have loved if the contractor had followed up on his word with sending the quotes or at the very least expressed to me that he didn't want the job instead of wasting my time waiting for him. PSS May very well do great work but I will never know. I hope that this will be a learning opportunity for them to follow up with all of their customers and project honesty, experience, and never shy away from the competitors. I'm giving a star for the good phone customer service, the second star is for being punctual. No other stars were earned.
