STAY AWAY from Karen and her daycare. We moved into the…read moreneighborhood and visited her daycare for our 18month old little girl. It was close convenient and she seemed sweet and to care for kids. The first days were rocky, she was unable to tell us if and when she napped, what she ate, but we thought that she needed some time to adjust, going from having 2 kids to care for to 3. One day she forgot to give her water..during the whole day. I told her that could not happen again, my poor daughter asked me to drink as soon as she saw me. Unfortunately that happened again... we were starting to loose faith. Her house had almost no toys since she had paused because of covid and so we donated a ton of toys to her for the kids to play with. So we looked past the unwelcoming environment, the forgetfulness of Karen but this was nothing compared to what was to come. One Friday, I pick up my daughter and see all of her belongings and the toys that we donated on the front porch. Karen opens the door and tell me that she is stopping, she has financial problems and can no longer do the business... we found out that the other families had left her that week and we were the last standing. She left us no notice, had to look for a turnaround solution and had to take 2 weeks unpaid leave to stay with her awaiting for an opening at a daycare. Boy do we regret choosing her, she is unfit to do this, her glory days are LONG GONE. The kids looked miserable and I am pretty sure that she did nothing with them all day. So unprofessional we are going to report her so that she looses her license and does not hurt anyone else or put families in difficult situations.

Let me preface this by stating I don't have a child who goes here, so I can't speak to the overall…read moreexperience. However, I get coffee from Radio Roasters often. Their small outdoor space faces the coffee shop so I see the kids and teachers outside often. The teachers are almost always on their phones. Recently I saw a toddler crying, trying to get the teacher's attention. She did finally get off her phone but I didn't see her tending to the child up to the point I walked inside the coffee shop. When I came back out the lady looked my way, but she still stayed on her phone all the while I got into the car to leave. I will say the other two teachers were appearing to interact with some of the other children, but the other lady couldn't look away from her phone. As I stated, often both teachers are glued to their phones every time I come. Was surprised this was a Reggio Emilia school, as what I've observed doesn't fall in line with its philosophy. If this were just a daycare I guess it wouldn't bother me as much since these specialized early childhood schools often command a much higher cost to parents. The expectation is the children get the benefits of experienced, dedicated teachers, not just whomever they can get as is the case in most daycares. As the mom of a toddler, I was especially bothered seeing the la k of response to the children crying. I'm grateful that we have been able to avoid daycare up to this point since these are my exact concerns with these places. The owners/directors should definitely try to implement some rules around phones, so caretakers will be more engaged, since we all know everyone is addicted to their phone. This is a reasonable request for most jobs, particularly when your job is to be present and responsive to young learners. Ok, stepping off my soapbox now.

Well, actually…read morewith all the daycare centers literally every you turn, you would think that would be the case. However, finding a center which has been around for a while with low staff turn over is almost impossible. Now try finding a center where the staff has stuck around for 20 years. Unheard of right? Ok now try finding a center with those 3 criteria plus each staff member is warm hearted, and loving and patient and loves children. That is the sunshine house ran by Miss. Regina. My son attended when he was 2 till he turned 3. I am so thankful that we got to experience this daycare and all the wonderful staff members. The center is busy but never chaotic. All the kids are always in a state of ease because the teachers are ALWAYS at ease. My son started off in Miss. Jocelyn's class. She is warm and experienced and loves kids and the kids love her! This was not daycare, it was more like my son's second home. My son would tell me daily as soon as we got home "I wanna go school. I wanna see Miss. Jocelyn." It made my heart soar to know he loved his school and teacher. Shout out to Miss. Shelly who keeps the kids fed. Breakfast always smelled delicious when I dropped him off in the morning. And Miss. Stacy for being an early riser in order to care for the 6:30 drop offs. And Miss. Nita for encouraging my baby to be independent. Everytime I picked him up and his shorts were on backwards or his shoes were on the wrong foot, I knew he was encouraged to dress homself. Special thank you to the director Miss. Regina, who accommodated us in so many ways and did so with a warm smile and kind words . And a very special thank you to Miss. Jocelyn, who is grandma to every little boy and girl in this amazing center. We will miss you dearly .

Ms. Beverly and Ms. Monica are the most AMAZING teachers I have ever met. They have such patience working with 3 year old kids.
