Injuries my daughter came home with from daycare that no one told us about.
    Vidhi S.

It is telling that none of the reviews for this daycare are from 2021 or 2022. We placed our daughter here for about a month in October 2022 and then finally had to remove her. Her daily reports often contained incorrect information (like she was given a school lunch -- which contains meat -- when we pack her lunch because she is vegetarian), and we struggled to find anyone to communicate with us about how our daughter did each day. There was usually a new caretaker or teacher in her classroom every time I went to pick her up. The most concerning thing, however, was our daughter was sent home with swelling, redness, and bruising around her diaper and no one alerted us to what had happened (photos below). When we emailed with our concerns, we were told they would look into it, but no one ever got back to us. We were told repeatedly that the care and communication would improve, but it did not. I would not recommend this location.

Every day the Camp Scene bus (15 passenger vehicle) travels to different locations so that the kids experience the outdoors with an emphasis on environmental education. The camp director/owner Mr. Seitz is a middle school teacher. All staff members are certified teachers with first aid training. Last week my daughter attended their first week of camp. Among other events, she went canoeing, kayaking, rock-climbing and adventure swimming. She came home excited every day about the science lessons and gained a new interest in preserving the environment. In addition, she overcame a long-standing fear of being out on open water. This camp is a sure winner! I don't know if they are adding extra weeks this summer, but I know they are planning sessions all summer next year.

It is very expensive but there are day trips on busses and very well qualified staff to compensate so it seems worth the cost to me - even if I can only do one per summer. Four stars because they really are pretty unresponsive to emails, phone messages, etc. when you are in the registration process. I had a similar experience to another reviewer but I persisted because we had already experienced the camp. If you can get registered through the website without looking at waitlists, etc., you should be fine. If you actually need to speak to a human before you drop your kid off the first day, you might want to forget about it.

Even though I still have my LA Fitness Membership, I joined here about a year ago due to proximity to work and the ease of getting a workout in before or after work. I'm now glad I did that because I use their nationwide membership for working out of town. Unique features: - Second floor has all their treadmills facing towards the interestingly designed windows - New cardio equipment throughout the top floor - Peloton bikes Things you might not like: - Second floor free weight area can feel cramped, even when it's not busy - Parking lot can be a bit hectic during busy times but they have ample parking This location offers up older adult programming and Parkinson's classes. They also have a cool kids area for parents that need to get a workout in and have their child in tow. Costs will be more than your average gym but they have a wide variety of options available.

After touring SoulShine, a virtual group tour, we were not impressed and felt that prospective families should know about the schools structure before applying. This group of facilities does not operate to the level of a preschool and instead would be better reflected as a nature based daycare. The director who toured us was over the Kirkwood location but we saw photos of all three facilities. The rooms were well furnished but the curriculum in each space was greatly lacking with a student-led approach focusing on centers rather than a structured teaching day. We did not hear about the daily curriculum or milestone tracking for our students development. The tours involvement of curriculum seemed to be focused on what they had in each space (toys, playgrounds, book corner) rather than the learning. We were immediately put off at viewing the Kirkwood location when shown that the infant room opens directly to the outside of the building. While I am sure there are safety precautions in place there is not a way that I could feel comfortable as a parent knowing my newborn could potentially be interacting with strangers that approach the building. We will not be applying to this or any of the SoulShine locations and feel it is a overpriced daycare option and severly lacking preschool option.

I found the Summer Class for the little kids (5 years old) to be reasonable and luckily in my time schedule. Monday's at 4 and Saturday mornings. The coach is so good and he really encourages my daughter. She's 5 so I don't know if she'll be good or not ... but it's definitely great to get outdoors and introduce her and I to something new. The max capacity for the class is 8 people, so you have to make your reservation early - this is easy enough to do on their website. They also offer round robin tournaments and other organized pickleball activities. My only gripe is that it's not easy to reserve a pickleball court if you just feel like playing on your own. Sometimes, when the weather is nice, we feel like going out for some impromptu pickleball and don't feel like competing. Still looking for places in DeKalb where we can easily reserve a court and do our own thing. I believe you can call to check availability and reserve, though.

We turned right off the bumpy road that led us there and noticed their sizable parking lot. We found a spot quickly, snapped a couple of pictures and entered. There was really no direction or guidance when we got inside so we were hovering around for a few minutes. Then I noticed a check in desk at the far end. There was a couple ahead of us so we waited for a few seconds and then approached the counter. We advised that we were scheduled for the 5 PM class. The staff checked us in, pointed us in the right direction, and also informed us that we could roam around and check out their gallery before our class started, since we were a little early. I would say initially there were a bunch of people milling around. I was not sure if they were staff members or other patrons, but we did not initially get a very welcoming feel. Not a lot of eye contact or warm smiles. We roamed around checking the gallery until our class started. We approached the training area as it got close to our scheduled start time. Our instructor. Zoe greeted us warmly and told us she would get things started soon. Before class, she conducted an official tour that led us around the whole property. She clearly explained how the whole process would flow. Then she did a full demo before we even started. She led us through the process, and we were able to create three different creations, but she let us know that we were only able to keep two. Zoe was a star; very informative, patient and knowledgeable about the whole process. She expertly stepped in and helped us whenever we had questions. We washed up, picked out final colors for our creations and checked out. She advised that it would take 6 to 8 weeks for the whole creation to be baked and ready for pick up. For some reason, I thought we would be able to take our creations with us that day. Overall, we really enjoyed our first time at Mudfire.
