To make a long story short, this is the type of experience you don't want to regret missing out on. I had gone into the Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy combo class with my instructor Ms. Hedrick and I am so happy that Providence Training Institute has an instructor that actually wants to see you succeed because what you'll learn about Ms. Hedrick is that she has a clear objective of what type of medical assistant needs to come out of you in order to feel successful and she will see what you don't see right away but always pushes us to feel confident in ourselves as well as in our skills. For example, she will work with you hands-on in order to evolve you from that shy girl who was too scared to do injections into actually getting excited when injections needed to be done. Overall, the staff was always so welcoming, it was a very good school to attend especially for the price of the program. P.S. Ms. Hedrick is the G.O.A.T. It'll come down to a point where you'll see it for yourself as her student but for now take my word on it and don't miss out on an amazing instructor because her teaching skills truly cannot be compared and you will notice just how much knowledge you walked away within just such little time being at the program. read more

There weren't many reviews for this business when I signed up for the CNA program here. I saw some mixed reviews and told myself that when I finished the course, I would help out others by posting a review of my own. PTI is a cute little place with all of the things a medical training institute needs to be functional and successful. There are classrooms and labs and even a CPR-training room. There are clean, private bathrooms and a lunch room with seating, a microwave, and a fridge. PTI offers a variety of CNA training classes to fit your schedule. There is a weekday class, a weekend class, and a night class. Most of the materials we need are included in the cost of the program and the things that aren't, such as the books, are sold there and can be added onto your account for future payment. I learned exactly what I needed to learn from this program to pass my state boards and be a successful CNA. With that being said, the management is not all too reliable. During the timeframe that I took this course, PTI was starting to undergo new management, and things were just kind of messy. I sent an email with questions and never heard from staff. I called and left a message once and it was never returned. During the program fellow students and I were left unsure of many things, such as when our CPR course would be, when we would be given the chance to do fingerprints, where our clinicals would be at, etc. Management even left the building on our last day of class before giving us the photo IDs we needed for clinicals the next week and confirming that we were signed up for our state boards even though many of us reminded them throughout the course. Once we passed clinicals and the course, we were pretty much thrown to the dogs. No one explained the CNA application process with the state board and it was unclear that we were supposed to pick up our certificates of completion in order to apply with the board. Many of us just assumed we would be getting certified automatically and spent a month or two waiting around. If you failed your state test, you were left to figure out how to retest on your own. In summary, PTI gave me what I needed to succeed in the course and in the test, but is lacking when it comes to organization, communication, and ensuring student success. I still highly recommend this facility, but you just need to be sure to be on your A-game as far as deadlines and the CNA application process go. Thanks. read more

DO GO HERE! SAVE YOUR MONEY! Just thought I would copied the format from the review. I had a complete opposite review. There will be short version and long version, so read below. -Short version: started MA/Phlebotomy program back in June this year, got done late September. Finished my 1 month and a half in early November (11/03/2017) to be exact. And took the NCCT exam and passed on 11/18/2017. Paid roughly $2500 for the tuition, and $90 for the exam. So now I'm a CMA (Certified Medical Assistant). -Long version: the program is about 3 months long, and with externship hours, I'd say it's about 5-6 months long (depends how quick you can pick your externship site). Compare to other Medical Assistant schools that charge students upward to $15,000 tuition fees and usually required attending school full time for 1 year, Providence Training Institute (PTI) was an easy choice for me. $2.5k (5-6 mons) versus $15k (1 year), and the kicker is, PTI's program offers Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy combo. Other schools are about $1,500 for just the Phlebotomy portion alone and requires about 3 months of school. So see it for yourself the amount of money and time that you will save (well I did). -Couple things that I really like about this program: it offers 2 programs for the price of 1. You can opt to just drop the Phlebotomy portion while still doing the MA portion (doesn't mean you can leave early!). For my class, some students dropped the Phlebotomy portion due to different circumstances (unstable hands, keep making errors, uncomfortable drawing blood, etc.) One cool thing is: the school will let you retake the course again if you fail with NO PAY! Meaning you will get a chance to attend the same course again if you fail the class (due to work, kids, babysit, etc.). I don't know about other programs but the ability to retake the class for free... -Moving on. -Classes' schedules are Mondays through Thursdays, 9AM-3PM. 9-12 we would be in the classroom, going over 2 chapters per day. A 30 minutes lunch either at 12-12:30 or 12:30-1 (depends on the CNA's class and what time they want their lunch). Food choice? Papa John 2 steps away, Panda Express, some Greek place, Wing Stop (or ATL wings just 5 mins drive away), McDonald, Jack in the Box, so plenty of places to eat (Yes I have eaten at all those places beside Wing Stop at that location since they weren't opened yet at that time). Then lab right after from 12:30PM-3P for the Phlebotomy portion. Get to be best friend with needles and a tourniquet very quickly because you will be required to stick each other in able to draw blood (I mean... where/who else?) Oh and on the first day, scan the room and look at everyone's arms to see if their veins popped. If you do see them, seat next to that person because their veins will make your life a lot easier during the first week since you're still new to holding the needles "bevel up!" and draw bloods. Keep in mind, you will perform injections also on each other (no worry, just some saline solutions, expect some redness, bleeding, and soreness). Regarding to the first comment, review of this school... In our class, we were talking about pooling in the money to buy the NCCT practice exam for all of us who plan to take the certification with NCCT. But that plan didn't go through. So I just studied out of the school's book and still passed the NCCT exam. I studied for about 3 days, mainly going over ECG placements and what those leads mean! And brushed up on some terms, and Order of Draw (you will come to love those words soon if you take this combo class), and I passed. Therefore, I do feel that THE SCHOOL HAS ADAQUATELY PREPARED ME FOR THE NCCT EXAM! They provided us books, with weekly exams, homework, and externship site (if you're not happy with your externship site, you have the option to pick one your own, just like I did). After that, you will HAVE TO STUDY FOR THE CERTIFICATION TEST YOUR OWN. I don't expect the school to hold my hands and tell me how, where to study for the NCCT exam. Most of the students that I talked to, got offered a job after their externships or during. I got offered during my externship but I declined the offer due to benefits and pay. So it's not hard to get a job right after school. Overall, I had great experience with this school. Too bad they don't spend money on advertising the school more. The reason how I know about this school was because I took my CNA class here before (yes I passed that CNA exam also with a 98% overall score). But CAN wasn't for me since their duties are quite limited so I seek for MA program. P.S. Find a good study partner also. So that you guys can study after class and/or on the weekends together. Help each other learn and you will pass the class and NCCT exam also. (My study partner and I both passed this class, both MA and Phlebotomy portion, with A's) I hope my review will help making your decision a bit easier. This is the best medical school in AZ. I got my MA certification from them. We were 9 students in the class and all of us were hired during or right after the externship. I cousin who referred me to this school also told me that all the students in her class were hired during the externship. They are known for quality education. read more

Yes it's low tuition it's also a rapid course meaning you're so the class is cheap very cheap compared to when I contacted Pima Carrington at Phoenix College it's very affordable and they work with people on payment arrangements if you can't pay it up front so I will say that's a good point but their MA program the only criticism then I will say is they don't have a lot of the equipment that you need in the class meaning we never have an autoclave the surgical tray was contaminated so we never got to practice, you on it's Eden seller rated course so you're doing five chapters a week and I felt it was more on anatomy and physiology and less on it specially very important pharmacology you're going to be out there in ministry medications regardless of hits I am sub queue intradermal PO vaginal rectal oral you you know we gave injections on a dummy in the middle of trying to get a little bit of vina puncture it so I will say that's a little bit of criticism but the instructor of the class worked with you on any issues that you have if you didn't get something she would work with you because I know myself sometimes I would go to her and say can you explain this to me because I'm not getting it and she was very accommodating she's awesome now certified to teach the CPR class for which is a good thing because when we went to offsite to the CPR class the gentleman was very totally unprofessional and as for the owner of the school she knows the nearest Zona there is no like regulations on MAs in the state of Arizona so she knows how to go around things to get make sure she gets her money and that's all I'll say of her because we did not click very well when it came towards the end of me finishing up my externship clinicals she loves her money and she and I sometimes did not gel because I'm not gonna let somebody be rude to me just because she thinks she can hold my certificate and that was not my doing it's just we were waiting for the payment to go through but I think that was unprofessional cause she signed a contract and she abided by that contract and then turned around and told me I haven't received payment yet so that's all I'll say of her butt it is a lot faster than the nine months that most courses some or 12 months so you get what you pay for him I will say that side learn more on my externship and I took the national clinical certification and passed and I am taking the clinical certified medical assistant exam at the beginning of August I'd like to have both certifications you get further so I can just say this you get what you pay for and it is cheaper but I don't understand the cost anyway because I'm from another state their medical assistant program where I came from is only $1000 here it's like two or 3000 maybe 5000 a difference Schools and if you go to Pima or Carrington it's like 14 15,000 that is ridiculous but you do go for nine months so you're doing a different chapter every month they get you prepared him to take the exam this school is not accredited either let me point that out so you can't take the American medical assistant exam because the school is not credit they don't tell you there is either when you sign up for the course read more

Don't waste your money on this place unless you're going for the CNA program. The teachers are great and very knowledgeable, but if you're looking for a Medical Assistant/Phlebotomy program, go somewhere else. The owner (Kay) knows nothing about the externship sites she sends the students to. She doesn't care about you, she only cares about making money and making herself and her business look good. I've learned that 220 hours for the externship is much longer than usual and people look down to you for only going to school for 8-9 weeks. The program is definitely not long enough to learn what you need to know in the field and I now understand why the externship hours are so long. read more

My wife attended the CNA training at PTI. She is not the type to write a review, so I took the liberty. She really enjoyed the course. She felt that the education she received adequately prepared her for the state exam and skills test. She learned today that she passed both. She particularly liked the instructor. I ended up paying for it. I think for what she received, the price was definitely equitable. I would recommend this school for those that are interested in the CNA course. They obviously offer other nursing related courses. She will most likely explore her options with the higher level courses at PTI once she starts working. I think the only draw back would be the one week externship. Not a very nice facility in a pretty dodgy part of town. read more

In 2016 I got a grant through AZ@WORK for both CNA training and a CNA/caregiver bridge course, both of which PTI said they could instruct me in. I enrolled in the June CNA class. There were approx. 20 students in the class, and it was 4 days a week, 9 a.m. - 2:30, for 4 weeks, with 1 additional week for externship. The very first day we were informed that starting the next day with the chapter 1 test, and a vocabulary test, we would be having a chapter test and vocabulary test every single day of the course. They planned to review the previous days tests first, then have that days tests, followed by a highlights review of the next chapter, and then skills lab. With 1/2 hour out for lunch.That very quickly fell through. There were so many students that in the skills labs were chaos, the instructor showed us the skill, but too many students meant we didn't really get to try practicing the skill. And once the tests started and the chapters got more involved and technical meaning the reviews took longer, before you knew it we were spending almost the whole time in the classroom and barely any time if any in skills lab, and then it was only for demonstration with no chance to practice ourselves. They finally announced that at the end of the course they would have a 3 day skills "boot camp" for those who wished to attend at no extra cost. I found out later that my class was a "test" class, trying to squeeze a 6 week course into 4 weeks, and doubling the attendance in the class. At the end of the course, even though I aced the written tests, (thanks to intensive studying every night at home) I felt I had received inadequate skills training even though I attended the boot camp, and wanted more time to practice before taking the headmaster exam for certification. I was so nervous about it that it took me almost 2 months after the end of the course before I took the exam, and I am very glad I had easy skills to do for it so I passed. And even then I was inadequately prepared for actually putting my skills to work in a actual job. As I mentioned at the start, I had 2 grants for 2 courses that PTI said they offered. After completing the CNA course I asked about the schedule for the CNA/caregiver bridge course, and told they didn't know when the next one would be as they didn't have 10 people interested in taking it yet, and wouldn't schedule 1 until they had a confirmed 10 students for it. They never did get it scheduled as far as I know, even though they had received the grant money for it. read more

Low tuition, low quality education.There is no students support. Teacher for MA class, very unprofessional, use of profane language during class, and this unprofessionalism is condone by the school. As far as the staff goes, it is great. My teacher, Alicia, knew what she was talking about and didn't clutter our minds with things that didn't matter. The office staff was always friendly and nice, at least at the Phoenix campus. Overall, the education I thought was done well. But, you do get what you pay for. They give you a cheap scrub top, a cheap badge, a cheap stethoscope, and a cheap gait belt; so don't expect quality. That was one thing I didn't appreciate, but you live and you learn. Another thing that I was displeased with was the fact that it turned into a rat race. They registered 11 kids knowing very well that only 10 could go to externship. One would think okay, they go based off of who registered first, or merit. Nope! It came down to who ever could pay the fastest. I really didn't appreciate that. I will have you money when you need it, but don't rush me! It just really turned me off. Other than that the school was ok. read more
