I was instructed to arrive no later than 6:45 for 7 am image. The front desk didn't show up until 7:10. No respect for individual time. If I had been late, they would have billed me. Encourage your physicians to send you somewhere else. read more

Of necessity, i had to go to Providence Imaging Centre, you don't come to a place like this for fun, and of course, I've been having a few health concerns. This review is for the Mammogram staff, who were lovely. The entire checking in process was easy, and seamless. I was terrified, and had literally 45 minutes of sleep the night before, as I was so scared of what was to happen, and the results thereof. After check in, i was taken to a smaller waiting room, filled out my admission forms, and taken to another area, behind security doors. I was scared of the whole unknown process, but Lauren, the young lady who escorted me was lovely. Clear instructions as to what to do were given, ie. get changed, put your items in a locker, and come sit in the waiting room, with a fine selection of teas (not the type i like unfortunately, but that's by the by) coffee, water, and magazines. I did not have to wait long at all, before my technician came and got me, took me to the room with the vice-like clamp, where a part of a lady's upper body is examined in microscopic detail. This lady was very nice, we talked about my Narwhal Socks, and my bargain Costco shoes, and my fabulous nail art, and so she really put me at my ease. She was also very skilled at her job, and had me in and out in no time. It didn't hurt. Off i went back to the waiting area, waiting for an ultrasound, or possibly just to be sent on my way, depending on the results. There's a lot of turnover, they have us in and out pretty quick, considering. I sat a long time. That is my one criticism, as it seemed i was the only one left, out of maybe 8/9 ladies who'd all been dealt with. My vice-clamp lady saw me still sitting, asked if anyone else had seen me, I said no, so she went off to presumably hurry them on. Not long after, i went in for Ultrasound. I'm not gonna lie. I did not like this. I must have super-tender upper-lady areas, because this was not pleasant, and I'm sure that me tensing up didn't help. However, she soon had me finished, but the way that she was concentrating on certain areas, was really ratcheting my anxiety up. But, you know what? That lady is obviously a thorough technician, and I'm grateful. So I go back to my waiting area. I didn't have to wait long, before Lauren, my 1st lady came back and took me to a consultation room, to give me results. Thankfully nothing bad. But i do want to give this awesome place a shoutout. I'm used to English hospitals, and waiting weeks for your results. To get an answer right away was worth spending 3 hours there, and I was warned that it would take 3 hours when i scheduled my appointment, so you do have the opportunity to warn your employer if necessary. Unfortunately, I've needed a number of studies over the past few weeks. Sadly, you do need need an appointment, they don't take walk-ins. I had to wait several days for my various tests, which was kind of a drag since I've been walking around in pain. But on both occasions, once I got checked in everything was keen. The staff was AWESOME. The staff that took care of me were very, very kind and helpful. They answered questions and were gentle. It's important to note that Providence Imaging is NOT the same as Providence Radiology. I've had imaging studies also done at Providence Radiology and in general my experience was subpar. I forgot my exact appointment time so I arrived at this Imaging Center about an hour early for a CT Scan. A person at the registration desk called and asked if I could be seen sooner. The answer was yes, so I was registered and I was called up in about 30 minutes. Great customer service! read more

This has been a thing I've pondered on in doing for sometime now. I tried! I made the neccessary coorespondence with Department head this? Manager/Supervisor/coordinator that to the billing folks in Oregon. And it's gotten me no where. This has been an on-going/NOTHING since. This includes an ER visit as well. This was dated sometime in May of this year. I was corresponding with the serive coordinator: My response: Thank you for our talk this past Friday. I appreciate you and everyone else involved in hearing out my concern(s) on the two matters with my recent visits to Providence Hospital. The two cases/situations that you read back to me regarding my complaint do confirm that everything that happened to me at the hospital is accurate. The 1st complaint was during my ER visit when I was admitted for chest pains and yet the nurse neglected to reattach the monitor things? to my chest. According to what you read back to me there was a shift change, but still (and you agreed) pretty negligent. Especially for having chest pains and yet my heart/chest were not being monitored. Also after hitting the nurse button someone answered and I made (2) requests, water and telling the person on the speaker that I still wasn't hooked up. I believe that was when the x-ray tech came and took the images and then reattached me back to the monitor. And the only other time I'd seen a nurse was after this shift change and thus that nurse came in with the wrong discharge papers. She was rambling on about the doctor prescribing me some antibiotics... And that's when I stopped her and stated I was in for chest pains. She apologized and stated that my original nurse who went MIA shortly after gave this nurse the wrong chart, not my chart. The second incident was during my very 1st breast exam. I called in to the imaging dept and spoke to a Nurse Peggy (I get her name mixed up). But her and I spent about 30 min on the phone finalizing what I wanted and her agreeing to that request. She said that she needed to speak with her peers/radiologist and called me back. She said that this type of mammogram was still new, but they said that they would do that for me. The Nurse also documented everything. The day of my appointment that mammogram tech and I talked for roughly 15 min. I mentioned that it should be in the notes somewhere, but that the Nurse and I discussed the breast exam as a 3-D with C-view No 2-D. The mammogram tech looked confused and said that they no longer perform 2Ds anymore, and that what I was requesting is what they've been doing since the beginning. She also made the mention that I must of been speaking to a Nurse from another department or the receptionist? She reassured me that everything was okay and that everyone is exposed to some type of radiation on a daily basis and this mammogram is no different. She also documented on my chart my request (3-D w/ C-view...no 2-D) per what the Nurse and I discussed previously. So she did my breast exam. Later on that day the Nurse called with good news and bad news. The good news was my breast exam came out okay. The bad news was that the mammogram tech didn't honor what was in my chart, nor honored what I stated and even with the fact that the tech notated it all??? Her response: Thank you for your contact. The letter previously sent to you was only in response to one of your concerns. When you advised me there were two service failures and felt we should do more for you as a result. I found your 2nd concern and I elevated both concerns to the Program Director of Providence Experience for review and consideration. I will be responding to you this week via letter sent in U.S. Mail. I am sorry you were disappointed. Continuing Me I just left you a voice mail message. I am confused as to this letter you sent me? It looks to me nothing has changed since we've last corresponded, and therefore I am following up on my concerns elsewhere. Her response: Yes, you will receive a letter of response, unfortunately the Director reviewing is out of office this week. When she returns letter will be finalized and out to you in mail. Please accept my apologies for this delay. Me: I received the letters and the gift cards? I was taken aback some and not in a good way. The two gift cards you sent me would have been taken as thoughtful considering the major service fails that Providence Hospital provided as far as my care was concerned which wasn't the case. As already stated and you agreed the 2 services you all provided were negligent and close to a malpractice suit? The gift cards you sent me were a slap in the face and not taken as compensation. The total amount of 2 gift cards sent to me were of nothing, but $20 bucks Confused and offended! You made a suggestive offer to me over the phone of paying me for the so-called services already paid out to my insurers. I would appreciate you keeping your word as you stated prior to me already. I love Providence Imaging Center. Going to medical providers is a drag, especially in Alaska where we have too few and they have too little competition. And unlike the old days, just because a clinic, lab, or physician is associated with Providence Hospital doesn't mean assured high-quality, fair, honest, or ethical. Now Providence just rents space and its name to medical providers and it hires subcontracting physicians and behind-the-scenes providers for ERs instead of having its own. Some clinics and providers are great or at least good enough, while others are thieves and don't give a hoot about being actual well-rounded medical providers (they just want the big bucks). So, basically, a person's first time at any clinic associated with Providence is as much a crapshoot regarding the quality of care and reasonableness of pricing as is going anywhere else for the first time. Providence Imaging Center's staff, though, are always efficient, nice, friendly, flexible, and helpful. I love talking to the women at reception! They are always so respectful, kind, helpful, and cheerful. (And to be fair, I was once helped by a very nice man there, too.) I've never walked away from reception without a smile on my face, feeling upbeat because of how the people behind the reception desks talked to and treated me. The providers themselves have always been the same: friendly, patient, and respectful. The clinic itself is lovely, and it provides a peaceful, calming decor. I'd love some of those decorative leaf panels in my home! They are gorgeous and tasteful. Providence Imaging Center also has a great system for setting up appointments and doing advance paperwork online. I love that! I've yet to be billed incorrectly or hassled for more money than should be charged, unlike some other providers associated with Providence. Providence Imaging Center works smoothly and fairly with every insurance provider I've had (since employer keeps changing for "cheaper," forcing us to keep making changes too). It's always easy and straightforward, thank the lord, because I'm Sick of medical provider/medical insurance mistakes and hassles! (Mistakes are always at the patient's expense, of course.) Yep, Providence Imaging Center is my go-to place for anything it provides that I need, and appointments there are some of the very few medical appointments I don't dread and try to avoid. That's because in the several years I've been a patient of their clinic, I've not had one bad or even mildly unpleasant experience. Kudos to Providence Imaging Center! read more

I recommend do NOT go to Providence Imaging Center or their affiliated doctor group, Alaska Radiology Associates, in Anchorage for any imaging studies due to the ongoing unethical behavior and incompetence of their billing departments. There are other imaging centers in Anchorage. In October 2017 I had a test there which they billed me for directly and did not bill my insurance...even though they are in net work contracted providers with my insurance and have to accept their contracted rate for payment! They had all my insurance information as I had been there previously. For the October 2017 test, neither Providence Imaging nor their affiliate Alaska Radiology Associates submitted a bill to my insurance. I mailed a letter by USPS to Alaska Radiology Associates instructing them to bill my insurance, but they did not respond to my letter. As of 2/4/2018, Providence Imaging and Alaska Radiology Associates have sent me threatening letters saying they will send my account to collection if I don't pay the full amount due! They need to stop harassing customers and bill Blue Cross . If they want to be cash only providers, they need to cancel their contracts with insurance companies. They can't have it both ways. Another Providence affiliated imaging center "Imaging Associates " on Piper Street in Anchorage has a similar problem. They billed me for the full amount for a test I had in November 2017 even though they had already been paid in full electronically within 7 days of the date of service by Blue Cross. I expect it will take more hours of my time to straighten this stupid mess out. I plan to avoid Providence Imaging Center in the future and go to one of the many other imaging centers that are in network if I need imaging in the future. read more
