The place is cheaper than ORM, and unlike most other fertility clinics, OHSU is open on saturdays…read moreand sundays for insemination. A couple negatives of OHSU though is that they make you get a bunch of unnecessary blood tests done that other fertility clinics do not require. They make you pay for a consult appointment every year you are their patient. They lied and told me it would be covered by my insurance, then it wasn't, so I had to pay. The consult was a pointless waste of money, in which they just ask me where I am in my fertility journey and what my plans are now. They also make me do a pap smear (which no other local fertility clinic requires) and a(n expensive) psychological evaluation (basically asking you about your plans on open/closed donor and how/when you intend to tell your child about their other parent--why do I need to spend hundreds just to be asked these questions which are none of your business?). The doctor assigned to me (Amato) was impersonal, barely remembered anything about me, and never offered any sympathetic words or encouragement during the struggle to conceive. Tips on successful conception/implantation? Right foods to eat? Right things to avoid? What could be causing the infertility? The doctor knows less than a Google search. I felt like I knew more than she did, and that wasn't helpful. Also, when OHSU washes the ICI donor sperm for an IUI procedure, they kill about 23 million (92%) of them. So try to use IUI vials which come already washed by the sperm bank. After a few iuis here which didnt result in pregnancy, i switched to spring fertility where i did ivf and got pregnant my first cycle.

Great! I was told x-rays are not scheduled and are done on a walk in basis. Anyone with small children knows that this is not ideal because it is difficult to wait with your child for long periods of time in a waiting room not set up for them. I looked online before we went so I knew there would be no kids area or reading materials. We decided to go mid morning when I figured it would be less busy. There was only one person in the waiting room when we got there and we were told by the receptionist that we would be up next for xray and that it wouldn't be too long because the last client before us just finished up. Great! We then sat down and waited. And waited and waited and waited. Over 40 minutes we sat in the room and waited. I was just about to go back up to see when we could expect to be called when someone finally came out for us. We were lead back to a room with two techs and they began trying to position my kiddo for the imaging to be done. One of the techs either doesn't like children or doesn't work with them often because she had a horrible bedside manner. She sounded irritated the whole time and was huffing and puffing when my son didn't understand the instructions she was giving him. It's not like we were taking a long time to figure this out, either. This was in the first 1-2 minutes we were in the room and she was already acting like we were just a huge inconvinence. He's freaking three, he's not going to respond to verbal instructions the same way an adult does. Overall, I left feeling pretty poorly about our interactions and experience. If you work at a business that serves children as part of their demographic, you should be expected to be cordial when working with them. In the future we will go elsewhere, even if it means we have to travel further.

I've been having intermittent pain and weakness and both my doctor and I want to figure out what is going on. The Center for Medical Imaging was easy to find. Plenty of parking out front. Very large waiting room with seats spaced far apart. Everyone working there was friendly, efficient and professional. Since the order was called in prior, I just had to sign in and within 5 minutes, the technician came out to get me. The process went quickly, she took at least five X-Rays from different angles, and I was on my way. Results were in My Chart within 24 hours.

So I went to Dr. Menashe after doing some research on getting a vasectomy here in Portland. Not…read moreonly do you take a deep breath thinking about someone working down there, there are lots of stories of things going wrong, which made me want to choose wisely. I did. I made my appointment (he is busy; give yourself some lead time)and showed up to Dr. Menashe's office, which is small and unassuming. We did a quick interview in his office and then to the exam room for the main event. Without getting into the nitty gritty of it, turns out I am an unusual case; something he had never seen in all his years of working. But the doctor was totally professional and he even called in a colleague to check me out. I ended up not having the vasectomy done that day, but after giving it plenty of thought, I made another appointment and had the procedure done just 2 days ago. The vasectomy was amazingly simple. We chatted the whole time and Dr. Menashe has a pretty good sense of humor. Again, without getting into the nitty gritty (he has a different technique than most docs.), the whole thing was COMPLETELY painless. I took 2 tylenol the first night before bed and that's been it for recovery besides the usual cold packs. I can't recommend Dr Menashe highly enough. He turned a procedure that makes grown men wince and cross their legs into something that was no big deal.
